I told the ladie that checked me in Amanda A I lost 30 lbs and asked about 5 times to weigh me,she actually argued and refused. The nurses are inexperienced it took 3 people and 4 pokes to get blood. The lump on my lung is making it hard to breathe and they refuse to give me a CT scan to see if it's gotten bigger. I told the rude lady from registry that the 3 times they sent me to south bend because they didn't have the doctor's I needed my Michigan Medicaid wouldn't pay and it went on my credit report so she told me maybe I should go back to south bend, I've never been treated so bad at a hospital. Stear clear of this hospital unless you have Michigan Medicaid and don't have transportation to go elsewhere. This hospital sucks! read more

Review is not about care, it is about calling in and not having enough staff to take a call. I don't mind a short wait but hung up when told I was number 11 on the wait list. Call was just to tell them to quit sending "time to schedule appt." notices for my 97 yr. old mother. She had a stent a decade ago, doing great for her age. She said she didn't need a routine check for it, wouldn't do anything if they found an issue anyway, has a DNR in place. This is what happens with a for profit health care system in the US, cut everything to the bare bone to increase profits for the shareholders (wealthy investors). The patients and the employees both suffer. So keep sending your letters that ask her to let you know if she no longer wishes to get them. read more

This review is just specific to Emily, and RN in the ER department. Maybe she is having a bad day, maybe she sucks as a person, maybe she is in the wrong line of work. But yelling at someone who is crying while in pain, makes me question why she is here at all. I took my husband to corewell hospital in Niles Mi. They were discharging him. I asked for another doctor was told no . I said I want 2nd option the doctor again me no. When I asked to speak with his boss he said he didn't have boss. He walked out door. Then charge nurse walked in with security. Will NEVER GO BACK. Security guard was yelling at me. I despise Corewell Health. My mother is 86, not tech savvy, and I'm trying to get her care for her memory problems. After making us wait an hour for the appointment, then scolding my mom for suggesting that was a long wait, the doctor has failed to request the tests I'm told to schedule, 40 minutes on hold is the average for the scheduling line hold time, and now my mom got an email from Corewell health (at 3:30 on a Friday) saying there is no order for the test we scheduled, and the test will be cancelled. You'd think the Corewell test people could call the Corewell doctor instead of telling the lady with memory problems to do it. Last week we waited for a 10 minute test for 2 hours, and there we were told that one other test was cancelled, but no one told us. I would give this place five stars if I could. However, unfortunately I can't. Everyone I dealt with on a medical level was amazing. I was in town on vacation and fell down a set of wet steps. I was worried my leg was broken, so I went to the emergency room. Everyone from the nurses to the doctors to the radiologist were amazing. I was pretty embarrassed about having to go to the ER under those circumstances but they were really supportive. My only hesitation in giving a five star review is that the woman who was doing registration clearly had no idea what she was doing. I had pictures of my insurance card. However, she could not figure out how to process it. She spent 20 minutes to a half an hour with me at the emergency check in and then came back to my bed to ask me more of the same questions. If she had gotten the information, correct, I would not have a problem with her doing that. However, Given the size of the recent bill I received, it appears that she did not get the information correct. Now I have to contact the hospital and contact my insurance and spend a lot of my own time trying to figure out this billing issue when it could easily have been resolved, if she simply handled it correctly. She acknowledged that she didn't really understand what she was doing. It's unfortunate that I have to mention this because otherwise, I was completely satisfied with the service I received, especially given a somewhat embarrassing situation. read more

My girlfriend went to the emergency room got checked in and sent to the waiting room, no one was in there and she waited in there for over 45 minutes before being called back. I arrived at the hospital with our strictly breast fed son and the person at the front desk said my son couldn't go back and see his mom unless the child was being seen too! Went here after an od and the treatment was honestly appalling. It happened months ago, and it still makes me very upset and, honestly, scared just thinking about it. The nurses were short, sarcastic, and patronizing, which is entirely inappropriate at any time, let alone after an od. A nurse accused me of lying as I was sitting sobbing and crying. In the ambulance, I was asked "so are you just sad or something?" I was just so shocked at how stupid I was being treated. I felt abused and scared. I am scared to go back there for medical care and scared of being confronted for this review. read more

When I was in 5th grade I got transported from school here seeing as it was the closest. I came here to get a simple x-ray to see how bad the break in my arm was. I got to the hospital and got admitted into a room. I was in there for three to four hours BY MYSELF because they would not let an 11 year old kids parents come back. Yes, they would not let a literal child see their parents in a time of stress. They finally let my mother come back but still would not let my dad come and see me. It took me another two hours before they even came in to get me for the x-ray. They transported me on a wheelchair to the X-ray room and continued to throw the lead filled mat onto my lap and not tell me what it was for. They then continued to get upset when I did not understand what they meant when they said "twist your arm" even though i said countless times I could not move my arm. They took me back and finally gave me medicine. After they gave me meds it took the radiologist another two hours to read the scans. They then continued to cast my arm wrong and gave me an adult sized sling. I am not in 9th grade and still cannot fully move my arm and still get shots of pain where I broke it. To add to the drama, when I was in 3rd grade, my parents took me here when I again, broke my arm. Keep in mind I was a nine year old at the time. We got there and they asked me how much pain i was in. I told them it only hurt bad when i moved it so my current pain was a three. They proceeded to try and give a 9 year old CHILD 50mg's of Fentanyl. After my mom spoke up and said thats way too much for a child, they looked at my mom and shouted, SHOUTED, "this is none of your business lady we are the professionals we know whats best" my mother continued to say that she was a nurse for 15 years and that your not even supposed to give that much to an adult with a pain level of 10. They again shouted, "if you are a nurse then why dont you come do my job for me" then dropped all the medication on the bed and left the room and did not come back for two hours. I would never in my life wish this kind of treatment upon anybody. I will never be going back. read more

I got immediate care. Waiting time listed on web site was accurate. Care given was above and beyond compassionate -- The nurse, the physicians, the medical student, and maintenance, were all thorough and explained things as they were working. OH MY...this was in such contrast to an callous ER that I left after waiting for 30 minutes, screaming and writhing in pain with children and others watching, being told the placement in a room would be 'not soon' while the web stated 20 minute wait. I will always use and promote Lakeland ER in Niles MI. They are a wow in my book. read more

i had to bring a friend into the ER who was having a mental health crisis and one of the "sit ins" or "sitters", whatever you call the people who sit with people on watch, was COMPLAINING about having to "watch the crazies" and another man said "i'd rather brush my teeth for 3 days straight than be a sit in". all of this within EAR SHOT of my friend and his father. this is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING to say within ear shot of someone in the middle of a mental health crisis. it's 100,000% disgusting that they hire people who clearly have no compassion for others. i called to complain and NOTHING WAS DONE. they pretty much told me that it didn't happen and blew me off. mocking mentally ill people while working in a hospital is something that's generally frowned upon, or so i thought. they also have someone extremely transphobic in their Watervliet branch as a preacher. i'm sure there's lots of people who work here that are passionate about their jobs, but the ER nurses are apparently not those people. read more
