Wow, I have been waiting months to write this review to see if they would rectify anything but can…read moreconfirm that I am super glad my child does not go to Trace. We considered it since it is super well priced and conveniently located. I didn't love how small it is and that there is no outdoor space. Kids love being outdoors! But it was worth considering. During the tour we were given a waitlist form and told it is $50 to hold the spot. Great! In mid-August I physically drove to the school to hand them the form and the check. I check my bank accounts at the beginning of each month, and thought it was odd it was not cashed at the beginning of September. I email the school to say that I noticed it has not been cash and am confirming receipt. NO RESPONSE I email again a week later. NO RESPONSE I start to think maybe something is wrong with their email. I have conversed via email before, which is how I scheduled the tour to begin with. I confirmed it is the same email address. I am also worried that maybe they lost my check and they are intentionally ignoring me until they find it. I don't know what is going on, but I go directly to their website and message them through their online portal. NO RESPONSE It is a huge red flag to me when I am actively attempting to give an organization money and they are not responsive. If they don't respond to me trying to give them money, how are they going to treat me once they have it? I do not know what their excuse is, but at this point, I don't care. Short staffed? Server down? Too busy? All not great things for a preschool. I decide to call Trace at the end of October. So they have had my check for over 2 months and completely ignored all attempts for me to contact them. Trace: I have you're check right here, I'll cash it today Me: oh...ok. I have tried emailing a couple times. Trace: Yes, I got your emails. Ok...no apology, no explanation. Just telling me they've had my check sitting there for over 2 months and have actively been avoiding my messages. Honestly if she had been remorseful, provided an explanation or even been remotely nice over the phone, I would have considered still sending my child, but this conversation was the nail in the coffin for me. We really did not like the way we were treated as potential parents and decided to go elsewhere out of principle. I would definitely not recommend them and I would never send my child there.

Classrooms are individual rooms (other preschools, they utilize a big space & divide the area by shelves that gets loud). Also, this is all year school. They're still open during breaks for "day care" (which I didn't see a difference between an actual school day vs daycare). Most of the staff here are nice & friendly, some don't attempt to say hi the very least. But here are my cons: 1. THERE IS ZERO COMMUNICATION with the staff. An app like most schools have to communicate would be nice. - At pick up, the teacher usually doesn't say anything about how the day went. She's been letting my child walk out by themselves. So I just had to go by on what my child tells me. - There is no true point of contact for concerns. If you have a concern, you will need to email the main office and depending on the seriousness Sharon (office staff) may forward it to Mr. Kyle, the "administrator" (owner son). If they do notify him, he will respond by typing a letter, VERY OLD SCHOOL! When it'd be more efficient if he just emailed back directly. So therefore, your concerns does not get addressed. 2. THE TEACHER WILL NOT INFORM YOU OF INCIDENTS that occurs during school. On a few occasions after picking up my child, my child have told me another child has done something to them. One incident, a kid had put dirt all over my child's hair & that child was NOT sent to timeout! INCIDENTS LIKE THESE THE SCHOOL SHOULD BE NOTIFYING BOTH PARENTS! Especially the kid who is doing these incidents so that the parents can talk to their child (again an app to communicate these things would be nice. Also, considering that the 3y/o teacher is VERY forgetful (i.e. she told me to have my child for the Christmas play at 7a, when it said on the paper 9a, also couldn't remember where the play was -_-")) 3. MS. WENDY MAKES UP HER OWN RULES! One occasion, I asked her if I could chaperon on a field, she told me "parents are not allowed." EVEN THO IT SAYS IN THEIR HANDBOOK (that the school strongly goes by), #21 "All parents or guardians who volunteer to chaperone on field trips must have a TB clearance." Doesn't even say that parents are not allowed... 4. THIS IS MORE OF A DAY CARE SETTING. The kids are playing majority of the time. Other than morning circle time, seems that the kids are only given one opportunity to learn. Although, they are given the option to choose to do a worksheet or do table play. They are kids, of course they are going to choose to play. What kind of teaching is that? And the worksheets are VERY basic. My child can do it in 3 seconds. 5. THE FOOD THEY SERVE IS NOT AGE APPROPRIATE. Tell me what 2-5 year old local kid eats "beef mexicana", curry stew, "garden salad", Spanish rice? Atleast, put chicken nuggets on your menu.. - I've been directly told by a professional that they have previously reviewed their menu & made suggestions. But the school told them "they will consider it". So I hope this review will push the school to actually make the appropriate changes. 6. There were a handful of times where the teacher had miss giving my child handouts if they're not there that day/go home early. Half of the time I was not given the lunch menu (then again the only thing on the menu that changes is the month and days). 7. Parents are paying all these comprehensive fees, just for the staff to reuse old cereal boxes & junk laying around for arts & craft. I support repurposing stuff, but atleast be creative! 8. You need to give the school a 30 day withdrawal notice. THIS JUST SHOWS YOU HOW BIG THEIR DROP OUT RATE MUST BE to have this in place, instead of just parting ways & trying to correct what they are doing wrong... 9. THIS SCHOOL IS RUN BY A VERY OLD JAPANESE FAMILY. - Their staffs clock in/out is still the old school system; where you time stamp a paper time card thru a machine. - Payments are only to be paid check or cash. - All their notices looks like they were made in the 90's. Seems they kept the same word file from back then, & only change the dates. - Their "handbook" still says "no Heelys", who wears that?! Clearly, they haven't updated their handbook in over 2 decade. No one is that desperate for childcare. This is a completely honest review -- this school felt chaotic, dismissive, and completely lacking in care. The environment did not feel nurturing -- it felt like everyone was just trying to get through the day with as little effort as possible. The head teacher often showed up to school looking like she had just rolled out of bed, wearing rubber slippers to work. When you drop your child off to her, she's sitting on a small chair eating her breakfast and doesn't even glance up from her phone while greeting you. The first major red flag was when a teacher told me there was a conflict involving my child and another student. She instructed that student to "push him back to teach him a lesson," in her words. I brought this up directly and respectfully, expecting correction or at the very least acknowledgment. Instead, the concern was dismissed and denied. Another ongoing concern was how the school handled communication about behavior. Anytime there was an incident, the responsibility was immediately placed on my child, without any explanation of what led up to the situation or what steps were taken to guide or support him. I repeatedly asked what strategies were being used to help him learn and adjust, and I never received a clear answer. Instead of collaboration or problem-solving, I was met with blame, vague statements, and no evidence of meaningful intervention. The final breaking point came after my child came home with visible facial injuries on two separate days -- first a bruise on his cheek, then scratches and a cut beneath his eye. Neither incident was reported to me. I only found out because my child told me what happened at home. When I asked the school why I had not been notified, I was met again with inconsistent explanations rather than concern or accountability. That's ultimately why I made the decision to withdraw my child. No parent should have to wonder whether their child is safe, supervised, or treated with basic care and respect during the school day. It was my child's first day back to school since last year, and after dropping her off to her class, I went into the office to make payment for the month. Although I was aware of the late fee for late payment and with the 10th being over the weekend, I asked the office staff (which then asked Mr. Kyle ARIZALA for permission to do so). Please keep in mind that my family's co-pay for tuition is $11.00 and this was my first time asking for leniency. Kyle was very stern on being unable to possibly waiving the $50 fee- making a strict example of how if I was an exception then he would have to make an exception for everyone else. I felt I was being treated very poorly by a member of administration- He didn't want to hear me out or perhaps even bothered to provide other options to this issue. Kyle insisted, I should have figured it out. I wrote an email addressing my concerns and in return was given a hand-delivered letter by my child's teacher the following day in response to my email. I've spoken and asked the teachers and aides about him, and I have not heard ONE positive attribute in regards to Kyle. So FYI, any issue presented to management is considered "confrontational" and deemed grounds for dismissal. What a joke! My daughter does tell me she misses Ms. Nelsy but now she is in the big girl class with Ms. Ancheta and I'm sure she's going to learn so much more! I think they're teaching them how to read which is amazing because she will be ahead when she enters Kindergarten the next school year. My other daughter had Ms. Charmaine (2 years old class) and I'm telling you that she's definitely a teacher you would want for your 2 year old because she has so much PATIENCE. My daughter was crying all day the first couple days. Sometimes she would even throw a tantrum to come home with me, it was so sad BUT I had to drop her off everyday so that she would get used to it and she did. Couple months in, she was just walking right into class like a big girl. Ms. Charmaine also helped me with potty training. My daughter was already trained with us at home but I was afraid she would have accidents at school so she would go in diapers but finally I asked Ms. Charmaine if she could help me and if it would be okay if my daughter wore underwears instead of diapers to school. She had a few accidents the first couple days and then after that, she was finally potty trained at school too. So thankful for Ms. Charmaine. My daughter's teacher now is Ms. Ashley (3 Year Olds Teacher) and she does mention that she will cry when Ms. Charmaine picks up the 2 year olds in the mornings and she's left behind but after that she's fine. She is having so much fun in Ms. Ashley's class and she actually says her name too "Mommy I go Ashley's class" it's so cute. I can't wait to see how much she will learn.

The school used to be fun and engaging. parents use too engage and talk to the school employees while taking their children to school, but now, four years after Covid, you are unable to get on school grounds to walk to take your child to class. The only time you meet your childs teacher is for five minutes before the start of the school year, they will only encourage you to use an app to communicate with the teacher, but then will encourage you to set up a meeting with the teacher if there is a concern you have.. there seems to be only 1 staff member that handles any events or coordinations for anything, which is not enough to handle a whole entire school. It's very sad the lack of effort with the office staff members within that school, the website and Facebook page shows it compared to the other schools in the same district also other schools that are in the area has allowed parents to communicate with the staff members and teachers on the regular basis and opened up the school. Now, I understand the safety of the children's well-being, not allowing people within the schools however, if they had volunteers like they used to or staff members that actually patrolled the halls there wouldn't be an issue for safety: there is nothing fun about this school anymore, which is extremely sad. We have chosen to pull our child out of the school. The school is very far behind in regards to technology. No communication is ran on a text system; if an issue happened at school you might receive a email a day or two later. If the school is closed for a water main break you won't know until you arrive at the school. Other nearby schools has a system wide text system. But Iroquois is very old school and sees no issues within their grounds or the way they handle things, but the teacher turnover rate is also very high at this school because of this very reason.

Another time I had a cinnamon roll that was dry as a desert....again, horrible. I know school isn't really about what is served for breakfast, but there is room for improvement. There are probably many items served that are great for the kids I'm not aware of. I haven't eaten their lunch, so I cannot comment. The classrooms are roomy with a private bathroom in "some" of the classes, not all. I think there is one made available for the lower grades. I haven't had any real problems with the teachers so far. In fact, my child has had really good teachers...we'll keep our fingers crossed! I would like to see more physical fitness or organized activities at recess. Kids are stuck with tons of homework every day, so they are limited on time they spend doing things to keep them healthy and fit. There are a lot of fund raisers, which I would highly support if I knew where the money was being spent. Sure, a letter comes out from the Principle saying the many areas money "can" be spent with the funds raised, but each fundraiser should be very specific on what it is focused on....a field trip, continuing education for teaches, a scholarship for a Campbell High School Student(which I don't agree with), or maybe school supplies. I know the school raises thousands of dollars on fundraising, and I don't like the idea that all of that money simply goes into a "pot" to use at their discretion. Transparency is a good thing!!! The appearance of the school needs some improvement. Get a new fence on the front of the school and clear out all of those weeds and stuff. The fence looks dilapidated and old. Get a new school sign...that one looks like it was from 1950 or something. The grassy area under all the trees (toward Ft. Weaver Road) could be made into parking lot, because Parents DO NOT have many options for parking at the school. Why don't we do a fundraiser for that project??? I'm sure it would garner much support!! None of these comments are meant to sound rude or disrespectful; they are simply suggestions I hope get heard. I really like the school's new website. It's full of useful information and has a cool look!!! Great job!!! My child seems happy attending this school, so that is important. It's not like parents get a real choice of where their child gets to place thir child anyway right? It's based on zoning or where you live.
