The garden centre is now ENORMOUS! You get to it by walking down a mall with various other shops there - Cotswold, Hobbycraft, Lakeland etc. When you're in the garden centre you immediately see a nice cafe on your left and a smaller coffee bar as well. Straight ahead of you is the outdoor area where there is a huge selection of plants, sculptures and furniture. There's even a section dedicated to paving as well. Back inside you'll find an upmarket food hall and a nice selection of furniture/homewares. There is also an area for bulbs and garden tools inside. The best thing about this time of year is that there is a great christmas shop as well!

There are lots of lovely crafts for sale plus a selection of African music CDs, clothes and the ubiquitous fair trade food.

It specialises in African art and crafts, ranging from the traditional to the contemporary, so suiting a big range of tastes. My mum usually hates this sort of thing, but she liked the ceramic beads and jewellery, whereas I'm more attracted by the paintings. The pictures and photographs are definitely the main feature. Most of them cost well over £100, but are original and the African ones are full of vibrant colour, whilst it's refreshing to see local art that has moved beyond rehashed watercolours of Oxford colleges. There are masks, carvings, baskets, games and all manner of unusual things to get guests talking the next time they're in your house. Personally I've got my eye on the emu egg, although I have no idea what I'd do with it!

The cases are themed by colour, which makes it easy to find something to go with a particular item of clothing. The variety is huge, with delicate silver, gemstones, interesting glass designs, plastics, metals, shells, and a range of prices. Assistants are generally helpful, and purchases are packaged nicely. One of my favourite places to browse in the Covered Market and Oxford itself.

I love this shop. It used to be a real rabbit warren of a place, a bit like an old fashioned…read moredepartment store. (Think 'Are you being served') It was gutted a few years back and although the building looks the same on the outside inside it's a totally different place. There are three floors (as per usual) which are jam packed full of things to peruse and buy! The womenswear floor is large with a wide range of items for women of any taste. They have a Coast branch inside and a big collection of fancy dresses to suit. The homeware floor is big as well with quite a decent range of kitchen utensils which is nice because a lot of stores skimp on things like this. All in all the store is nice and bright, it can get a bit congested on the escalators and in the lobby though so be careful.
