When it comes to a company managing one of your most expensive assets, your home, who that company is - is extremely important. Saw on another review site where they had hundreds of positive reviews - and started to dive deeper in their reviews and that's honestly what stood out to me - to make me choose them. It wasn't their positive reviews - it was actually their negative reviews. Almost every single negative review was addressed - but not with a simple, generalized statement. But with extensive details that explains why the tenant is upset and how the company tried to resolve it, and sometimes the issue is that the company was protecting the homeowner. Now Copper Key Realty took over my home to manage during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and there was some adjustments as mostly everyone was working from home - but overall it was a smooth process. Ms. Cheryl Strong was available via e-mail and quick to respond to any questions - never made me feel like I was wasting her time - before I signed the dotted line to commit. Also, whenever I spoke to staff - whoever answered the phone always tried to answer my questions or concerns. They never tried to pawn me off on someone else. The contractors they use, they pass the savings onto the homeowner. Looking through the itemized repair list - I definitely could have paid more prepping the home to get tenant-ready. Seems like documents and payments come through like clockwork. Whoever takes the pictures and lists the home does an amazing job. There was 'conversations' of what I wanted to list the home for - yet due to the amazing work of everyone - from the minute the home listed to the minute the listing was taken down was only 72 hours! But it was all this and more that stood out to me from when I compared it to other management companies. Those things being that their website and portal stood out, fees were simple to understand, and being an animal lover they don't seem to charge a monthly pet fee to the tenant. (As other companies do) Definitely happy with my decision and as long as the relationship remains positive I can definitely see myself using them to also sell the property whenever that may be. read more

It looks like everyone who has reported a good experience with this company has them managing a house they own, or they have bought from them. This company charges you and extra 60 dollars a month for a package that you cannot get out of to send you a box of air filters. They try to charge you extra fees if you are not fast enough to respond to an email. If you are going to renew your lease they charge you an extra 250$ that you do not know about until the time to renew. This company will find a way to nickel and dime you at every single turn. They do not upkeep the properties when they are vacant. When I moved into a place managed by them half the lights in the house were burnt out. The one door I missed on my walk through that led to a pantry had its walls covered with black and green mold. (This did get fixed). You have to jump through more hoops to rent from these people and pay more than what it would be just to buy a house. Do youself the favor, if you see this company, just keep it moving... it is not worth your time, health, or the increased hassle or stress. read more

DO NOT BYPASS THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! Charges you an application fee without letting you know prior that you need to have 3x the rent amount. So I'm not able to afford a rental for $2600 even though I make well over that per month. Also refuses to show you VACANT properties unless you agree to a move in date. So apparently June 1st wasn't good enough for them. Please stare clear. Edit: The property that I requested to be seen is vacant just like all of the units that you guys currently have available. They're all vacant. And I clearly stated to Janessa that my lease does not expire until June. Why would I move in to a property on May 15th when I requested a June move in date? Your company is asking applicants to commit to a property that they may not even like and judging by the vacancies of these units I see why you guys are trying to push for occupancy. I loved a property they had but their rental process is beyond invasive. I get that rent prices have sky rocketed and yet they can still afford to be picky about tenants but too much hair splitting for me. I bring in well over 50k a year, renting a 1400$ home should not be that difficult. And no I don't have any smudges on my records. They pulled up one file from 2014 when my ex husband left the military and said I owed 600$. I called the apartments in question and they couldn't even find the file or charges. This is what kept me from moving forward. They wanted me to pay an apartment complex money that the complex themselves couldn't even find. Maybe they're great for tenants, but DO NOT let them manage your property, unless you really don't care about your property. We rented out our home due to a military move. I spent a significant amount of money to prep the house for tenants.. new paint, new carpet, some minor repairs here and there. Upon return and laying eyes on the paint and repairs, I was so embarrassed. The "patch and paint" is horrendous. Instead of removing nails and screws from the walls, they were hammered or screwed all the way in, then they patched over and painted - no sanding, no cleaning... and now all those nail heads are rusted... Slumlord special. There was mold in the bathroom and basement, I had gutter elbows missing, the carpet had pet damage and there was a bird nest IN my front porch sconce. When I confronted Copperkey, I was met with "well if we can't legally charge the tenants"... So if they can't charge the tenants, they do not care and nothing will come out of their pocket. They will charge inspection fees and not do thorough inspections, charge for cleaning and not clean. I shouldn't be able to tell that my tenants had pets - there was cat/dog hair everywhere and had I known they charge "pet rent", that alone would have deterred me from using this company. If you care at all about your investment, stay as far away from this company as you can! read more

They have a great group of contractors that they work with and were able to help us with every step. They kept our house rented out and in good condition. I rented from Copper Key, Reliant at the time, from Oct 2018 to November 30th 2020. I rented a townhouse that was at the end of a building containing 4 townhouses. On my end there were two doors approximately 2 ft apart, my door, and the neighboring tenants door. I was at the very end on the left side when you are facing the building. The very week that I moved in my daughter and her bf came by to put together a few pieces of furniture for me. I wasn't thinking when I parked my car in front of my apt about moving over for them to park. When we were all inside the apt, my daughter came to me telling me that the neighbor wanted me. I went to the door and he gestured toward my daughters bf car and said to me "she is parked too far over, you have 2 parking spaces and they are both up front, see where she is parked? I'm going to nip this in the bud. I just shook my head and said ok and went back inside and had them move their car. As time went by the bully **** neighbor would go out on the porch we shared and talk on his cell phone and smoke while sitting or standing in his doorway and he has a very loud mouth and would also have his phone on speakerphone. This could go on anytime of day or night. If he wasn't doing that he was holding loud mouth conversations with visitors on the porch spread out across both sides of the porch anytime day/night. I work two jobs and was kept up when I did have a chance to sleep sometimes 3 days in a row. I told loudmouth one day that I work 2 jobs and need some rest and that I would appreciate it if he could carry on his conversations inside so that it wasn't disturbing me. He and his heavy wife stomped repeatedly up and down the stairs that were separated by a wall from my own. He walked like he weighed 300 pounds when in fact he looked every bit of 90 pounds wet. They would throw parties although the lease forbid them and kept me awake when I had to be up early for work the next day. His heavy wife would arrive home from work or anywhere else she might have gone with her music blaring in her car whatever time of day or night it might be. He would throw cig buds, ashes, paper, cups, and anything else he could on my side of the yard. He played little games like taping a ball of tape up on the porch roof in front of my door. The next day he moved it to between our doors and the next day he took it down. I took pictures of all of it. On fourth of July they had a party and had 4 extra vehicles there. When I got home from work I had to wait for those ****** to move their butts out of the way so that I could park because they were sprawled out over the parking area in lawn chairs while the ***** was out in the road lighting fireworks. I pulled into my parking space, went in and got a bite to eat, and turned the tv on. Next thing I know their shooting fireworks right behind my car, on my patio as well as throwing cig buds on it and once it was all over at 11 pm, my car was covered in firework dust dirt and paper. Another time he had thrown smoke bombs behind my car, lit firecrackers while standing in his doorway onto the porch in the middle of the day and it definitely wasn't legal. The neighbor even had been allowed to put a small storage building on the property between patios. He seemed to get his butt kissed left and right. I witnessed many drug deals there as well but nothing was ever done about that either. Can we say shady?! I could go on and on about all the **** that was done to me but you get the idea. I complained to Casey about the neighbors behavior and asked her to please do something and either she did nothing or it did no good. She said one time about a complaint that she told him 2 or 3 times and that's all she could do. I got tired of not getting anything done so I thought maybe it's the owner I need to speak to, Cheryle S*****. So I asked if I needed to talk to her and that's when Ms S***** replied to my email for the first time. She was very rude and condescending. She made the comment that they had been there 6 or 7 years, which it had only been about 2, and that I was the only one that complained about them. Yeah right! I'm sure that's why people moved in and out of there. The only one that might not complain about them is people just like them. I told her that I was going to look for somewhere else to live so she decided to take it upon herself and make me move at her convenience. I was not once late on rent, always paying on the 1st of the month every month. I was supposed to be out in Oct but my household got covid so I had to wait since I couldn't view anything. Then a program was going to help me with moving expenses but I would need to be able to stay in the townhouse for another 2-3 weeks until the check came through.
