First time customer. The owner was extraordinarily rude, and I could not, for the life of me, understand why. I asked if they could shorted pants. He sighed, as if that was some type of over-the-top request. When I went to pick up my clothes, he chastised me for not having the ticket he gave me, and then basically started screaming at me, and told me to never come back. A very, very strange experience. I needed the zipper lining to be replaced because my zipper came off and i took it to this cleaners and the owner was very rude and nasty because he misplaced my zipper gave me a whole different color zipper with a different zipper lining that didn't match my coat and i asked him for my zipper back and he lied and said i never gave him the zipper i specify told him to put my zipper back on my coat instead of him beating honest saying he lost it he lied and said i never handed it to him then he began to be very rude and started raising his voice at me read more

My dress was supposed to be ready last Thursday. I came on Monday and they couldn't find it. I came again on Tuesday to pick it up, and when I went to put it in my car today to leave for a wedding it had clearly not been cleaned at all. The bottom has the exact wrinkles as when I dropped it off and the stains weren't assessed at all either. The owner denied it when I called and asked that I come back (which would be for a third time) and I can't because I have to leave for a wedding without a clean dress! After having this place ruin some ties years ago I returned to have them fix the zipper of a weekend bag because they were the only place who said they could do it and it was about $15 - pretty reasonable. Upon picking it up I saw they had simply replaced the metal yellow pull zip, not the plastic teeth, but thought nothing of it. It worked once, then promptly was back in its original broken state. When I returned the owner said that to fix it properly would have been $30. I said I'd pay the difference but he said too late. I'm done with this place and I can see why it has such low stars on Google and other places. Save yourself money, poor workmanship, and bad customer service and go down the block to Ellie's instead. Been going to this dry cleaner since I moved by to the neighborhood and it starting turning yuppish. Prices were pretty decent at the time and they were always on time and did great job. Prices went just like everything in Ditmas park so can't fault them on that. Rather than have certainty then deal with cheaper options with uncertainty. read more

I wish I would have read yelp before I had a pair of black suede gloves dry cleaned. When I picked them up everything looked fine. Got home, took them out of plastic wrap, realized I had two different gloves. Thinking it was just a mistake, went back and tried to talk to "Mr. Kim"- this man just started screaming at me, calling me a liar and just acting crazy. He didn't want to speak to me just kept calling me a liar and telling me to get out. NEVER USE THIS DRY CLEANING! If anyone knows where they send suede to be cleaned, would like to know. Gotta give Mr.Kim 4 stars for cleaning my WEDDING dress! After calling numerous locations and researching different cleaners, I decided to go with the 'around the way' cleaners. The price was muchhhhhhhh cheaper than what I was getting quoted for( $350-$895), and the cleaning is done on premises as per Mr.Kim, which is what I wanted. I use to bring my clothes here in the past, but then I switched to another nearby cleaners b/c they were a tad cheaper. Anyway, after speaking with Mr.Kim about my dress, he said he could clean in and preserve it. He also stated, it will take him 1 week. I asked that before he placed my precious baby in a box, I'd like to inspect it to ensure it is cleaned properly. So I dropped it off on a Saturday, and returned the following Saturday to pick up my baby. She wasn't there :-/. Mr.Kim said she's at his other cleaners in Bay Ridge. I didn't particularly like that as I specifically asked if the cleaning is done on premises, but Mr. Kim ensured me that everything is good and the dress will be here Monday. OK! Monday I returned to pick up my baby, and there she was was. Clean as a whistle! My dress isn't silk or a simple dress per say...it had tulle and couple layers on the hem, which is where I needed Mr.Kim to focus on the most. I inspected my dress and it was to my satisfaction. I then asked Mr. Kim to box it up, but they he said he had to order it and I must return in 3 days. I was a tad bit frustrated b/c my mind was set on carrying her home with me (I was a little paro about the dress). OK! I returned 3 days later and there she was looking all pretty in a box. I asked if he used an anti-yellow solvent that most of these other Bridal cleaners mentioned, but Mr. kim didn't use or perhaps don't know, he basically said you have to clean. (I told him next year, I will put it on and take some pics for my anniversary lol...so it should be good as gold when that time arrives). Overall, I am satisfied with this cleaners. I am back as a regular customer b/c I had to put the other cleaners on a time out. I trusted him with my wedding dress and he did a great job! I am in shock of how rude this store owner is. Today I picked up my husband's dry cleaning. He dropped it off last week here because normally we use Ellie's, where you pay on the day you drop off--and with all dry cleaning places, this is what I'm used to. The man retrieved the two shirts. I took them and turned to leave. He began to, I am not being dramatic, SCREAM at me for not paying. I said, I'm so sorry, I didn't realize he didn't pay. As I am getting out my wallet--clearly trying to show him that I meant to pay--he continued to scream at me! I started to yell back that I was a new customer, paying on pick up day wasn't what I was used to, and I wasn't trying to not pay. This man called me a "motherfucker" and we continued to scream at each other while he literally was swiping my credit card! I'm not someone who believes the customer is always right--clearly I was in error trying to walk out--but I've never been screamed at in my life like that before, ever!!! 1 star is too much, I was treated like a DOG when I mentioned to the person encharged that the zipper was old and rusty. He call me a liar and to get out of is store. I never felt so humiliated. I just moved to the area and decided to try out the multiple cleaners here to find a good one. My bf had gotten some food on his button down shirt, so I decided to get it professionally cleaned. I dropped the shirt off, told them about the stain and ring around the collar, came back two days later to pick it up. When I came to pick it up, not only was the same stain still there, but so was the ring around the collar. It didn't look like they did anything at all,it looked exactly how I dropped it off. When I asked what happened to the stain etc, the owner had the audacity to have an attitude and told me "I have to go, I have other business. $5!!! If I wasn't new to the neighborhood and didn't care about starting issues, I would've walked out, not paying for a service they didn't provide (cleaning). I have never seen a place not care as much as they did and still jump up and down over payment. Never again would I ever go there. I should've just laundered the shirt at home. Every time I come here there's an issue. First of all, I've never experienced dry cleaning that takes this long. Then when I do finally come back (a week later) the woman who runs the counter tells me that my order is too big and its downstairs so she can't leave the front to go get it. Umm... So what do you want me to do? You work here! I've brought clothes with stains on it and the stains haven't been removed. I've brought a skirt to have a lining added and they kept it for 2 months saying they would do it to ultimately give it back and say there's nothing they can do. It's like they're not even trying! I've even walked in at 7:05 to pick up while they owner was leaving and he say "no I'm leaving" and usher me out. I didn't experience the rudeness other reviewers complained of, but this place ruined a quilt that was handmade for my son. Colors in one area bled onto white areas which weren't even adjacent--I honestly don't even know how this is possible unless it was thrown in the wash or folded while wet. Two stars because I had been happy with this place up until this point, and maybe it was just an unfortunate side effect of the drycleaning process, but I'm pretty heartbroken and won't be going back. read more

Today I had a horrible customer experience at this dry cleaners!! I have been patronizing this location last 2 years. The owner was very rude when I showed him the damage done to a recently cleaned shirt. The collar button was ripped out leaving a hole in the shirt. This is the third shirt damaged in this way, and I was previously told by the owner's assistant that it is due to new workers not handling the clothing properly. I mended the previous 2 shirts on my own. Today, upon showing the THIRD damaged shirt to the owner, Mr. Kim, I was shouted at and accused of lying about how the damage was done. He accused me damaging my own shirt!! Accordingly to Mr Kim, his business does not damage customers' clothing, and he is not responsible for such damage per the sign on the wall. Also, he told me that I was not the only one that has reported this problem (not true as I discovered upon reading the business reviews). I was speechless at being shouted at, accused of lying, and of being disingenuous. I was blown away at the extreme disrespectful behavior shown by the owner, Mr Kim. I asked him if this is the manner that he treats his customers because I could not believe he would yell and tell his customers they were liars. I paid him for the clothing that I came to pick up , took back the clothing that I had just dropped off for cleaning and told him that I will never use his business again. Do not use this dry cleaners. This type of customer service is unacceptable for a neighborhood that prides itself in supporting local businesses and supporting our community in general. This owner does not represent the citizens of Ditmas Park and we should NOT tolerate this from someone who is benefitting financially off our community. By the way, my wife stopped taking her clothing here after discovering several pieces on different occasions were just pressed, not cleaned. Her clothing still had stains and underarm odor that should not be present on any properly dry cleaned clothing. I'll never bring anything to this place again after the most unwarranted rude service I've ever received. A short summary of my one and only visit when I went to pick up my white dress shirt, dress skirt and dress pants and the Asian man was ringing me up: - I was paying and I noticed a brown spot on my white dress shirt through the plastic. I wasn't sure if it was a reflection or not, but I kindly asked "Is that a brown spot on the shirt - I can't really see" to which the Asian man said "We didn't do it!" I said, I didn't say you did it, but I can't really see and I know it wasn't there before. He repeats "We didn't make spot!". I tried to let it go and just drop it and continued paying. - The black dress skirt had a water mark (which prompted me to bring it to this place to get cleaned in the first place) - I didn't see it until I got home, but I unwrapped the plastic and saw that it was still there. I brought it back and addressed the issue to the Asian man and he said, "It doesn't come out and you knew it!" This time I had enough. I said, "You couldn't have said anything to me before I left so that I wasn't surprised when I got home?" He said, "I tried 2 times to clean and it didn't come out and you knew it wasn't coming out!" I said, "How am I supposed to know it wasn't coming out? Why do you think I brought it here?" He said, "Take it somewhere else"....After much back and forth about letting him know the least he could have done was to tell me he tried and it wouldn't come out, he said "Fine, I tell you next time". I can't believe how rude and aggressive this man could be. I should've read the reviews because he lived up to them to the letter. I've been bringing dress shirts to him for a while for a dry cleaning and ironing. lately I started noticing yellow stains under the armpits l. when I finally came to see him and ask him about it he said "well we can't clean yellow stains", I said no you don't understand these things were not there before but they were there after the cleaning, at which point he started yelling at me and refusing to take any responsibility or even maybe consider the possibility that there may have been a reaction between the dry cleaning compounds and the sweat. bottom line I asked for the shirts back and I told him that we should probably not be doing business together. he kept on yelling after I left. I typically get my shirts done here and I think because I am a regular, he adds a bit of starch, which is nice since it keeps the shirt looking sharp throughout the day. Any small stains end up coming off even though I don't ask for any extra stain removal. I did get my suit done here a few times and it came out well pressed and clean. I was very disappointed in the services rendered by Mr. Kim (Owner/Manager) at Cortelyou Cleaners on November 16, 2019. The only reason why I used his establishment was because, I needed to do food shopping. The dress I wanted to cleaned was for an engagement on Sunday. Follow me, the dress was taken on Thursday, to be picked up on Saturday. I pre-paid and told Mr. Kim the urgency of the matter. Needless to say my dress was not ready, (not on the premises) Mr. Kim was absent and could not be reached. I was asked by a receptionist if I could wait while she tried to contact him. While at the coffee shop, the receptionist informed me that my dress would not be ready for another 3 hrs. I had to find something else to wear. Today, (November 23)' I finally went to "Cortelyou Cleaners", to pick up my dress. I asked if I could be compensated for my inconvenience. Mr Kim only apologized and proceeded to inform me of what he had to do, and what the cleaning entailed, (isn't that what I paid for?). I was very very disappointed and very, very dissatisfied. Absolutely the worst dry cleaners I've ever been too mr.kim aka The Worst, first off he loses my pants (600$ pants) and tries to pretend I never gave them to him he then confirms with his other employee that i indeed gave them to him after I myself had to convince him I gave him my pants and yes it did say it on the receipt even though he vividly remembers me giving them to him and charged me 50$ for that and a couple t shirts he charged me extra for what he had listed a few days before which was for 2 hoodies regular average hoodies I don't why....I went to him many times before but every time I went I spent at least 45-60$....anyways back to my recent encounter I get my pants and the strings are absolutely damaged the strings were special and unique to the pants and had gold tips not real gold and extras he then says I gave them to him like that even though I have proof they weren't like that before and then he gets extremely angry I just wanted to explain to him he can't go around ruining people items and no I did not ask him for any type of refund or rewash and my other pants which I gave him a few days ago were shrunk by one inch the only reason I gave him my clothes were because they all say dry clean only anyways I have proof of all his wrong doing and get a load of this...before I received my items a gentleman walks in (I'm waiting for him to find my pants) and complains of his jacket being damaged and feeling different like he ruined it so I knew from there I'm not the only one, he also tells that guy that he gave it to him like that (yeah what a coincidence, everyone gives you damaged clothes first) also how is it possible to shrink pants if you dry clean them I thought dry cleaning was so clothes don't shrink. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. I was completely disrespected while trying to pick up clothing for my Father's funeral and after being a customer for over ten years! The owner, treated me this way and refused to apologize for it. There is no excuse. He should never yell at and disrespect anyone the way he treated me on a regular day. Imagine how you would feel if you were preparing for your Dad's funeral and were treated this way. I am furious!!! Read on to find out what happened. I went in to pick up three articles of clothing for my Father's funeral that my Husband already paid for. He gave me my Father's pants right away but looked around the store twice and told me he could not find the last two articles of clothing. I replied I hope that isn't the case because it is for my Father's funeral. After he searched a few more times he told me it is possible they are not ready yet (even though they were supposed to be ready the day before). Long story short, I asked can he confirm they are in fact not ready and not lost. Because I said the word LOST he LOST his mind. He yelled at me about using that word (lost). At first I was in shock. I told him to lower his voice, do not talk to me like that and apologize. I reminded him that I had been his customer for ten years. He did not care. He refused to apologize for the way he spoke to me. He is completely unprofessional. Please do not give this place your business. read more

The previous reviews are spot on. Prior to my experience last month, I had planned on finding another cleaner. Over the course of the last year, I had to return several items for recleaning. Last month, I dropped off a simple striped summer dress that had a few wine stains on the bottom of the dress. The Spanish woman that works the counter in the AM told me that it would not likely come out. I asked that they do what whatever they could. I pick up the dress and made the mistake of not inspecting it thoroughly until a week later. About to put it on I noticed some odd dark marks on the upper back - certainly not wine stains. But some where dye or something. I told the Asian guy that my dress was stained and he said to bring the dress in and he'd fix it. A couple days later I brought the dress in and handed it to him, he looked at it and denied ever cleaning the dress. Completely flips the script. Accuses me of lying, trying to get something for nothing and to add insult to injury calls my dress cheap and said he would never have cleaned a dress of "that kinda quality"(its a simple Banana republic summer work dress). I was livid! Another customer came into the store and he proceeded to help the other guy instead. I walk out to avoid a scene but returned shortly after when there weren't customers in the store. I calmly told him that he was incredibly disrepectfu. That for a year he took my money and was polite but his behavior that day was unexpected and disappointing. He lost me as a customer. He was calmer and tried to backtrack. He asked that I return the following Monday when the woman would be there and IF she remembered my dress theyd fix it. Out of principle I returned, she apologized for his behavior and said he is easily stressed. I said there is no excuse for his behavior.
