You feel the dedication of this 100 family church and their volunteer effort because this 50th Anniversary Festival is really all about the food. There are no imported dance troupes or an extensive vendor presence here. There is authentic handmade and homemade food. When you pull onto 21st street on the North Side of Fort Worth from Jacksboro Highway, you can actually smell the cooking food. Herbs and meat wafting across their parking lot as you move on to find a place to park. North Side High School allows the Church to use their lot and the Church has a shuttle van. Thank goodness. What a hilly area! Built on a bluff, there's a beautiful view to the west behind the grills that are active with souvlaki, shrimp and pita and the rotisseries of lamb and beef gyro meat. It's only $1 admission and then the decision is what to eat. The festival offers a lunch and dinner sit down plate with Greek salad, green beans, Greek-style rice, spanakopita, and home-baked roll. Children's plates are two chicken drumsticks, green beans, Greek-style rice, and home-baked roll. Lunch entrees are Athenian Chicken or Vegetable Moussaka with the above sides for $13. At dinner, for $16, it's Lamb Leg slices, Chicken or Moussaka. Kids plates $8. We opted for the food booths. Payment is by $1 or $5 token. The food is a bargain and by the size of the crowds coming and going and filling their auditorium, the word is out. We had tender skewers of grilled marinated pork tenderloin souvlaki first. $6 for the pita sandwich and $4 for a skewer. We went back for Dolmas. $5 for 3 fat, tasty, beef and rice, tender grape leaf wrapped Dolmas. Savory! An enormous Greek Salad with meaty Greek olives was just $5. Gyros with supple buttery grilled pita bread were $8 and absolutely delicious. I saw the portions for spanakopita, moussaka and pastitsio and they were hefty for $4, $8 and $7 respectively. There was a small Taverna counter; other sodas, drinks and water were $2. The huge array of handmade desserts and breads were sold inside. Assortments to go were also available. This small church had also frozen all your Greek favorites, in large and small quantities, to take home with you. The moussaka went fast. It was Sold Out, in both sizes, by 3 p.m. on Saturday. Unhappy face! I'll know to take a lightweight cooler and buy it first thing next time. Yes, there will be a next time. Modestly priced and enthusiastically worked by church members, I thought the food festival was terrific. Their young people have Folk Dance teams who are fun loving - they've obviously been practicing - and dance on the auditorium stage. I didn't get to see the smaller children. It can be elbow to elbow inside; but the dining room empties out after the dancing stops for awhile and it was a great place to eat. There are also some tables and chairs outside. I think remembering that this is a fundraiser is key here. I sat in their sanctuary and could see the fruits of their labors. It's really a rewarding and enjoyable experience and they pour themselves into it and you can reap the rewards! It's Good food! Go! On through Sunday 11A - 3P.

There was a trail mix of Americans, Asians, Africans, and Hispanics, from young to old, dressed in everything between casual flip-flops to carefully-coiffed headdresses. Today's sermon was given by a guest priest, Father Joseph Nguyen. He incorporated many elements of a good sermon by using a real narrative (Buzz Aldrin's comMOONion) to relate and relay the gospel into our modern lives. The potency of the message, however, starts to wear off after about two anecdotes. An important element of GREAT sermons that some priests forget to factor in is brevity. Ten (or an absolute max of 15) minutes is all you really have, fathers. After that, your flock gets fidgety, and "too tired to be inspired."

I mentor at the elementary school near by, had a dedication for the mentors . They brought the students in to talk how wonderful their mentors are, but when I told the counselor about my students, she look at the list , mine wasn't even listed at all. The counselor showed me the list. I was hurt feelings. Second, when the women had Bible study , more than once, they didn't provide me a book. Left out again. Third, They had a women's gathering outside the church parking lot. When they had pickle ball, I wanted to learn and participate, one of the members pulled me to the side , to see if I can hit a ball with a racket , like I was special need , btw I had played volleyball in high school and tennis .. I don't need to be instructed.. Forth , I wanted to give a member food because she had a hip replacement, I got a long message stating that I'm not aloud to bring food , because iim not on the list. I have been going to this church since 2014. Third .. The women had a ladies brunch, I decorated a table . The speaker was talking, I couldn't move my chair because I had shoulder pain. She called me at home asking why I didn't move my chair around. After I told her why , she still ask me why ? Why didn't I move my chair around . Starting to correct me.. This church doesn't understand that I see and understand how differently they treat me. I went to the church garage sale there, when I came an elder was making critical remarks towards me. I had a teenage boy talk terrible towards me when we did Super Wednesday. Just because a person has dyslexia doesn't mean you have a right to treat that person differently, I pray at home a lot for the members , I may not pray out loud there , doesn't mean I don't believe in God. I went to the women's Bible study at the ladies house, when it was my turn to read the verse , the lady stop me right of front everyone , and said I heard enough!! I never been so embarrassed and hurt.. Is that what a church is about? Acting horrible and treat one so badly thinking that I'm not smart enough to understand how I was treated? Feeling are hurt . I have been to this church for 11 years, and there is a member been going there for 2 years has been treated a whole lot better than me. I should be treated the same. Is the church is political, yes it is!! I go there to worship and not to be treated badly. I will continue to go there, until we find another church.. I hope and pray for all the people treated me differently, hoping they change . At this point thats the only thing I could do right now.. and when I do speak, I get laughed at or treat differently and front of everyone. I go to worship, and that's all I do. And pray for the people there..

When we lost our twin daughters to death, members of the community were there for us. Later our two son's graduated from the associated school, participated in soccer, basketball, alter serving and in an incredible Cub Scout Pack & Boy Scout Troop. Our son's and other boy scouts grew to become young men of integrity. Example: Our son's identified, initiated, planned and lead reconstruction projects for the associated convent with an estimated value of $240,000. Others created grotto's, and performed landscaping. Each learned much by such projects. Also each priest and nun that has served our community has exhibited wonderful and unique talents in their service to thousands of families in Christ. This community has been and is home to many wonderful people. Come join, introduce yourself and get involved. It's a blessing.

The priest was in so much rush he probably lasted less than 5 mins there and didn't address us with one prayer as a family not even the immediate family. Very disappointed. Ariel Munoz was the priest that barely gave the time of day to my dad and could careless of our family.

The parking lot was full but, I was still able to find a good spot despite the car next to me was a bit overlapped. They had Three Women greeters who were engaged in conversation. One gentleman got right in front of me and said hello? Noone ushered me to my sit. That's ok. I found the perfect spot! Everybody kept to themselves and they were all spread out in groups on the first floor and balcony. There was never an opportunity to say hello to one another. The majority of the Parishioners are elderly. The music was like I've never heard before. So beautiful and on a professional level, like an Orchestra with a Choir. I believe the worship team has a degree in Music Ministry. The very first song was beautiful Violen Piece. The Worship Team did such a good job that the Music Conductor smiled and beamed with joy as he held his hands up motioning strength to his worship team as a way of saying, Thank you and I'm proud of you! Such a proud moment. The have several singers but one Singer stood out to me. He was a healthy average height Asian male who spotted a nice suit. He stood talk and sang with confidence knowing that Jesus is King! It's as though, he was like, look at me, this is how God has made me to be! Such a powerful performance! The Pastor was a nice looking Silver Fox with a sense of humor and a great exegis of scripture. His sermon was easy to understand. He talked about your favorite game show. The favorite game show is the blame game. He talked about how not owning up to your sin can lead you down a destructive path. There were notes on the screen but they were taken down too soon. If your a Senior, this would be a good Church for you. You will love the music and preaching.
