This is a beautiful sprawling complex of a park. It is so well laid out that it can make for a nice day to just get out of the house to enjoy yourself. I came here because I was to attend an event...which I missed. Because I was unaware of how many different entrances to separate area there were. I had driven around for a minute at the one entrance, parked and got out to walk around a bit. This area had the ballfields and a few trails. The next entrance up took me back to an area where pavilions are located and I could see that this was well used as each pavilion was in use. This reminded me of all my family reunions I had attended. What I did not know was that there was one more entrance further up the road that I did not go down. More pavilions in this area and I am told that it is a bit more secluded. What I did like was that you could drive into the area and park in one of the many lots further in and get out and explore. Cosca Park is awesome. It dates back to the mid 60s, originally named Clinton Park. Currently it is named after Louise F. Cosca in memory of a member of the Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission, that was instrumental in the parks creation. I have some very fond memories of this park growing up. This park is massive, covering over 690 acres. One of the largest I have visited. I have spent many days of my childhood at this park. It is a fun and entertaining now as it is was back in the 80s. It is a nature preservation park so they try to keep the land in its natural state (as possible). Not much has changed through the many years of me coming here. The park has many nature trails that you can go hiking or mountain biking. There are 5 main trails, red, blue, purple, orange and green, ranging from 1 to 2 miles. The good thing about the trails are that they are interconnected and you can keep going for many miles. There are 6 tennis courts (4 lighted and 2 unlighted) and basketball courts on campus It also has ample parking at various lots and a huge lake (Cosca Lake) that you can go fishing in or rent a paddle boat (in theory). The paddle boat facility is in bad repair and looks abandoned. One of the nature trails borders the lake. But wait, there's more.....The park has a few baseball diamonds, two lighted softball fields, one unlighted softball field, two lighted baseball fields to be exact, and a skate park. The baseball fields are very nice. This park really does have everything. There are 25 campgrounds with/without electricity hook ups that are available to rent. There are also covered pavilions that you can use to host an event and picnic tables and benches all over the park. And of course their are restroom facilities. The park is also home to the Clearwater Nature Center, which is currently closed but hopefully will open again real soon. I remember visiting it as a kid and they had a few small animals such as turtles and frogs and tons of exhibits about nature. The park has a couple of awesome playgrounds that the little ones will find enjoyable for hours. The upper one is for bigger kids and the lower one closer to the lake is for the littles. read more

This review is mainly about the Nature Center inside the Park. We did a couple trails, very well marked with signage (pretty hard to get lost). Plenty of parking near Nature Center, with access to trails- very close to the lake. Nice walk up to Center with steps or a well done handicap ramp with information signs along the way about nature. The ramp and steps follow along a fast moving stream that has two small ponds with fish. The Nature Center is really nice with great displays and wildlife to get up close to for viewing. Snakes, Turtles, Frogs and an entertaining barking Crow. Friendly Staff and very nice restrooms definitely make this must stop when in the Park. read more

Great park to take your family and you can have a party there. This place is huge. My sons really enjoy the skate park part of the park. My wife likes to walk around the river. They have all types of events here as well. One time my family hosted a family reunion there. Once it starts to get warm take your family there for some much needed fun. read more

Came here for a job event and it was nice. As l am a B-more City gal and not at all familiar with this area of PG county, the park had multiple entrances along Thrift Rd., so l made my way down to each one until l found the right one! We had our event in the family pavillion area, which was not that huge, but not small either. There was a covered pavillion, so the event could carry on whether rain or shine, a restroom area, swings and sliding board for the kids and a decent amount of picnic tables with attached benches. As l was finding my way to my job's event area, l came across an area that looked like it was dedicated to the kiddies, with a host of outdoor playing areas. I also came across an area that had a baseball/softball field, basketball court and tennis court. I also found out on my way out, that they had a lake area as well. Beautiful park scenery made the drive bearable, but I won't promise that l would visit this park if there isn't a job sponsored event here because that 90 min drive doesn't peak my interest to do so, but l will kindly come if my job is hosting an event and l have nothing else planned. read more

What a hidden gem tucked away in a quite part of Clinton, Md. I have lived in PG County for over 25 years never knew about this park until recently. If you want to spend a lazy day fishing this is the place. No matter where you go in Md, DC or Va parking is a problem, but not in this park.....plenty of parking available. This is such a lovely place to take a hike, bike or even a short walk. There seems to be something for everyone. I am sure you can paddle boat, I was there late in the evening but notice the boat house after walking around the lake. There is a tennis court, play ground and a skate boarding area!, so impressive. I was so impressed that I went a second day and followed the trail to the "Clear water Nature Center". The, "Clear Water Nature Center" is small but nice. The ranger there was a little short when I asked a question, but after all it was 430 and they close at 5 pm. The hiking trails are well marked, also if you want to get your steps in for the day a walk around the lake will give you a couple of thousand. There is a covered picnic area, also there are some picnic tables located close to the lake. I believe there are 3 entrances to the park, and the camp grounds are located across the street (yes you can camp). I don't know if I should say this or not, but I love the fact that it wasn't over crowded. I have visited other parks and at the end of the day trash cans normally are over flowing, but not this one. It was so clean! If you just want to spend a nice laid back day at the park give this one a try, you will not be disappointed. This is a fantastic location in amongst a beautiful lake and forest. We have only visited for the playground area but there are paddleboats, walking trails and camping sites available. There is also an awesome skate park that my son had a great time running around in. During our most recent visit there were older kids skateboarding and younger kids riding scooters on it and they all were having a ball. They have a very large playground area that has plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. They also have a smaller playground in a separate area just down the hill. It takes me about 20 minutes to get to this playground so it's not one that I would come to every day but it's fun to go to a different one now and then and it is great to have this place as an option. They also have real bathrooms which is a huge plus! read more

This is Marylands best secret hidden park and if you know about it you are very fortunate!! This is a beautiful serene park with a huge lake you can go paddle boating take the train ride or go visit the nature center where they have plenty of turtles I'm very happy coming here the bathrooms were immaculate the only negative where the bugs but it's nothing that can be done by the park it's nature after all I had my daughters graduation party here and everything was flawless the park ranger came didn't have a problem with our DJ and was very polite and he went to each individual site making sure everything was running smoothly I highly recommend this part of your having a large family function everyone will be happy!! read more

The skatepark was amazing. It was well kept and had a decent amount of ramps, stairs, and a pretty big bowl

WOW!! What a GEM for PG County!! Tucked away in Clinton, this massive park is the best I've been to in the entire DMV area. It is absolutely beautiful and relaxing, first of all. Gorgeous trees, plenty of shade, a lake, shaded picnic areas, grills, volleyball nets, running trails, multiple play areas... But the best things are: the huge and awesome age-themed upper playground, the THREE DOLLAR (for an hour) paddle boats, train and nature center!?!?! Cannot believe this place was 10 minutes from home all this time and I've just found this summer. Needless to say I have been taking my 2 young girls here several times a week now to play and explore. We even spent the 4th of July paddle-boating and hanging out at the park. Very enjoyable and could become a tradition?:) read more

Cosca rv and camp park is a hidden gem. Its the closest rv park to Washington, and the most inexpensive. Situated in wonderful park with plenty of firewood. Toilet building needs some TLC. Nearest town is Clinton with all sorts of shops. Thoroughly recommended read more

I enjoyed the park but finding the pavilions is not easy. When you use the GPS with the official address you end up at the ball field. It would be nice if the signs for the pavilion were more prominent or illuminated like the ball field. I drove around 3 times before I found the place and other folks attending our event had the same problem. The pavilions are in a shaded area with lots of tree so it was ideal on a hot day. read more

Awesome place for everything outdoors!! I've been coming here since I was in high school. My mom lives up the street; within walking distance. There are two parks, perfect for children and a new skate park. I also enjoy feeding the ducks. It wasn't until recently that I decided to take full advantage of the park for my daughter's first birthday party. I wanted something cost effective, kid-friendly and with a variety of activities that would allow me to do minimal entertaining. I chose to reserve (by showing up at 7 a.m.) one of the first-come, first-serve picnic tables by the water, the trail and the lower park area. To be honest, the pavilions were too expensive. There was a small grill that we cleaned and covered in foil. A large bag of charcoal lasted about 5 hours of grilling, with half leftover. After decorating for out Safari-themed bash, the area of 4 tables, grass and trees and all of Mother Nature's glory really started to look like something. We covered the tables with table cloths and wrapped the trees with ribbon. The most amazing part of the experience was all the park had to offer. There was a train that rode around the park for $1 and paddle boats that rode 4-6 people for a low cost as well. Overall, a great venue for a summer event!! read more

This has been my favorite park for years. Lots of walking trails and other activities for children, including playgrounds, skateboarding, a lake, and more. The attached nature center, however, is a heartbreaking experience for anyone who prefers to see even captured animals in a somewhat natural environment. These poor animals are on fake turf, plastic floats, with fake plants and no dirt. It is full of sad, depressing habitats for the animals on display. They can do better! read more

This is a perfect place for great outdoor family time. The playgrounds are big, clean and safe. There are beautiful woods all around with trails safe for walking or letting your little one ride a bike. The lower playground overlooks a beautiful man-made lake where there's fishing and a walking trail all around. I wouldn't normally review a municipal park but this one stood out and not in a good way. Really what pushed me to writing this review was when my daughter describes the playground to my wife when we got home by saying "I'm glad we went because I think they are going to bulldoze it soon". To call the playground area run down would be an adequate description. I fully believe 15 years ago this was a fabulous facility but looks woefully neglected now. All but one swing has been removed, more slides have plywood blocking their use than don't, some areas of the rubber ground are torn out to the asphalt 8" below, climbing apparatus is missing, and rust and fading is on nearly all the equipment leaving it shabby looking. I now tend to agree with my daughter, my tax dollars would be better justified in tearing this down than allowing it to be maintained in this condition. I'd give one star but I can say that the facility is very large and the bathroom facilities are nice and close to the playground. read more

What a gem of a spot! It's smack dab in the middle of a D.C. suburb in Maryland AND it's 8 miles from the metro station AND...wait for it...it was $13/night!!!! (Senior citizen discount for the win! ). The normal non-discounted price is $23/night, which is still crazy good! I wasn't able to find anything under$60/night before this place. It's first come first serve, there are 23 spaces and, according to the park office, it is never full. We are currently 1 of 4 campers. It's a great base camp for D.C. exploration. There are bathrooms and showers. They look like any other state park I've ever stayed in. read more

OMG, this team cannot decide what their hours are going to be on the campground. As a result, it is difficult to pay on the weekends, and when you do not pay (because usually no one is there) you get jacked up by the police. While my husband and I were still at church, the police came and severely frightened our daughter. The three of them took down her information and phoned it into a system, and told her she had to pay or move the rig immediately. My poor child was horrified as she left messages trying to reach us. We had been previously told that there was no one in the office on the weekends; therefore, we should pay on Mondays which we've done consistently. This weekend the park hired someone for the first time to work on Sundays but failed to inform customers of the change in policy. This is the 2nd time the police told us that there is always someone here on the weekends in the summer. They lied both times. According to the front office, today is the first time they have had someone there on the weekend in a long time, and she will only be working on Sundays. If you show up on Saturday, be prepared!!! We only come here when the other parks are full but the cost benefit ratio was making it worthwhile. Now, the pain is out weighing the cost benefit. Walmart parking lot is looking better everyday. read more
