Everyone is in a hustle together down here in Cancun Coral Negro Flea Market to take advantage of tourist. They lead us to a hole in the wall food place, no prices on the menu, and kept trying to give us "free" drinks but we decline. Before we knew it for a ceviche plate two cokes, a taco plate, and quesadilla was $239 USD. Then the staff kept us in the place until we paid after disputing the cost. My sister was also called a bitch for taking the time of a guy after not buying a bag from him. I would recommend staying away from this place. read more

Absolutely do not go here. I had an anxiety attack because so many men were rushing me and in my face. I told one to please stop and he said "be nice". I left about five minutes after that encounter. I found a bracelet I liked, I looked on Etsy and low and behold it was about $100 cheaper to just order off Etsy from a local jeweler. The silver is also not pure, it's cut with and alloy which they will deny. When I tried to leave he blocked the door and kept telling me he would make the bracelet cheaper. It freaked me out. It's a bunch of very inexpensive items for about a 500 percent markup. It's a tourist trap and I felt extremely unsafe. Isla (the island) is a lovely place to go shopping, once you get away from the ferries and to the opposite side of the island. read more

I'm only giving this 2 stars because as pushy as they all are to buy some were very nice .. we tried some tequila that was really good. I got very put off by a lady wanting to braid my hair.. I really wanted to get it done so I did.. she wanted to put fat fake braids I told her no.. my hair only then she told me 5 min took like 30 or more.. got overcharged immensely I could have prob gotten a stranger at hotel to do it cheaper!! The only good thing was tequilas! That too was over priced.. we got hats and mask that are of course not made here but we were told they were.. up street is a 2 story supermarket I highly recommend going there to get trinkets it's on point for pricing.. so much cheaper and no real hassle read more

Very pushy sales people. You can't walk and look around without someone trying to force you into their stores. Very very annoying. I do not recommend this and I left after 5 minutes because I couldn't take it anymore. Just go to the supermarket nearby which has a souvenirs section or Plaza La Fiesta Mexican outlet which is 2 blocks away and has no annoying sales people. read more

These guys are sure pushy! They really wanna get in your face and let you know that they have the best prices on t-shirts (almost free!) and souvenirs. Their selections here mirror the other touristy places you see up in here, with I guess a broader slant towards the handmade instead of so much the stuff made in China. My favorite thing about this place is that they'll give you cornrows in your hair if you sit down long enough. They charge by the twisty braid. They look like they can go pretty fast and get you looking like an Island Boy in no time. The way that this shopping center is designed, it's like cattle going down the chute where all the vendors can sort of really get a good shot at cat calling to you about how their deals are the best- come take a look! take a look! Only looking! You gotta be prepared to fend off aggressive salesmen who only wanna cut a deal. read more

You come here for your Cancun souvenirs. Do come here with caution though because everyone here is very aggressive. They have the same items throughout the market; t-shirts that glow in the sun, shirts that change color under the black light and trinkets you typically get on vacation. Be prepared to say no and ignore their calls and wanting to show you their store. However there are some sellers who aren't pushy and they are typically the younger sellers. They do take USD, but you'll get a much better deal when you pay in Mexican pesos. Take my advice and go to the local independent souvenir shops in Hotel Zone. You'll feel much more relaxed as you shop and can still can get a decent deal. read more

BEWARE: This place was awful. They tried charging us 450$ USD for a couple tshirts, cheap sunglasses and a sombrero. 500 for 2 bottles of cheap tequila. No police in sight so multiple male stall owners physically got in our way and would not let us leave when we refused to pay even 100$. Ended up spending 65 just to get out. We found out later this was still more than double what we would have paid finding the same items elsewhere. DO NOT VISIT HERE. Go to a normal stores with posted prices. Lots of the same things in most of the shops and the shop owners are VERY pushy and aggressive to get you into their store to buy something at very high prices , you have to negotiate items way down . No prices on most items . One shop owner got rude with us after he was so nice at first . We were in Cancun and my wife wanted some souvenirs if you have never been pay attention if you have then you know this place was recommended by the resort we were at because they are all in cahoots first off it was 200 pesos to park and then it got expensive from there the whole place is teeming with sharks the price is always in flux and often change usually not in your favor free tequila is easy to find there to help loosen you up when paying with pesos they will give you the price in US dollars and then the exchange rate is 22 pesos to 1 if they find out you have dollars they will give you the price in pesos and then the exchange rate is 16 to 1 everything ther is made by the store owner or so they say I even saw a guy looking like he was carving a wooden mask but that was just for show most of its from china everyone is someone's cousin or uncle or so they say no one wants you to walk down the street because once you get to the grocery store the cat is out of the bag and they know it it can be a fun experience but just know everyone there is working to get your money at any cost BE WARE read more

From experience Mercado 28 was cheaper than the stores in this location. There are several vendors selling a variety of items (very similar if not exactly the same items as Mercado 28). They try VERY hard to move you into their stores so you can purchase stuff, which is very uncomfortable. You can't just go into a store to "see" because you'll be haggled into purchasing items. This is a "flea market" so if you're good with your words and know how to haggle this place is PERFECT. Because you can talk down vendors, I however am not good at that. In the stores I went too no items had prices so I think they just put whatever price they like depending on how you look. We looked like gullible tourists honestly. A piece we were looking at was originally priced at 250, then 200, then 150, then 100 pesos. We didn't really want it we just thought the piece was nice, but see how prices drop? Sneaky. read more

This place gives brick and mortar to the stereotype that locals will do their best to squeeze the money out of tourists. Stay away. Far away. Walking through here is worse than walking through the gauntlet of vendors at Chichen Itza (https://www.yelp.com/biz/zona-arqueol%C3%B3gica-chich%C3%A9n-itz%C3%A1-chichen-itza?ylist=cancun-cancun-6). At least there are pyramids there. Here, there are just more and more vendors and their friends trying to sell you everything they can (balloons, key chains, statues of the Predator (?), models of Chichen Itza). You can't go anywhere without a solicitation or a cat call. We drove in and knew immediately that it was a bad idea. We went into one store and spent the next 6 minutes racing through the facility back to our car. We left with no souvenirs, angry, and frustrated. An interesting experience! Not like shopping at home. Like other reviews, each shop owner hounds you to enter their "shop" and buy stuff. They are basically polite in my experience, but extremely persistent. Everything is negotiable, so if you like to haggle, this may be for you. You should plan on paying about one-third of what they originally ask for! I bought a Baja hoodie and straw hat for $600 pesos, where he originally wanted $1800 pesos just for the hoodie! I think I could gotten it even cheaper, but at that point I figured it was fair. About $33 USD for the two items. I only gave it 2 stars because most Americans won't like this style of shopping. The sales people ruin the experience by having prices on nothing & telling you a really high price right away. They will take 1/4 or less of what they tell you at first. They yell to you from across the market, begging you to come in. It's an all around uncomfortable feeling when you are trying to look around. A LOT of pressure. I was looking for an authentic street market to buy some souvenirs for the family and friends back home and happened upon this place. I absolutely love going to markets to see what the local artists and musician scene is like. However this was the absolute worst market experience I've ever had and I've seen plenty from small ones in Guatemala to large multi-story ones in Beijing. The vendors were incredibly pushy, rude, and invasive. I couldn't turn a corner, without someone using cat-calling as a method of selling their wares..... On top of that, the goods were incredibly overpriced and no one was willing to barter for lower prices. Typically the salesperson will offer a ridiculously exorbitant price for a sun hat or blanket, and then I offer half until we can settle someone where in the middle. The experience is enjoyable and the salesperson and I engage in a give and take until we are both happy. However, this market was full of vendors staring you down and unwilling to budge. Save your money and go somewhere else read more

Aggressive and annoying vendors. They'd probably get waaay more business if they just let people browse. Instead, the constant harassment to come in each store was so annoying it just made us leave. Nothing here can be considered an authentic Mexican handicraft, just cheap souvenirs. And like others have said, it's a much more pleasant experience (and sometimes cheaper) to just go to the souvenir shop at La Isla mall. I can honestly not think of anyone who would find this place enjoyable. read more
