Due to missing a couple of steps on the stairs and landing on top of my right foot (see ugly…read morephotos) I have been out of commission for a while. I did some research and discovered Synergy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and liked that it was near the subway and that people in the neighbourhood recommended it so highly. I showed up in a medical boot with laryngitis (which I got the day before, damn it) so I wrote up all the details so my physiotherapist Jesse Awenus could get a good take on my particular situation since I literally could not speak for myself. I will admit that when I showed up that it was not just my ankle and throat that were broken. I hated walking in there so 100% vulnerable but it had been three weeks since I hurt my foot and it was no longer improving at all. As someone with fibromyalgia, any little injury can mean long term problems so I was just heartbroken. Jesse took my situation very seriously and was compassionate but tough in his belief that I can heal. His treatment was excellent and the exercises I went home with for homework were very effective. I went from being scared to do anything to make the situation worse to confidently working through the discomfort to build strength. He is clearly a highly trained healer that took my sorry grumpy pants ass and made me believe I could walk again. The photo with me wearing the black shoes was taken the first day I went for a walk without the boot, just a couple of weeks after treatment. I even felt comfortable enough for him to do manual manipulation which ended up realigning my foot dramatically. If I could afford to keep going every week, I would. Jesse did his best with the time and budget I had to get me walking again which I am! I even went on the subway yesterday for the first time. I have been to a lot of physiotherapist. I have never had a more positive experience. The space is bright, the people are friendly and the treatment is beyond impeccable. My only complaint is having to climb those stairs to get to Jesse's office but because the work he did was so impressive I will not hold that against the clinic. That said, there do seem to be offices on the main floor so please make sure that if you have severe mobility issues to call ahead to make sure the stairs will not be an issue. Thanks to Synergy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation I can now get back to my foodie reviews! For the first time in a long time I have hope in my ability to heal. Within a few sessions I was feeling so much better. The staff at Synergy cares about what they do and wants to help the patients. My therapist took the time to ask me all kinds of questions about why I was there and what my specific goals were for seeking out physiotherapy. They did hands on manual therapy to ease tension in my back and neck, explained to me why I was having the pain and what I could do about it on my own. I really loved that my physio took the time to send me an email link with a customized home exercise program videos that I could easily follow on my own. All in all the clinic experience has been the best I have experienced. One more great thing is that the clinic is within a 2 minute walk of the Woodbine subway station and is right on Danforth.

Each time I have gone to Manni and the Ready Room to get fixed up, the recovery time is amazing. I am usually back playing right away and back at 100% within 2 weeks. It really helps to know that I can play my best and have fun, and that if injuries happen they won't ruin my season! Manni combines all aspects of Physio so he can do whatever will make the most sense for you injury. He is also an athlete himself so he can give you advice and instructions that you know he has had experience with, to both fix injuries that happen and to prevent future injuries.

Got scammed by this place…read more Paid for a baseline test from my gym. Went for a baseline checkup test for a concussion. I was lead into a room to do something similar to a test. another guy does the baseline review with me. I went to check out and there was a 95 fee. Baseline reviews are free, so I asked how come. Turns out the first guy didn't tell me what he was doing for me. He goes on to babble about how he needed to assess my physiology for my concussion. That he knew I would fail my baseline anyways. Ironically when I came in he told me that likely the numbers would match and that's just what happens. The other guy told me I was pretty close however I have symptoms. Garbage clinic for ripping off old folks. I had a bit shocked and paid and turned around after I left. Tore them a new hole and didnt pay for a bs fee. Don't ever go there, waste of my morning. I had to wait few months for MRI appointment and see a specialist. I decided to try physiotherapy while waiting for my appointments. In my first appointment, Ali listened to me carefully, examined my shoulder, neck and limited movement. He diagnosed it's frozen shoulder, explained what are the stages of frozen shoulder, took the time to show me what muscles/tendons are causing the pain, what should or shouldn't I do and planed a treatment routine using manual stretches (very painful!!), Laser, ultrasound, Acupuncture twice a week. After few weeks, my range of motions increased and had less pain. He even thought me how to put a pillow under my shoulder and arm at night so there is less pressure on my shoulder so I can get some sleep. He is very professional, knowledgeable, informative and cares about his patients. I still book appointment to see Ali every couple months for maintenance and relieve the tension buildup in my neck & shoulder due to my type of work. I've had massages before, even massages at doctor's clinics, and yet none of them felt as clinical and effective as Mateo's. You're not just lying on a table and falling asleep for an hour. Mateo asks you about your problems, actively treats them, and (much like the physio sessions) assigns you homework exercises to keep the problems away. My back will be eternally grateful to his work. After trying self exercises, massagers and taking advil, I decided to give chiro or physio a try since nothing was working. Went to HealthMax Physiotherapy in Thornhill and was so happy with the entire experience. The front desk was so helpful and welcoming. The Chiropractor I saw made me feel so comfortable and was extremely knowledgeable. After my first treatment, I already felt so much relief and was able to walk without shooting pains. It is a very difficult and lonely road to travel when one lives with constant, never ending pain. Aside from the fact that it is depressing, debilitating and frustrating to try and live a normal life, it is also very degrading and embarrassing to constantly have people treating you, listening to your sad story and at times wiping away your tears. By chance one day I walked into HealthMax Physiotherapy clinic as it was very close to my home and I decided to try one more clinic before giving up altogether. I had the good fortune of meeting with the wonderful doctors, therapists and staff and immediately felt like part of a caring family and I have been receiving treatment ever since. Dr. Mirza not only devoted hours of his valuable time to talk to me, often late into the evening so as to try and determine the correct course of action for my various issues, but he also made a point of following up and looking into many different options to help me in every way possible.
