From years of attending many churches all over the United States, I am happy to have come upon Cornerstone Chapel as it has lit a fire in me as I feel that I am closer with my walk with Christ than ever before. I do know that from experience that not every church will meet the needs of each person nor can each person expect a church to meet their needs. That is the awesome thing about FREEDOM to pick your church. If one does not work for you, keep looking. With Cornerstone Chapel, I have learned more about the bible and how to apply the teachings to my everyday life as we are to live and walk with Christ. If we do not know (learn the bible), a blind walk we will go (based on free will). I also enjoy that the church does not hound you to become a member. You are free to attend services and NOT be pressured by 20 people to become members. I experienced that at another church just down the road. If you want to give to the church, you can. If you do not want to give, you do not have to give. I really enjoy that they share where the money is going so that there are no "hidden" things making you wonder. read more

The reason I'm giving one star is because as a member of the community who walks their dogs on the sidewalks along the property, I find it very hypocritical and extremely unchristian to have signs posted no trespassing all along the sidewalks that border your property. Would Jesus have said to the lost and sinners, "Do not walk on the grass or earth my father created, it belongs only to those who worship there!"? I believe God would welcome every soul to partake in his beauty and splendor. The explanation was logical and pragmatic, sad that even a church has to be worried about lawsuits! If you have/strive for a BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW then cornerstone chapel is for you. Pastor G speaks the word of God and does not shy away. We absolutely love him. They have a mother's room that is amazing for nursing moms or moms with young kids. The kids ministry is AMAZING and the volunteers really love to help. This is basically an evangelical, right wing church. Minister does preach some good sermons, but strayed away from his calling as a servant of God and did a Trump Republican-vote rally as a sermon. Claimed to use on conservative black person as the voice for all blacks which wasn't good. There are no minorities on the staff and it doesn't appear Basically, it's an affluent church in the highest median income county in the US. If you fall within that income you feel welcomed. Church needs to reach across the aisle to all God's people, not just the wealthy. read more

I have been watching online during the pandemic. Pastor's teaching is the way all pastors should be teaching from tge pulpit. So informative and encouraging! I don't want to complain, but music time is pathetic. They need to learn hymns and there are plenty of excellent contemporary songs they could do. Instead, the stage folks appear like they are trying out for American Idol. Pop music is sad, and singing it in the church is not edifying. If they had good worship like reformed churches and Pastor Gary teaching, they wouldn't have room for the 20000 more people who would attend. read more

One of the things that attracted me to this church was the fact that a trusted co worker (who went to seminary) chose this church after trying and being disillusioned with other churches in our area. We stayed because out pastor goes through the Bible, chapter by chapter. Its like a college course in the Bible that takes 6 years to finish! I have been praying for a Bible-based church ever since I moved to Loudoun County 6 months ago. I kept resisting going to Cornerstone Chapel because my GPS said it was 26 min away, but I got there in 20 --no traffic on a Sunday! I immediately felt the energy in the entranceway of a multi-cultural, all age groups represented, family-centered church. The music was inspirational and you could easily sing along -- no overly high notes -- and I quickly felt that this church was different -- in a nothing but good way! The pastor was "real" -- humble and funny and dang smart! He is a gifted speaker. I wasn't sure where the sermon was going at first, but sure enough -- the pastor hit it home and made the Biblical passages applicable for today. For the first time in a long time...I felt convicted, spoken to, comforted, inspired, challenged and blessed. Did you know this church was just recently voted as the best in Loudoun County?! Yeah...and I was there for the announcement but not at all surprised. If you go, make sure you visit the welcome/info area. I had a list of questions and one of the Pastor's sons, Austin, answered every one of them until I asked about the small groups and then he turned me over to the small group pastor. This gentleman was so accommodating and informative and had such a welcoming spirit. I am sold...found my church home! read more

My family has been attending Cornerstone since 2012. Pastor Gary is one of the best pastors I've had the privilege of learning under. His care and concern for the church are evident and clearly communicated from the pulpit. We are a large church, but the ministries do a great job making an effort to make opportunities available to get plugged in. I love that there is a healthy balance between emotionalism and intellectualism, which is a blessing to the congregation, given the location in Northern Virginia. I'm surprised that reviews criticize an infrequent coverage of the New Testament. Pastor Gary preaches through the Bible, and ties each and every sermon to the saving message preached by the New Testament. Don't sell the church or God's message short by only looking at the topics of each sermon- you only have to listen to them to hear that every single message is connected to the saving work of Jesus Christ described in the Gospels. It also is important to realize that the church is an instructional place. True Christians want to be more like Christ, and so any good church (including Cornerstone) will have elements in the message that admonish non-Christlike behavior with the message of grace and restoration to the end that the congregation becomes more Christ-like and extends this to the community that we interact with. read more

I've been going to Cornerstone for the last 3 and half years. They are very welcomig and always there to assist with whatever you need. Great teachings every Wednesdays and Sundays. I've seen a bad review here and it is best to check it out for yourself and not just a one time visit either and maybe ask for a tour. read more

Cornerstone Chapel is a true blessing to me. Pastor Gary teaches book by book and chapter by chapter from the Bible and always makes those teachings relevant and clearly understood, even if I do not necessarily agree with all points. I love the guest teachers that they have. Even if I do not necessarily agree with all those teachers are teaching, there is always something to learn and I am always deified. Those complaining about the politics-I believe it is a pastor's duty to educate about various politicians and where they stand. As for those criticising about not being able bring a cup of coffee into the sanctuary, please keep in mind this is not a movie theatre. It is a house of worship, a sanctuary and coffee should be consumed prior to entering. Part of this is due, I am sure, to liability for someone spilling scorching hot coffee on someone during the service. If you want to learn how God's word is relevant to today and understand His word more fully, this church is for you, regardless of other things you may not agree with. I challenge anyone to find a church in which they 100% agree. I attend every week on line because I do not live locally and I am so blessed to have found this church. read more

To the person who said this is church is CT west you have no idea what you are saying. My family member was married to one of the leaders at CT and I can tell you this church is NOTHING close to CT. Thank God in heaven bc that church tore families apart and this pastor helped to put broken families and lives back together. For the person who was offended by the pastor comparing the political parties stances and having us decide which party was inline with the word of God, well then I say to you, start reading your Bible instead of looking to the world for your moral compass. The pastor NEVER said to vote for one party or a presidential candidate. He compared the two parties and said decide for yourself. It has been very clear to me since Reagan what party has been inline with biblical principles. To those who haven't attended this church yet I'd encourage you to go online or in person and decide for yourself. If you want to grow in your faith in God and in the knowledge of His word, then I wholeheartedly recommend attending. If you want a church that doesn't care whether you know God's truth and doesn't care about your salvation and only tells you what you want to hear for fear of offending then that person is correct in saying this church may not be right for you. I am new, so I will change this review if my opinion changes, but I will start by saying that I have lived in Sterling VA for 3 years and could never find a church that wasn't led by a full on '2021 coward', or an all-out communist. So when I discovered this church even existed (and wasn't led by a creepy traitor of the New Testament), I knew I had my 3 yr long answer to prayer. Thank you pastor for your stand for Jesus & a determined balanced teaching of the ENTIRE New Testament as written. Thanks for your courage in not caring if that brings communist CNN to your doorstep. We have your back and God has all of our backs in these end times! The left tries to force (in bullying fashion), half the New Testament to be thrown in the garbage so ears can be tickled and 'anything goes' against Gods commands. Only the brave and strong in Jesus will not betray Him under this pressure. The sweetie pie pie drippy syrupy portions of the gospel are wonderful!!!, but the tough love parts STILL happen to be 80% of the word of Christ. Tough love is God's pure beautiful love for us as well (and for good reason). People are starving from the neglect of a balanced gospel: AS written. We are creating unbiblical baby-fied weaklings not at all able to handle life. This is one of the reasons the suicide rates are through the roof since 1992 and astronomical in the last ten years. People do not need baby-fied false pandering and lies. They can handle the father-ship of God and His full list of wisdom and instruction, accountably, meaning, structure, reward and consequence of one's daily actions. It does ZERO favor for people; to tell them that 'anything goes' and God likes it all. People young and old are begging for the FULL truth in all its depth beauty/splendor. It is beautiful to have a dad that has structure and rules. The hate for those rules is foolishness unfathomable. Joy is found in following God: His way His terms, and not glorifying pandering to the flesh. Most pastors wanted to be popular with men more than popular with God. Especially when Christians LET the communists take over the local school boards, bar association, Medical boards, universities, Oval office, journalism, Congress, Mayoral houses, Governor's mansions, attorney general positions, police chief roles......etc. Pastor Hamrick simply understands the vast mistake the church of the lord Jesus Christ made in doing that. That was and still is the gross error against God that occurred. The pulpits, over the last 60 years have failed to remind the congregations that God needs "Senators and congressmen and school board members for Jesus" (NOT JUST MISSIONARIES abroad). By sins of omission the pastors of this country handed the Christian country God gave; to the devil on a silver platter. Yes, its that bad. I started going to this church when I was in elementary school and stopped attending when I was about 19. I was super involved in the youth group & would not recommend this church to anyone... especially kids. There was a ton of perfectionism, fear, guilt and shame that was sold to us. Adults were introducing topics that are not appropriate. This church stiffled most forms of individuality, curiosity, and exploration of identity, which is a necessary stage of adolescencent development... not to mention hell was used to scare us into believing their beliefs and girls, in particular, were given a lot of fear messages, and shamed for not acting/dressing in what they deemed honoring... Its sold under "relationship" with Christ, but the teachings are more about morality vs spirituality . Many of the people I went to youth Group with have a strong dislike of this church. I have begun to unlearn the messages I've received from going here, which has caused a lot of anxiety in my adult life. I've been to a lot of churches but this one is not it. I don't attend this church because it is to far a way from me. I listen to 97.5 hope fm on my radio at 1:00 pm and love listening to pastor Gary Hamrick do his bible study. And I've learned more about the bible in the last 3 to 4 months then i have in my life time. i pray he stays on this radio station. I read the bible more and really enjoy it. There are other good pastor's on that 97.5 hope fm and I really enjoy there bible teaching's as well. I thank God for this station alot because it is a blessing!! I'm from a VERY CORRUPT BLUE STATE CALIFORNIA, in where many, not all, churches dare not touch on Biblical TRUTH that is God's word for fear of offending the woke crowd and/or getting backlash. Was introduced to Pastor Gary at Cornerstone Chapel. This pastor, as well as the other great pastors there have helped me to understand God's word. I'm sure there are other pastors out there who maybe do as good a job as him, but in my own experience, Gary's truly helped me understand the Bible on a deeper level. It's like getting a college level bible teaching that someone like me with an elementary level on scripture can understand. I've shared his many sermons with family and friends. Say what you will about Cornerstone or it's pastors. One thing I am certain, I've come to understand more about my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all that GOD wants not just for me but ALL of US. That came not by reading then hearing few verse teachings from a pastor on any given Sunday, but by reading then hearing Cornerstone's teachings, on any given book, chapter, verse. You will come to know and understand what the Bible actually says. No more "I don't get it" head scratchings. You will learn. Then you will believe, or at least know what is there to believe to then hopefully make a choice to accept Jesus Christ as your savior which then the Holy Spirit will begin working in you in ways you had no idea was there to be worked on. I read the reviews before I went and thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the reviews are wrong. Wow! Immediately after the song, the money basket was passed around. I've never known it to be that early first thing in the service. THEN, the Pastor starts off introducing the people who are running for local office who are present at the church. He stated they support Christian views and we should support them. My husband and I were looking at each other like is this seriously happening right now ??? That's exactly what the reviews said. The pastor stated if anyone was offended they can find a new church and not to email him bc he did not care. After he introduced them he said they can leave bc they had sat through all three services. Meaning their only purpose for being there was for publicity. The pastor used valuable time he could have been helping people know the word to promote his own political propaganda. Is that what church is for ? After 20 mins of promoting these people and bashing their opponents he made the most distasteful "joke" about how there we had about 20 minutes left of service so we can " get home for kick off but there were no good football teams playing at 1pm". This place is the next Calvary Temple cult of loudoun county. The tell you who you you HAVE to vote for during political times. We watched a new father bring his coffee into the sanctuary and it was rudely taken out of his hand! A new father needs that coffee. We have watched as they split family's apart because one member needed to sit in the handicapped section and there were 'to many of them' even though none of the other handicapped seats were taken. The pastor is so full of himself that he thinks he needs an armed security guard next to him in the sanctuary. The pastor says that all smokers are going to hell. He will read you the Bible but doesn't give you a single tool to help you grow in your faith. There's no challenging just judging no room for grace. There's are just a few of the things we witnessed, we tried to give this church a chance but it just kept getting worse! I would never take a believer or non believer to this church because the whole point of church is to bring people to Jesus not to judge them. Jesus ate with the sinners and tax collectors and i don't think pastor Gary would be caught dead with 'those kinds of people.' I hope others in this church learn to speak up and love the way Jesus loved!! There might be some great pastors at this church but Pastor Gary is leading this church down the wrong road!! read more

The congregation is diverse - ethnically, in age, in background - which is good to see. The church is well-organized, well-lit, very modern and it's easy to see and hear the message every week, whether there or online. Pastor Gary is knowledgeable of the Bible, biblical history, Greek and Hebrew. He's obviously a very well educated man and a good speaker to boot. I appreciate his use of pictures and props to illustrate things about the Holy Land and things referenced in the Bible. Unfortunately, a lot of his knowledge of Church history is gleaned from authors, perhaps classes, even conversations with people who hate the historical church. If you disagree with doctrine, that's only to be expected now that there are 73,000 denominations; but if you say something that is demonstrably untrue, that's malicious. As an example, Gary taught that there were 66 books in the Bible before the Reformation and the reformers preserved the purity of the Bible as agreed upon by all the wisest Church leaders in the Early Church, while the Catholic Council of Trent corrupted the Bible by adding to it. Anyone who could Google history, or pick up a book on the subject, would see that his teaching was untrue because it was backwards. He, himself, cited the Council of Carthage that canonized the Bible and every historical record says that they agreed on 73 books. He has made similar misstatements about several other councils - which I researched and found his teaching incorrect, not by opinion but by historical record. I don't find Gary Hamrick to be malevolent or pernicious by nature, but his occasional invectives against Catholics are not only lacking in charity but factually calumnious. It's truly unfortunate for someone so knowledgeable and erudite. read more

This church is AMAZING!! We have been attending for the past 6 months and love it. The people are all friendly and welcoming, and the Sunday school classes for the kids is phenomenal. My family has attended Cornerstone for almost 20 years. It's a great church, and I would recommend it to anyone in the Leesburg area looking for a church home. Great church if all you are interested in is attending on Sunday mornings, and maybe on Wednesday evenings. The senior pastor is an excellent preacher and brings the Scriptures to life in his messages as he preaches through the Bible from cover-to-cover. If you are a single adult, over 35, however, beware. We started attending Cornerstone three years ago and have realized what a church is suppose to be. Paster Gary teaches us the importance of worship and every service teaches the Bible. We recently moved to Atlanta and have yet to find a church with the same principles. I have become a stronger and more committed Christian because of Paster Gary and Cornerstone Church.
