But I'm trying to be! Why, you ask? Pretty nosy of you, but I'll bite. My reasons are threefold: 1. I no longer play soccer because of physical and temporal limitations. Since that was essentially my only form of exercise, I needed to pick something else up regularly. 2. Yoga seems to be good for mind and body. That's a win. 3. Most importantly, I came out of the pandemic with a manbun (turns out I really like not getting my hair cut). As such, I feel like people assume I do yoga already, so I might as well actually get into it. What's a little disappointing is that even after eight years of doing yoga almost once every four years (up until last month), I am still a fairly hopeless beginner. I'm still wildly inflexible, and still not that bright. But whereas I used to like Tangerine, now I love Tangerine. Regular visits (I'm trying for twice a week lately) have reinforced what a nice community it is. The staff is great (friendly, welcoming, sweet). The space is great (clean, comfortable, well-laid out). The cute puppy that is occasionally here is the best. And the instructors are wonderful. I've only had a few of them because my schedule/children limit the times I can come in, but the ones I've had are all funny, cool, and badass. Ariel, Liz, Abby, whoever else I'm forgetting. They make me feel comfortable, they make me laugh, they pick good music, they help me get better, and they never judge me (out loud) for not knowing what I'm doing. On occasion, they will even use their hands (only if you're comfortable with it) to show me how to improve, which is extremely helpful. I can understand how touching me under even the best circumstances is completely repugnant (something my wife doesn't even like to do), and they do it while I'm a disgusting, sweaty mess. That's dedication. Most of the classes are for "All Levels" which means they have to cater to both horrible beginners (me) and insanely advanced folks (that guy that "warms up" by doing impossible head/handstands, and weird contortions that would tear my back permanently for all time).* And they do it well, for the most part. I realize this is probably just me, but the biggest problem I've encountered is that sometimes the instruction moves too quickly for me. I literally don't speak the language yet (Sanskrit I think?), and I'm still trying to process what I'm being told to do when everyone else is four moves ahead. I'm getting the hang of it, but it's slow going, what with my tiny brain and all. All that said, I'm down with this. Maybe it's because I now have children that I need to get away from, but if you know me, the fact that I'm legitimately enjoying a "workout class" and coming in regularly is completely out of character and downright shocking, really. It's truly a testament to Tangerine's hospitality. I love how nice everyone is. I love how I feel better about everything after I go. I love that they provide a mat and a towel that I will inevitably soak all the way through for the class, and sometimes a cold towel for afterward that feels as good anything that exists in life. There are cubbies to store your shoes, coat rack, lockers that you can set combinations on, and a selfie station! They also have a ton of great merchandise. Signing up for a class was incredibly easy; you can do this right from their website. While signing up, you also are selecting your mat location. I think this is a great rule as it prevents over crowding and provides a more intimate setting. Mats, mat towels, towels and blocks are all provided. There are no showers, but there are changing rooms available. I attended a 6:45pm Freshly Baked class with Catherine and really enjoyed it! She provided several assists which made my practice more rewarding. I left class feeling refreshed and proud that I got such an intense workout in. After class, we received cold towels at the end which was a lovely addition. I will definitely be taking more classes here! If you haven't tried Heatwise yet, you absolutely should.

Hi YTB, I wanted to…read moreshare some feedback about the 6:30p class CLASSIC 26+2 HOT 90 on Tuesday, Nov. 11 led by Caro Lokah. I could see that the studio thermostat was reading 117°F since my mat was positioned in the back corner. Would you say that's an acceptable temperature? Every website I've checked says that temperature is too high for hot yoga, but maybe I'm wrong or missing something. About halfway through the class (45 minutes in), I started feeling too hot and overheated. I was concerned for my well-being and uncomfortably hot. I quietly let Caro know I was too hot when she was nearby me. So I was preparing to leave the class early, but Caro pressured me to stay. This also made me feel more uncomfortable and embarrassed. I've attended hot yoga classes before and even at your studio, but I learned in Caro's class that 117°F is well beyond my tolerance level and a health-risk, in general. I understand that hot yoga is meant to be challenging, but this level of heat felt unsafe. I wanted to make you aware, as I'm concerned that such high temperatures and Caro's response to my situation could pose a risk to your students' health. Could you please confirm if this was intentional and Caro's response to my situation follows the guidelines of Yoga Tribe Brooklyn? The sessions are long, with some lasting up to two hours, and the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, kind and responsive. While I've noticed some younger teachers occasionally playing more modern music, which isn't my favorite, the overall experience is top-notch. The studio has the hottest rooms, which is perfect for hot yoga. I also want to mention that some of the two-star reviews are really unfair. If hot yoga isn't your thing, it doesn't reflect on the quality of this beautiful studio. Please keep up the amazing work and keep those rooms hot!

The asanas are different every class, even with the same teacher. The hands-on assistance by the teachers are always spot on, and the touches of aromatherapy and sound are relaxing and fulfilling. I especially enjoy class with Kucper, Alex, and owner Linda. All teachers are warm and caring and nurture a supportive atmosphere. The other practitioners are lovely, too. The studio is well appointed, clean, and inviting. I always look forward to class!

The owner was our instructor that day and it is clear how passionate it. This isn't a CorePower it's traditional yoga which was a breath of fresh air given my current practice is at CP. I really felt unit 108 cared about my mental well being in pushing me to the next level of my yogi practice. He cared to encourage me to try new poses, fall and picked me back up. He also adjusted any posture I had that was off. I left the class feeling refreshed and confident! The entrance was a bit hard to figure out but eventually i saw you buzzed in and walked up the stairs it was easy to get to the studio. If i lived in the area this would be my go to yoga place. The community is very welcoming and the owner, who recently took over the space from I Am Yoga, is very friendly and cares a lot about the space and bringing wonderful teachers to lead the community in their practice. I was looking for something different than my usual yoga class, so keep in mind, her Restorative Stretch class is NOT yoga. Because this isn't yoga, you'll also want basic equipment with you if you have it, such as a stretching strap, bolster, block and tennis ball. Maya said they tend to adjust the props needed for class based on what people have available at home, which is so thoughtful! The class focused on isolated stretches and working different parts of the body in unique ways with the props. I can tell Maya is a passionate, very intelligent instructor - she was excellent about verbally announcing modifications and checking in on the group. Studio Maya offers dance classes and core classes but no yoga. However, if you have physical limitations, you will be able to keep up in the Restorative Stretch class. It is slow-moving and thoughtful. I love Brooklyn, NY, and the next time I find myself there after the pandemic,, I would absolutely stop in for a class with Maya again!

So, it was a unique experience to have a slower pace class. The studio is massive and there's also a cute changing room that's got Moroccan themed lighting and pillows. The studio has water, water bottles, towels, and all the material you'll use in class (Bosu ball, mat, etc). As for the class itself, I took essential core and had absolutely zero idea of what I was doing. There were a lot of micro movements involved to work out your abs, but as a first timer, I felt lost and disoriented. The instructor, Maya, was of great help. She made sure I had proper posture and movement and gave me individual attention. I don't quite feel the core burn I had hoped for, but she explained the more you do it, the more you learn to isolate your muscles. She was a pleasure to meet and be taught by. Although this form of exercise isn't for me, I understand why others do it. I personally feel like you'd have to engage in it for several months to really understand the movements and see results. Pretty cool Pilates Gym in Brooklyn with lots of friendly people coming in and out and a friendly woman giving me advice about it. We come to New York a lot because Bae models and works here and some of my music stuff is based here and I just like to come here for Boba, let's be honest. So I was looking in, in case we could find a little place to add to our workout repertoires specifically for Barbie doll. Cuz she does this kind of thing. We will definitely consider it in future and I hope they stay open long enough because we usually never get around to what we want to do for years.

After starting classes with Ryann, it's been a, going at least twice a week, being flexible about instructors, and making it a part of my weekly routine, no matter what city I find myself in. Ryann has a spectacular way of teaching that just jives with you, and get's you comfortable with yourself, in a yoga environment. She helps you build comfort and confidence in your practice, that you can take with you wherever the journey of life may lead you. I've mainly taken a Gentle Flow & Restorative class that Ryann teaches at Thriveability in West Portal on Fridays at 5:00 p.m. I've also attended her Gentle Flow class at the same studio on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. Throughout all her classes, Ryann does small bits of guided meditation, trying to get you to disconnect from the busyness of your world, and just to tune into yourself, and be present and in the moment. Her guidance and instructions are also spoken very fluidly and naturally. It doesn't feel like a list of instructions, but a friend trying to walk you through something they authentically enjoy and genuinely care to share with you. She has an extremely friendly and approachable demeanor (and genuinely so.) She listens openly to any pains or issues you might be having with your body that day, and helps with adjustments throughout session according to what you might have told her. Doing yoga more consistently has had such a positive impact on my day to day life. A stronger sense of empathy, attention to detail, patience, kindness, gentleness, the list goes on. I attribute all of that to the confidence and comfort Ryann's classes have helped instill in me --- to disconnect, and embrace every minute, of any session, I might have the pleasure of being a part of (and this just ends up translating to embracing, being grateful, and present, for every minute of everyday!)
