4.5 years ago, I was in search of a new gym, and I'm so glad I found Harbor Fitness in Park Slope! The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions the members have. The gym is consistently being cleaned, and the equipment is well maintained. The class instructors are amazing - full of positive energy and always ensuring that the class members have the proper form for the corresponding exercises or workouts. The personal trainers care about their clients and work with their schedules. If you ever have a question or concern, you can contact Gym Management (via the new app) and poof receive an immediate response: We need new chains for the heavy bags (boxing classes) - done! In Brooklyn for a few days and found this gym. The first-day pass is complimentary which is great. Two-level gym with Cardio, machines, and turf for agility on the first level. The second level is downstairs with all cables, free weights, dumbbells and squat racks. Also the locker room can be found downstairs. Best gym membership I've had in NYC, and I've lived in Brooklyn for 15 years. I've been a member at this gym for almost 3 years now and what I love about this place is a) the saunas b) the classes and c) the non-commercial, run by actual people who care about fitness and health vibe. The staff is always welcoming. There are eucalyptus towels at the ready. The people who come to work out here feel like a community that generally keeps the place respectful and clean. I never have a difficult time finding space or the exact equipment I want to use. There is equipment that I've learned to use here I'd never seen in another gym. The classes are my main go-to: I frequent the yoga and Pilates classes and as someone who has been taking yoga for a long long time, I can say these teachers are great if you're looking for a challenge and equally great if you're brand new. There's also many other boot camp and toning classes as well as cycling classes and they all come with the membership. It's a lot less expensive than a yoga membership anywhere else AND you get the whole gym too. And the sauna. There are saunas in both the men's and women's locker rooms (which also have showers) and I never have an issue claiming a space in the womens' (If I don't have it all to myself.) The saunas definitely are a part of my survival in the Brooklyn winter. Oh and there's smoothies and protein snackies on the way out :))) The hours are plentiful, the people are nice and down to earth, if you're looking for a down-to-earth place to work out to the best of your ability, I highly recommend Harbor Fitness. read more

Been going to this gym for almost two years and really liking it! Staff is very friendly and the facility is very clean. It can get busy for sure, but that's the case for most gyms. I just wish they had an easier way to check in (like a keycard or something). Right now you have to tell the staff your 6 digit code and it feels pretty inefficient. read more

I am a recent member and really enjoying this gym! The front desk staff is lovely and helpful. The locker rooms have sauna and steam rooms which is great. I am getting fantastic care/training from Mike L. He's so knowledgeable and super focused on helping me achieve my goals. I am an older female and want to maintain mobility and upper body & core strength as I age and care for grandchildren! Mike is super professional at all times as well as personable. Great gym, helpful staff, the locker room has a dry sauna and the lockers have combo locks built into them so you don't have to bring your own. They provide large towels for showering as well as small towels to use during your workout (and a minifridge of chilled eucalyptus towels to cool down). Great variety of gear and equipment, The 2 floor layout can get a little crowded during peak weeknight hours ~6-8pm, but they're open until 11pm on weeknights and 9pm on the weekend which is fantastic (the Park Slope YMCA closes 9:30 weeknights and 5pm weekends). Membership includes a decent variety of free classes (Yoga, Spin, HIIT, Pilates, etc). Overall it's a premium gym at YMCA prices! read more

I think this is the best gym in this neighborhood, South Slope. Super friendly staff, very well managed and always very clean for sure. I love the variety of free classes they offer throughout the day. Decent array of equipment to choose from although it can use a little updating. Also it could get too crowded during weekday peak hours, between 6pm to 9pm. Oh the juice bar is amazing. Hands down a must try! Definitely the best feature that earns this gym a 5 star review. read more

I joined Harbor Fitness about 4 months ago and it's been a great experience so far! I made the switch from Blink Fitness to Harbor Fitness and what an upgrade it is. The gym has a variety of machines, barbells, cables and areas to workout in. Even when it's busy (mostly only on Mondays) you can still find space to workout comfortably. Everyone is always welcoming, even the other members. There is a sauna in the women and the men's locker rooms. Even though I've only used the sauna about 3 times, it's a great option to have. There are also eucalyptus towels available that you can use for the sauna. The gym has an app that you can use to look at the class schedule, access your member ID and get any notifications of issues. It's also a clean gym. My one and only complaint is sometimes some of the machines are SO loud- they have a squeaking noise. But it's only a few and it's the same few always. I've been putting on my noise cancellation headphones on which keeps the sound away. Last but not least, the smoothies are always amazing and you have many options for the smoothie or protein powder flavor. If you're not gonna join the gym, you should at least try a smoothie :) read more

As a perk for joining, their staff taught me how to use weight machines for the first time for free. I wish I could continue working out there as it was so easy to walk right over and get a great workout, but I moved too far away from the area. read more

When he broke his hand, there was no problem freezing his membership for a few months. Melody, especially, was very courteous. Great gym. Love the gym, staff, but my only complaint is that it's TOO COLD. During the winter they got the AC still on , fans blasting, and it's 30degrees outside. People want to be warm and break a sweat without getting sick. Complain to the staff everyday about the indoor temp and it never gets adjusted. The staff says they can't control the temperature. It's ridiculous. You have to workout in a sweat suit and a Northface winter coat. read more

I like the other location better. This one, went for a day pass and it was inefficient as there was only one person manning the front, making smoothies telling me to give him 2 seconds. Ended up waiting like 10 minutes just to process a day pass. Nice gym, only complaint is ventilation downstairs is lacking. Gets mad hot. read more

I found Harbor Fitness in Park Slope while using Evolve physical therapy and decided to join based on my observations of the space, members and trainers, even though there are gyms closer to where I live. The gym is clean and well-equipped, and the members generally seem to be respectful of not hogging the machines. Training packages are reasonable, and there is a decent selection of classes. I wish there were more classes throughout the day, however, which is why I am only giving 4 stars. read more

I've been going to this gym on and off for years! I live about a hour away but the travel is definitely worth it. Wide variety of amenities available! Staff is soo friendly and welcoming! The best part is BRENDEN, literally the best trainer there is! He helped me formulate a plan and get back on track towards my goals. I'd come in tired after a long shift at work and leave feeling invigorated after out workouts. He will raise your limits and keep challenging you, but only because he truly wants you to accomplish your goals! I've gotten so much stronger, physically and mentally, because of him. I've been going here for a few months and it's the best decision I've ever made. I was gym shopping for a bit but this is worth every (fair and reasonably priced) cent. It's super clean, the equipment is all up to date and works wonderfully, the staff is so nice and helpful. The entire facility is gorgeous with lots of space. They have a sauna I've never used but I like knowing that I could if I wanted to. I go in the morning before work and it never feels overcrowded. My only complaint, and I realize this is so nit picky it's ridiculous, they have old water fountains that aren't made for bottles and thats just me searching for anything to be wrong so this doesn't sound too good to be true. Also their classes are fab! They have a really well balanced schedule and each trainer is so supportive and amazing. I've taken a few but my absolute favorite is boxing with Orlando, it's a killer but so fun. I wish he instructed more classes at park slope that I could attend around my work schedule but it gives me more motivation to just never miss a Sunday now. read more

I was a member at Harbor Fitness Park Slope for two years before recently moving to Boston. I had a fantastic experience at the gym. There is plenty of space, an awesome turf area, four Olympic lift platforms, large studio and more. Basically every type of exercise you can imagine is available at Harbor Park. I have been going to Harbor fitness off and on for about 15 years. I have also tried other gyms but have not really liked them. Harbor has a great layout and lots of space and the staff are always super understanding and supportive. Honestly it feels like a neighborhood gym vs a chain and at the same time very professional and knowledgeable. The equipment selection is great and the huge free weight room is awesome. During covid the gym has really taken everyone's needs into consideration and allowed for membership freezes without fees for those folks that aren't comfortable going in at the same time taking all safety precautions for those that are active and attending. The support around covid has been incredible. Even though it's a bit further away from me than other gyms Harbor will always be my spot. read more

They have an array of machines (probably all that you need & more), & tons of classes (well not sure if that has changed since Covid). The staff is super friendly & the prices are affordable.
