As we have our own little fur baby on the way it was definetly a trip we needed to take and this place was HUGE. They have areas for specials and a fantastic range (though sometimes it feels empty since there's so much shelf space it can make products look low on stock). Staff were honest and gave good advice which was refreshing. The main thing I liked about this place though was that it was clean. Paranoid after reading up so much about parvo and other pup viruses I was really happy with rhe sterility of it, a nice change from most of the shops where they have food product spilled out on the floors and animals or birds roaming round dooking on everything haha. "Come with me and you'll be..." accompanied by two excited pups dancing from one paw to the other when not making it as difficult for me to stand on either of my own feet as possible. I clumsily fumbled at the third gate. "We'll begin with a spin..." the mutts sped off before I called them back to take their leashes off. "If you want to view paradise..." and are a dog "...simply look around and do it..." at the Holdfast Dog Centre. This is a doggy Disneyland filled with pooch pleasures such as a sandbit, luscious lawn, paddling pools, tunnels, a doggy playground, toys, water sources, shade and numerous things that need a good sniffing. We bipeds are taken care of too and whilst my Italian Greyhound said ciao to some birds who dared to be in his vicinity, I played "Words with Friends" on my phone sat at a table under the shade sails. The dog park is accessible to casual visitors 24 hours a day, when the premises aren't being used for training and day care. Doggy day care is available Tuesday to Friday, but each day is set for certain dogs. It's brilliant for people with one dog to allow for socialisation, and to keep them entertained during the day when you're at work. My brother, his girlfriend and their two fur-children learnt the whys and wherefores of behaviour here and their certificates of completion proudly adorn their notice board. Jetty and Scrum are beautifully behaved thanks to HDC's efforts. For small-medium dogs the centre hs more than enough room for a good run, but if you've bigger dogs itching for a run, or you would like to run with your dog, the la crosse oval next to the centre is a local favourite for doing just that. Within the whole Brighton Sports Complex, and in the Dog Centre, it is expected (and illegal not to) clean up after your dog, but plastic bags and appropriate disposal is abundant. If nothing but the best will do for your canine companion, visit the Holdfast Dog Centre. "Living there you'll be free, if you truly wish to be."

We have put our pets in boarding kennels previously, but with the number of pets and a cat which hates leaving home we were looking for a home service. We were worried about who would look after them, but upon meeting Brooke our worries were put to rest immediately. She was a natural with the pets, even the usually shy cat came to greet her. The pets were fed, walked, and played with. She even watered the plants, took in the mail, put out the bins, and topped up the bird water, even though we didn't request it. Dog dos were picked up also, and the dogs were washed on the last day, so we came home to clean dogs. Brooke also sent us regular texts and the odd photo, which was greatly appreciated, as we missed them while away. We came home to two happy dogs who didn't seem as though they had fretted at all. We used the one visit pr day service as our pets stayed outside, but inside pets or anxious pets would need the twice daily service. Brookes prices were also reasonable when you consider the cost of boarding three animals, with the added advantage of having someone pop in to keep an eye on the house and plants also. She really gave us the peace of mind to enjoy our holiday knowing that our pets, plants and home were taken care of. If you are considering going away or are going to be away for any period I would highly recommend giving Brooke a call. You won't need to go any further. If you have pets who are happier at home, like our cat, which would fret if put in pens surrounded by barking dogs, Happy Pet Helpers would be the answer. I had to return to get his little paw checked out for progress in healing. They then followed up with a phone call to check on the progress. I love this so much! But, the best part is yet to come. Not only looked after my little pup Igor so well, they sent me a Welcome Card and a complimentary gift pack offer. How nice is that? Check out the card in the photos on this listing. So sweet! This says a lot to me about how much they care about their customers. It's almost like welcoming you into the family. So excited to find a new vet that cares so much!

The veterinarians who work here are really compassionate friendly people and they are fantastic at their jobs, so I consider myself quite lucky to have this as my local clinic. I took Arthur to the puppy preschool that is available here, and while it sounds ridiculous it's a really good idea because it allows for your pup to get used to other dogs and they teach you how to teach your pet; If you're local this is a good option. While vet's are always going to be pricey at least at Aldgate Vet Clinic you have the sense that it isn't just a job and these people actually really care for your pet...maybe even love them...maybe not. Anyhow, I will never change clinics, even if I happen to move.

I'm not one to name and shame when it comes to small business, many small businesses are doing it…read moretough so I have thought long and hard before I leave this review. However, my recent experience with the Adelaide Hills Pet Resort was so terrible that I am sharing this as I would not want my friends or family to be treated the way we have been treated. We have been loyal customers of theirs since 2009 and in that time we have easily spent in the order of $10,000. We've always supplied our own dog food as our dogs have a special diet, and never once asked for a discount on their fees even though they are not supplying food (which is a part of their fee). Their customer service has never been anything to write home about, but I always felt confident that my dogs were well looked after so I overlooked it. In January this year we made a booking for our dogs to stay for 25 days across June and July (the last few days fall in school holidays). I rang in May to confirm my booking and to advise that we were going to be home on a Thursday rather than a Saturday. They advised they have a strict no change of booking policy in school holidays so I accepted I'd have to pay for the stay, however I asked during the phone call whether we could make negotiations about the Saturday as they are charging me for a full day but required me to pick up the dogs by 1pm due to their business hours on that day. They advised they'd get back to me. What followed was an email exchange which still leaves me stunned (I've included parts of it below). The first part I was ok with... "Yes, Clients certainly can, and do, utilise the full day boarding fee on Saturdays. They pick up on Sunday morning at no charge for Sunday if pets are picked up between 8.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m". My first thought was, fair enough, we'll pick them up Sunday morning. But then I kept reading and was genuinely shocked. I've copied part of the response below... "No business can please or cater to 100% of client requests 100% of the time and we apologise that our open hours, our peak season terms and charging system do not meet your expectations. Please forward your bank account details to me : your bank's BSB number, your account number and the full name of the bank account by email today. We are refunding your deposit and will issue you with a copy of the bank payment by email and you will be able to make a booking with another facility to suit your dates". They cancelled my booking. No discussion entered into, no phone call, no nothing. After 7 years of custom they decided to terminate our booking because we asked a question (we were not nasty in anyway, just simply asked the question given we had to return early due to unforeseen family circumstances). We never suggested we'd cancel our booking. In fact, we had accepted we'd be paying for the extra two days. Clearly they don't feel they need the business and I can only guess that they took this stance in hope we'd not find anywhere else and we'd be left without care for our dogs. I can't imagine any other business operating like this. I think it's fair to say we won't be recommending them anytime soon.

This truly is a pet resort!…read more 1) Care in custody - I am confident that the staff truly care for the pets that they look after. My pets (one dog and two cats) are always well adjusted and happy after staying there. They seem calm and well cared for - including healthy and happy. 2) Clean and well maintained premises - an excellent indicator is the state of the premises. And the Adelaide Hills Pet Resort is in top notch condition, clean and well maintained. 3) High end - If you are looking for high end premises for your pets then look no further. They have suites which are a luxury for your pet - rooms in the main building with all the things you could wish for your cat or dog - like actual beds with plenty of space and play toys and scratching post and extra hidey-holes (and so much more!). And if you are on a budget they have roomy and well maintained and clean spaces undercover at more reasonable and budget conscious rates. 4) Loads of extras - I love the extras they offer! They will give your pets daily walks, grooming, games, obedience lessons, special attention and more. 5) Diets - Plus, they cater for special diets and will make the extra effort to cook special treats. 6) Staff - But I think the best thing about this business is the staff. They really know what they are doing and the genuinely care about animals. They have helped me with handy tips and suggested things I might want to raise with my vet. Further, the staff have been constant for the last 6 years I have been taking my pets there, so they know them very well and can provide insight that spans years. This business has my highest recommendation. 5 stars!
