My husband and I cleared out the unit just before the new year to make our move across the country. Literally 1200 miles away. It was stressful and long as we had our pets with us. It was also the new year once we arrived to our destination. If you can imagine, we weren't totally settled when we arrived. We called back to cancel our unit from being charged some time after the new year and left a message. Carla called back and said our unit won't be charged and we apologized for the delay in getting back to her. I'm not sure how but a message was left after where she had a few choice expletives and f bombs she had to say about us. Really disheartening considering we always tried to be as respectful as possible when dealing with the company. Overall the experience was great. But it really stunk to deal with that.

In the middle of that heartbreak, I thought I had submitted my 30-day notice to vacate my storage unit. I hadn't. I was grieving. I still vacated the unit exactly as planned--on time. And when I saw the extra charge being billed, I reached out about 10 days before the end of the month, explained what had happened, and asked for a little compassion. What did Cornerstone Storage do? They said, "The system won't let me." Then they added late fees. To a grieving customer. Who had already vacated. Who explained everything honestly. Who was literally holding her dying cat when the notice didn't get sent. Let that sink in. They had a chance to show humanity. They chose greed. They had every opportunity to act like people. Instead, they chose profit over basic decency. They knew I was in crisis. They saw that as an opening to pull more money out of me. And now they're punishing me for not paying a charge I never should have received in the first place. If this is how they treat someone in the middle of an emotional breakdown from the loss of their loved one, imagine how little they'll care about your situation. Your late fee. Your billing issue. Your loss. This is not customer service. This is predatory and disgusting. I wouldn't trust this company with a cardboard box--let alone anything that matters to you. Took advantage of the free truck rental with opening a new storage account. That was about the only…read moregood thing. The truck itself was disgusting. It was filthy and oh my god, it smelt so so bad. The lingering body odor was almost unbearable. Fast forward to returning the truck, I get a call from the business the next day and speak with Amy on the phone. The only reason Amy called me was to scolded me like a child because I didn't park the truck in the right place and then starts accusing me that I left their truck door open all night. ( keep in mind that it's unlocked 24/7) asked if she had evidence of what she was accusing me of and then she says that " the cameras can't see out there" I ended the conversation at this point. Thank God I don't rent from this location, because I would never want to do business with them again after that. It was insanely unpleasant and unprofessional.
