Mr. Ketts and Ms. Rowe are both part of a welcoming committee at this beautiful church-and their kind, hospitable, and genuine/earnest desire to welcome others to their church shined through. Reverend Schutz and Yvonne both met with us in person to provide certain accommodations for our autistic child-since crowds, loud noises, and other sensory-related triggers can overwhelm our little one who is on the spectrum. Our family is earnestly seeking a home church-a place to worship the Lord in Spirit and truth-and a place to connect with other believers in the house of God. It has been a journey since many churches with a robust children's ministry tend to focus on neurotypical children-and wasn't quite the right fit for our little one. We have yet to decide where we will anchor ourselves spiritually-which church we will attend regularly. However, Rev. Regan and Ms. Rowe kindly met with us and provided all types of flexible accommodations so that our little one on the spectrum could disengage and reconnect if and when the sensory triggers get to be too much. All 3 people that I have mentioned expressed their enthusiasm and made it clear that we are welcome at this community. Moreover, Mr. Ketts shared some stories of his and Ms. Rowe's family's commitment and sacrifice in military service-something I deeply respect and admire. Rev. Regan has been responsive, compassionate, and radiates the love of Christ to those around her. My husband graduated from an Episcopal seminary. I am a non-denominational Christian who doesn't identify strongly with a particular denomination or way of worship. What I will say though is that I appreciate this church's efforts to embrace us and include each person's portion-from the youngest to those young at heart-with compassion, authenticity, and love. Beyond the absolute physical beauty of this church and the serene church grounds-they also have a lovely Wednesday night prayer, an art class for children, a godly play class for kids, and they seem to actively try to to be a healing sanctuary and presence in the larger Coronado/local community. I just wanted to express my appreciation and share our experience of this church and its wonderful staff. Organized religion often gets a bad rap (perhaps, sometimes at its worse-deservedly so)-but there is something about the assembling of the body of Christ-a corporate expression of His love and the richer/deeper meanings of the gospel-that are most fully expressed in His body. May we all live out the love of Christ so authentically, humbly, and from a spirit of humility, love, and grace.

Although I had to wake up very early in the morning to get to the mass on time (7:30 AM Sunday mass), it was worth going to and starting the day with church and spending time there. The drive to Coronado was not not bad coming from San Diego, and there was plenty of parking in the residential streets nearby and even across the park (although be aware of the signs that says no parking). The new pastor of the church was there presiding mass and had a really great homily that connected to the people. Everyone was very welcoming. I also loved seeing the stations of the cross pictures all together one on each side of the walls, and the music was beautifully sung. Overall, Sacred Heart is definitely a place to visit for mass.

She organized women's retreats and church picnics in the park. Every table was decorated beautifully by the host. Women donned their sparkly attire and we served by the men of the church. We were treated to a variety of teas, sweet and savory delights. The evening concluded with a heart warming sermon. It was lovely to meet all the kind women.

There are also plenty of opportunities to serve within the congregation and throughout the community, both in Coronado and over-the-bridge, and in missions globally. Additional teaching offerings allow church attendees to deepen their faith across different dives into different relevant subject matter over many gathering offerings to partake as desired. Their services are held on Sunday afternoons, from 4 -6:30 p.m. Primarily, a Filipino congregation, this church is Pentecostal and seeks foremost to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. According to their Facebook page. Victory Lighthouse is "The church that continues the Acts 2:38 doctrine. "The Voice of Triumph. " That Biblical passage states: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Therefore, Victory Lighthouse is big on baptisms and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Why I like them and gave them 4 YELP STARS is that they have a great outreach program. I met one of their parishioners as he was doing homeless ministry and passing out free food to the needy in the Midway District, This is a very good place to help out the less fortunate as there are many downtrodden here in the area. Though I am an evangelical myself, I have every bit of full respect for the Pentecostal brothers and sisters. As a young Catholic especially, I do not understand the Pentecostal rejection of the Trinity--the idea that there are three distinct persons within one God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also, the speaking in tongues is another thing I don't get. But the Bible does say in Matthew 7:16, "By their fruits you will recognize them." This small Church, founded in 1999, is doing good work in the community and are respected brethren out there helping the less fortunate.

This is a review for the Coronado Southern Baptist daycare/preschool part of the church. We…read moreenrolled our 3 year old son here after checking out several other preschools in Coronado and San Diego. We cannot say enough great things about this place. First, it is structured but unstructured so this really allows kids to grow to become school ready at their own pace. It is not this way at other schools. Also, we really like the fact that they provide snacks and lunch so the kids all are eating the same foods. We know our son, and if kids had items that our son wanted and didn't have them in his lunchbox, it might he a situation, so this works for us better. The teachers and Pastor John are all really kind, caring and wonderful and provide great supervision of the children. We also love the fact that there's always parking to load and unload in front. And we really love the safe playground. There's also a lot of flexibility in the number of days per week and the amount of hours per day, so this has been really wonderful for us as well. Our son is so happy every time he gets to get dropped off and loves being there - we talk about his day every day and things he did at school, so that is very cool! They are also starting a kids ballet and dance class during the school hours, so that is fun as well.

This church is unlike any of the ones I grew up going to. Granted, I haven't been to church since…read more2007 and a lot has changed since then. I started going because my friend loves it and her brother is part of the band. I remember when we were younger, seeing her brother play guitar and sing. It's very cool to see him perform on a church stage now. Personal ties aside, let's talk aesthetics. I know that's not the most important thing, but it's part of what drew me in after the kind of churches I remember as a kid. My first impression was the coffee bar. It's a really nice touch. The second thing that hit me was the size. The building is in an industrial area and has a sort of brewery feel to it, and I love that. It's bright and airy and very open. The third thing I loved was the bathrooms. In my youth, it was a three stall bathroom with very limited space and air. These bathrooms are massive- tons of stalls, sinks, mirrors. They smell clean and you can still hear the sermon and music through the extra speakers in there so you don't miss anything. The decor. Simple and minimalist but a nice, classy touch. Oh and plenty of parking (always a plus) and easy to get to. On to more important things. I've now participated in an online/Zoom group (my first Restoration event where I got to virtually meet a few members.) I did a wine/succulent ladies night on a Friday evening. I attended a midweek "relationship round table" event (where refreshments were provided even though it was a free event!) I've watched a few sermons online. And finally on Easter, I attended my first in-person service. (I call them sermons but they have a better term for it that doesn't sound as stuffy. Can't recall what it is.) What's great is that I got to attend all these other no-pressure events and get to meet people, feel the vibe, and check out the space before I ever attended a Sunday service. I immediately felt drawn to Restoration and comfortable. I even got my boyfriend to go with me on Easter. We've been dating since 2016 and have never gone to a church service together until last week. The fact that he was willing to come along and enjoyed himself spoke volumes. Pastors Kate and Kurt remembered me despite having only briefly met me at one or two of the events I attended. They are very engaging and talk about things in a way that gets me to see things in a new light. It's not nearly as restrictive and boring as I recall church being as a kid. (I attended Catholic Churches where my one grandma gave me candy to keep me awake. Armenian churches with my other grandma where I'd hide in the bathroom because I didn't have any friends and didn't know the language. Lutheran churches that I found dull and repetitive. And some other one where people spoke in tongues. I've been around lol) I was baptized catholic, confirmed Lutheran, and have never really found a church I fell in love with until now. My friend said she sometimes isn't able to get down there because, life. I was going to only go when she goes but I find myself feeling inspired to go in person on my own. I don't have kids but find it pretty nice that they have ALL sorts of kid groups and activities to keep kids engaged while the service is going on. (Really wish I had that kind of experience growing up, to engage me in Gods word, rather than being bated with candy and doughnuts.) I'm not big into music at churches but I found myself enjoying most of what I heard. There's no pressure to sing along (thank God) so I don't feel awkward standing there, just enjoying the music- not singing, not swaying. I literally just stand there. But because of the concert feel it has with the dimmed lights, I don't have to worry about sticking out like a sore thumb. I didn't have to raise my hand to let everyone know I'm new. They have options for people who ARE new to connect in a relaxed environment. Communion is also done in that manner, so I don't feel any pressure to partake if I'm not ready (they have a separate area to go up and take communion if/when you're ready during any point in the service.) And offering isn't a plate passed around while people stare at you, waiting to drop money in (that's how it was when I was young.) They have multiple options to give back and none of them put you on the spot. There's seriously so many things I've loved already and that's after only a few in person events and ONE service. I know it won't be for everyone and many people still love a lot of traditional aspects of other churches. But Restoration got me (and my bf!) to come in after not having gone to a church since 2007. I'd say that's pretty spectacular.
