Rather it's the stunning building and interior spaces where you can read a newspaper or do work. For kids, the children's room is also quite special with a mini fort and plenty of toys and stuffed animals. Erin is warm, welcoming and wonderful with children, and the storytime is something my daughter and I look forward to every week. We sing songs, read a couple stories, and then do coloring or other crafts. I haven't really explored the rest of the library, but absolutely recommend the children's library and programming.

There were hundreds of books to browse through and I ended up getting two giant zoology books for only $3 total. Transaction was quick and they had plenty of change in case you had bigger bills (unsure if they do credit card). They had everything from art and how-to draw books all the way to giant books for school (math, biology, etc). I was pleasantly surprised by the selections.

We were quite disappointed, but from what we could see, literally thousands of books in both stalls outside, and on shelfs hidden inside the building. The woman in charge (apparently) apologized to us, and WF introduced herself, since she's on the board of the library association in our town. That didn't get us a peek at the stacks, but a new friend was made. They are open through October, so there's another trip planned in the near future. We need to remember to park close enough (and bring lots of bags) so we don't have to carry our purchases very far.

Anything it doesn't have for it's lack of space can usually be found on the Connecticut Inter-Library loan system. The librarians (or the formal book depositorians) are all very friendly, willing to help, and organize some fun activities. Right now there's a month long contest to "blind date" a book (select a wrapped book only by a brief description and complete a review to enter), and there's an almost year long contest to read thirty books from forty different categories. Categories include your parent's favorite book, a thriller, and that book you were actually supposed to read in school. Goshen residents should follow the library on Facebook - events are frequent and varied. It was a lot of fun to meet Laura Bradford, author of Amish cozy mysteries, at the end of last year!

In the ensuing melee, the sacred charter was spirited out the window and hidden in a Hartford oak tree. Then the teacher glosses over the fact this was symbolic at best, and Connecticut was as much a part of the American revolution as the other colonies, and yadda yadda yadda the oak tree went on to sire heirs. This tree is one of them. On the Cornwall green, across from town hall, is an unassuming tree and a plaque. May it have many happy additional years overseeing the modest amount of traffic in the area.
