Stay far away!! I have been going here since 2019 and in the past year it has completely gone downhill. My clothes aren't totally clean, there's been snags and tears they've insisted have been there before etc. I gave the benefit of the doubt because they used to be so great but no more after my latest experience. They ruined one of my suit jackets with ink, claimed they would compensate at a later date but couldn't compensate at pick up and insisted that I pay $74 for the rest of my cleaning fees. I left without paying -- God knows if I will ever see a dime for my jacket and now I'm down a jacket I had just bought less than a year ago for several work dresses that I was really excited to find and took a while to get. read more

I really want to like this place as they are close and seem to be well-liked, however, I had a bad experience with them. When I dropped off my wedding dress in May they were going to confirm the price with me. When I went back to pick it up in early July, they had not even cleaned it. There was some miscommunication and they were going to communicate the price to me but never did, and instead let my wedding dress sit there for months, uncleaned leaving an opportunity for the stain to set in. Outside of this experience, they always seem to take longer than expected on garments (a week for a regular clean, they say things will be ready and then are not). Recently moved to Clinton hill from Gramercy and needed a new dry cleaner/tailor for simple alterations. Looked at a bunch of businesses in my area with mediocre reviews. Stumbled upon Boerum Hill Dry Cleaners and felt like it was the one thanks to its high rating and proximity. Went last Thursday and the woman there was SO NICE which is so important to me. I was sad to leave my old tailor as we had built a good rapport over 10 years, but she really helped me feel comfortable as I tried on the dresses and she pinned them. I dropped off three dresses for simple shortened hemlines and one zipper fix. She told me to come back next Thursday (yesterday) and charged me $70. perfect. In the city I was paying 60$ for ONE HEMLINE so this was a dream. I pick up my dresses and must say they are absolutely perfect. The hems are impeccable and the man there was so nice! I'm a heavy cleaner users with all the business travel i do. Like many new to the area, I took my clothes to 4+ cleaners in the area, but I won't be returning to BH after they ruined a sweater and didn't get some items as clean as I've experienced with others. My "dry clean only" wool sweater was less than a year old (in near new condition when I dropped it off): It came back pilled and had 2 holes in ripped in the top of the middle back (not a place you'd get a typical snag while wearing it). I found that unless I pointed out explicitly any stains, there wasn't much care to take care of any other dirty areas that might have been found on the garment (when sending out delivery, you can't pin point all the spots on site... they just don't review them well enough for me). Maybe I was "spoiled" by my previous cleaner, but typically I have had cleaners take more care to clean my garments. The prices seem to be on par with most in the area (a few higher costs here for jackets and special items and lower on others...so it's a wash). I do like that they provide their items in a nice professional bag - definitely a plus. Thus it's the little details that will make me a returning customer to spend $100 a week at a cleaner. I've had just about every experience you can have with any dry cleaning service from good to bad and and in between but this place being the one place that is all good. They are probably the best kept secret as far as dry cleaners go. They have such exceptional service and a great turn around. They've been able to get out stains that no other dry cleaners have been able to, they get out pills from delicate fabrics making any garment looking brand new without even asking, they even repair garments with complex fabric and material that you would have thought would have been unrepairable. On top of all that the owners and the people that work here are super sweet and completely honest about what they can get done. I just wish they could repair and clean shoes then my life would be set! On that note all I can say is that as long as I live in New York I will not be going to anyone else. Family-owned, cleaning on premises. Why are they unique? They care. Weird for a cleaners, right? Reasons to Believe #1: They stayed open for me. I went to Cobble Hill Cleaners by mistake. Went to Yelp and searched for "best dry cleaners for wedding dresses nyc" and clicked on this instead of Boerum. I am not BK-savvy so I went to the wrong one and knew I'd be 15 minutes past closing to Boerum. I called them and she said "don't worry, just come, and take your time." What?? Reasons to Believe #2: They are accommodating and generous. I had a big marker stain on my wedding dress (don't ask), and he knew I wanted to ultimately sell the dress (which means, if we can't get the stain out, but can get everything else out, still futile). He said he would try to get the stain out free-of-charge, and if he was successful, he would proceed to the rest of the dress. What?? Reasons to Believe #3: They do whatever it takes. So basically, the owner himself said he worked at the stain for a long time (I think over 1.5 days of hand detailed washing), even "with a qtip by hand" and said he could only get 30% out. He said "let me try one more time." He called me the next day and said "it's pretty much out!!!" He didn't have to do this, but he did, and I'm so appreciative. I got the dress back, whiter than when I first wore it on my day. Oh, btw, they were very very fair in pricing. Take it this way--I got quotes from other places that were ridiculous for cleaning ($600 from Jeeves) w/o preservation, so I appreciate that they didn't try to eff me here. Thanks! read more

I had purchased a gently used wedding dress for my upcoming wedding from Bridal Garden ( a charity shop where designers donate their showroom pieces, and all proceeds to to the store's charity - an awesome wedding gown resource, btw). The dress wasn't in a wedding before, however it was gently used as it's been tried on and had stains in weird places, such as lipstick on the inside of the bust - probably from trying it on, and some staining around the armpits area, and a minor stain on the front. I fell in love with this one of a kind dress, and decided to risk it. I found Boerum Hill Dry Cleaners by doing extensive search online for a reputable wedding dress cleaners, and I'm so glad I decided to go with them! They quoted me a much better price than several places with mediocre reviews of wedding dress cleaning services, they were super nice, communicated with me about some questions they had about it during the cleaning process. They quoted me for 3 week turnaround, but actually it was ready in about 2-2.5 weeks. The dress I got back was like brand new, whiter than white! They not only went over the spots they marked up to clean, but they did a thorough top to bottom cleaning. Mind you, this is a dress with pleats, satin, silk, some beadwork, the works - so not a simple job to do. I was so nervous about dry cleaning of my wedding gown just 2 weeks before my destination wedding. I looked long and hard and read reviews and this is when i came across Boerum Hill Dry Cleaners. I was a total nervous wreck when i dropped off the dress not knowing what to expect. 8 days later when i picked it up, everything turned out to be beautiful! The dress was gorgeous , wrapped and packed very nicely and survived travel on the plane to Costa Rica. When i wore it on my wedding day, i looked so beautiful and received many compliments. AMAZING JOB ! I got married a month ago and I wanted to get my WEDDING gown dry cleaned after the party. Small Premise: my wedding gown was a very special dress. It's Italian (bought it over there), made of beautiful silk, extremely delicate and also super-expensive. I was struggling to find a good place that would have done a good job for a reasonable price, and at the end I choose Boerum Hill Dry Cleaners. I couldn't be happier! The dress had several stains (coffe, wine, etc...), and it was definitely super-dirty at the bottom because Italian wedding gowns do not have any way to lift the train to make the dance easier (the dress indeed ends up getting complitely dirty or even worse ripping apart). Bottom line...they made an amazing job! Wedding dress came out beautifully cleaned. Believe me if I say that it's even cleaner then when I bought it! I spend $ 150 and had to wait almost a month but was definitely worth it. I did a stupid thing and wore my silk Samantha Pleet maxi dress on my bike a few weeks ago. Of course it got caught in the spoke and black oil was all over the bottom. Distraught, I took it to my normal dry cleaner who of course didn't get it out at all. At this point, I was really upset. So I chanced my hand at boerum hill. I brought the dress in and explained what happened to the guy. He was so nice about it and said he would do everything he could to get it out for me. Friendly and talented neighborhood dry cleaners, so happy I found you! Their hours are far shorter than some other places in the neighb (e.g. 200 Dry Cleaners) but they make up for it by getting the job done well and with a smile, and not charging super-high rates (e.g. Bridge Cleaners). On the rare occasion they can't get a stain out totally on the first try, they try again without you having to ask. I have also gotten a bunch of things tailored here (work dresses and skirts, jeans) and they do an excellent job at a fair price and time frame. Also seems to be a draw for people getting wedding dresses preserved. Last time I was there getting fitted for some tailoring work on a bunch of pieces, I listened as a girl no joke talked for 30 mins straight about how she wanted them to treat her wedding dress. Yes, your clothes will come back fine. I've lived all over Brooklyn and used a wide variety of dry cleaning services. It's not rocket science, so let's not get too enthusiastic about a dry cleaner actually doing its job right. No, your clothes won't be there when they are supposed to. I've used their service for the past three months and they consistently need at least 4 working days to get two-three shirts back to me. And these are not those special cases where they are hard at work getting a stain out, these are just two shirts in need of regular cleaning. Yep, four working days while 99% of the other services I used around BK will guarantee your clothes back by end of day next day. Also, this place is expensive. I'm honestly puzzled by the other reviews. Anyway... not going to use them anymore. Walked over there way too many times to find out my clothes weren't ready yet. This is it... shouldn't take a working week for 2-3 shirts. Also, I understand closing on Sunday, but 6pm closing time in Brooklyn? Come on. read more

These guys are so good I wish I lived in Brooklyn permanently, so I could get them to clean my clothes all the time. Normally, when I take a dress to the dry cleaner, they'll do what they can with it, but there will still be one or two residual stains left from years of wear. Sure, fine - I'll deal with it. But not these guys. They kept one of my items for a week and a half so that they could get every last mark out of it. The result? The dress looks good as new. This is really great dry cleaner in the neighborhood. I wish I could give them 4.5 stars!! The good -- they do an amazing job cleaning clothes! Seriously. Everything is done thoroughly and carefully. I've never lost anything or had anything come back damaged. Everyone is also super friendly. Right now, I only use this cleaner for my nice stuff, the stuff I really want to be taken care of perfectly. Why not for everything? It's a little expensive (but not tragically in the scheme of NYC). I find it hard to get there during their business hours!! They close before I leave work, and the weekend hours are limited. I get it, but it means that I can't bring my clothes in or pick them up. I would use this place always always always if they extended their hours or added delivery. Anyway, if you can get there while they are open, I highly recommend their service. Great deal for wedding dress cleaning! The wedding dress specialist (I think he's the owner?) here does everything in house and I've found him to be quite knowledgeable with stain removal methods. My high end designer wedding dress was pretty sad after the wedding (dirt + alcohol stains) and all of the highly recommended cleaning and preservation services in Manhattan quoted me ~$700 with a 3 week turnaround. I finally decided to take a chance here and came home with a pristine clean gown in 10 days for only $150. Your experience may vary depending on type of fabric (mine was delicate lace) and nature of stains but it doesn't hurt to consult with the owner and see what he thinks. They are honest and really will go at length to take care of your garment! read more

I had a food stain in my favorite white dress (brown splat right in the middle!) that they made disappear! And they do very good tailoring as well. dry cleaners that know their craft. I had a Philip Lim dress with a coffee stain that was quoted $120 for a clean at Madame full-of-it in the UES. Since I don't burn my money in the fireplace I chanced a cleaning here. I explained the situation and the stain and the value (emotional and monetary) of the dress to them. the good-man told me he would try a conservative non-wet method first to preserve the sapphire blue color. i came back and saw that the outline of the stain was still there. so he tried a wet-rinse method next and voila! it worked like magic and my dress looks new. all this cost $12. overall he was really careful to explain the consequences of the cleaning methods to me. they don't try to sell you snake oil, in fact, he errs on the side of caution. but it worked out great for me. his wife does tailoring too (not dirt cheap). all the work came back pretty (except for one skirt where the hem is already unraveling). I would definitely come here more often it if were closer and the hours were better. but happy they can maintain their quality of life. read more

They work overtime on stains, and have great time and money-saving advice for my suits, shirts and ties. I was a little worried moving to the area from Manhattan with my suits, but I have found them to be even better! I havent used their tailoring services, but they do have them. I've been coming here for years and it's always excellent service. The owners are so friendly and they always get things clean as should any dry cleaner. But the difference is in how they treat you. Even when I moved away for a couple of years, when I came back to the neighborhood, they remembered me. The whole staff is very nice. They do a great job tailoring as well.
