I was so nervous, out of shape, and positively convinced that I was going to make a fool out of myself that I almost turned around in the parking lot. But upon entering the classroom, it was immediately apparent that the EY methodology is based in safety, strength, and education. They've managed to find the perfect balance between body and mind that seems to be lacking in other yoga studios. Meaning: EY is not a fitness boot camp nor is there an overemphasis/push to subscribe to a common spirituality. You are given the freedom to pick and choose what you're comfortable with, which allows you to make your yoga practice about *you*. It's truly a beautiful thing. Just bring yourself and an open mind: the instructors will do the rest, guiding everyone gracefully from pose to pose, offering individual help and modifications as needed. Everyone at EY, including the members themselves, have been consistently kind, respectful, and welcoming. **I'd also like to point out that the Brand New Beginner's (BNB) course is PERFECT for people (like me) that find confidence in knowledge and appreciate the extra assurance. Ask questions, take things slow, and learn the "how & why" of yoga in a safe, positive environment. It was one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. The best part? My five year old said he had a good time and so, while I didn't love the place, thought it was perfectly fine for his age group. This is not an appropriate place for a young child who is not yet potty trained. Drop off was confusing and very informal which I think would be fine for a one hour class or for someone who had been here before but, as it was our first time and we signed up for a full day camp, we had no idea where to leave our children's belongings, no way to tell them information about our children, no paperwork to fill out, no emergency contact info, nothing. Just dropped their bags and brought our kids in a big room with one college kid and one adult (who left before we did and apparently didn't return for the remainder of the day). Im usually pretty laid back, and this place had good reviews, so I just went with the flow. I assumed they had their act together and that the adult was returning and that was my mistake. I signed my boys up for football camp. I don't think they played football but they had fun so that was fine. My issue came at pick-up when one of the employees was taking my 2-year old to the potty (where there was no diaper changing table). I could smell my child's diaper from far away and it was clear he was asking to be changed. I took over and, when I finally found a room with a changing table all the way upstairs which looked like it had never been used (no wipes or anything nearby) and changed my sons diaper it was clear he hadn't been changed all day. He was bright red and had terrible diaper rash. When I mentioned the issue to the woman at the front desk she gave me an attitude. She said it was my responsibility to inform her at drop off (how exactly?) that my child was not potty trained. They took no responsibility for their failure to either remind a 2 year old to go potty all day, to acknowledge the very obvious smell, or to open his backpack (with the lunch he ate) in which I sent lots of diapers. No apologies no nothing. This occurred over Thanksgiving 2018 and, while things have changed since then, I will never be back. All these things aside, this place is more expensive than hiring a highly qualified babysitter all day at $20 an hour. Next time I will go with the babysitter who will remember to check a 2year olds diaper.

But as she got older and took dance more seriously joining competition and company level, the environment at the studio completely destroyed her passion. From my experience, the regular classes are great- inclusive friends, nice parents but the company level and competition level is different. The teachers have obvious favorites and consistently put those dancers first -- especially the competition director, Taylor Martin. My daughter also had a ballet teacher at the company level who even critiqued her body, which was extremely discouraging. The only teacher who ever made her feel supported and valued was Mr. Matt. There have also been multiple parent complaints made to the owner, Sara, about favoritism and the toxic atmosphere. Despite that, nothing seemed to change. Sara also awhile back was telling parents to leave good reviews (everyone eft them on google reviews)... now that we left I gave my honest review. Socially, the studio is just as difficult. The girls have strong cliques and don't include others unless they meet their "standards." The parents have their own cliques as well. Once my daughter hit middle school, all of this became very obvious. No one cheered for her at competitions, and girls who weren't in the "right" friend group were ignored. She ended up alone in classes and alone at competitions, which was heartbreaking to watch. She loved dance so much that she used to count down the days to class -- but eventually she started coming up with excuses to skip because the environment made her feel so unwelcome. From what I've seen, younger competitive dancers don't deal with this as much, though their parents still form groups. But if your child is in middle school or older, I do not recommend joining the competition team at DAC. Many girls have switched studios because of the toxic atmosphere, and based on our experience, I completely understand why. I would say DAC is the right place if your daughter is younger and doesn't want to join competition or the company level. The normal level classes are great... everyone is inclusive and has good teachers just not competition or company.

If it wasnt for some of the guys who came in early I wouldnt of learned anything new or got any ring time. Stopped going 4 months ago, stopped payments 2 months ago. Never heard from him til the money stopped commin in. Its really a shame because he is a good instructor but me personally, I cant deal with the drama & mood swings. Funny the new place im going has a handful of old members that all say the same things.
