I had literally just came from my doctor who handed me a surgeons business card. Later that day I saw one of those commercials if your hernia surgery had gone wrong - they will win for you. I thought to myself - there is zero chance I'm going to have surgery. I started asking around if anyone knew of a way to heal yourself naturally. All the roads led to Dr. angie! My disclaimer - I have never seen a PT in my life. I had little expectations but I had an open mind. My first impression: she was 100% engaged and I felt like she actually cared about me and my recovery. I have to say, I've done a lot of diets in my lifetime and I've been a competitive Raquetball player. At the end of the day, I still look 20lbs overweight. After a few months I honestly didn't notice much of a difference. I'm glad angie took a photo of me when I started because I was shocked to see my before and after pic. I was not only noticeably fitter, but my posture was completely changed. That one picture has given me the motivation to watch what I eat, and also I started doing yoga to increase the momentum. Dr. Angie is the founder of Core Recovery. She holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University and a Bachelor's in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Colorado State University. She specializes in women's and men's pelvic health, core rehabilitation, sports medicine, and prenatal /postpartum training. Angie is enthusiastic and passionate with a focused approach to high-quality care that emphasizes proven techniques to address the deficits that lead to the onset of pain and dysfunction. She is a Master Trainer in the Hypopressive Method, an innovative postural and breath training system also known as Low Pressure Fitness®. She educates and trains other health care and fitness professionals on this revolutionary form of core training and the importance of pelvic health. She also participates as an investigator in ongoing clinical research and presents at local and national venues.

I came across Angie and Core Recovery while visiting Kauai. I spend a lot of time in the water, diving and spearfishing. Before my trip to Kauai I was practicing my breath holds, which I felt were pretty good but not as long as most of my other friends that are at my same level. Upon visiting Kauai, my back was feeling sore and tight. I ended up finding Core Recovery, and Angie helped to diagnose my breath hold was limited by the soreness in my back, which as related to a compression fracture in my vertebrae 20 years earlier. She treated me for the soreness in my back with stretching, massage and posture correction. Most importantly Angie taught me a technique called Hypopressive Breathing which has helped me to open up my diaphragm (which is connected to the compressed vertebrae I damaged 20 years before) and consume more Oxygen. Not only is my back feeling better, my breath holds are longer and I'm getting better blood flow overall. As a side benefit, Angie helped me to identify other issues from old injuries that I had been over-compensating for. I was simply living with these old problems and 'dealing' with them, instead of addressing the root of this issues. I'm so glad I came across Core Recovery and Angie's methods. With many of my past injuries I was under the belief that they would take surgery to correct. With Angie's knowledge and common sense approach I learned that I could correct my problems without some invasive solution. I'd highly recommend visiting Core Recovery if you are in pain or discomfort anywhere on your body. read more
