Hancocks best stop for locally made and original art. Conveniently located downtown and offering workshops with visiting artists as well as operating an old printing press. Here at the Copper Country Community Arts Center in Hancock we have wonderful local work in our Artists Market Sales Gallery! Jewelry, paintings, photography, pottery, blown glass, stained glass, wooden bowls, books, cards, and many other unique gifts in all price ranges. We have gift certificates too! Along with our artist market sales gallery we have the Kerredge Gallery and our Youth Gallery, which each change monthly.

History

Established in 1992.

We started in 1972 as Copper Country Community Arts Council and have been growing and changing ever since! In 1992 we became the Copper Country Community Arts Center. Over time, we have expanded to having three gallery spaces, many different art classes, and studio spaces for local and visiting artists to utilize.

First I should say that I grew up in northern Wisconsin, and had not been back to the north for 35…read moreyears, and lived in three countries since then. I am a painter, so I went in to see what is offered. When I went into the gallery I was heartened to see true representation of local artists and that the works were skillful and professionally displayed. When I've been in other cities I've been increasingly disappointed that galleries show a large percentage of coldly decorative or derivative work. It was refreshing to see items that were sincere. I didn't expect to see a gallery of any significance in Calumet, and it is not the only one there, either.
