The park has a picnic shelter with picnic tables under it and a grill just outside of it. It has two picnic tables. One of the tables is rectangular and the other is a square table with a checkerboard on it. There is also a couple of picnic tables and a grill in a grassy area in the center of the park's circle. You will also find a nice full basketball court at the park and a nice paved trail passes through it. It is a really nice trail and very peaceful. The highlight of the park though, is its playground. The playground has a rubber mud free floor, which is in great shape. There are benches around the playground's perimeter where parents can sit and watch their little ones. The playground's equipment includes a small jungle gym with slides, a large net climbing structure with a slide. There is also a bank of swings with a toddler swing, An ADA compliant swing, and some traditional swings. This is a very nice park. I didn't know if I would make a special trip to visit, but it is still very nice. I ended up here because I had picked up some food from a carryout joint and needed a place to eat it. The park's picnic shelter was the perfect spot. So, if you are in the area, and looking for a park to visit. I recommend checking this place out.

this park doubles as an overpass of the woodrow wilson bridge....from an aerial view, it's actually…read morequite pretty since you can see the intricate landscaping of this landmark. i didn't spend too much time here, as i was just "passing by" on the way to the woodrow wilson bridge trail during my morning run from national harbor, md to alexandria, va via the wilson bridge. the climb to get here was mildly challenging, but short, and i had just a few minutes to admire this park before i ascended onto the bridge. there aren't any restrooms or water fountains here, but one could take time to sit on one of the many benches and just admire the panoramic views of the potomac river and national harbor. this park is suitable for walkers, runners, rollerbladers and cyclists, but is not open to cars - vehicles have their own ramp up to the bridge.

I saw 2 15-inch Rodman Cannons, a house water trof and some collapsed cement structures. At the front of the park is a huge patch of green space with picnic tables under shade trees and a restroom structure. The Fort dates back to 1863, was constructed to defend the water approach to Washington DC and operated to 1878. It spans about 70 acres and sits 100 feet above the Potomac River. Along the backside of the trail (along the river) you can see Alexandria, The George Washington Masonic National Memorial, Mount Vernon and other monuments. The Park also has a small beach area to explore as well. I liked the placard, to the left as you enter the trails with the picture that has the superimposed image of what the Fort's gate looked like. I gave me a real idea of where the Fort was and you can really see where the gate would have been. To the left is also where you will find the 2 cannons. If you go to the right you will eventually hit the beach, The park is located off the water and has some nice, be it short nature trails. There are also some open green space. There was a guy in one of the fields letting his unleashed dogs running wild. Outside of the few remnants of the Fort, and some information placards, this is a decent and somewhat fairly maintained nature park. It is far off of the road and is very peaceful. I would recommend wearing long pants and a long sleeved shirt because some areas has some thick brush. Bug spray would not be a bad idea either. I like this park. You can just feel the history. I wish there was more of the Fort that was preserved, but oh well, the placards placed around the park do a decent job explaining where you are located in reference to the Fort. This place is definitely worth a visit. Being a nature park, it is not very accesible and would be very challenging for someone with mobility issues. I enjoyed my time at the park in addition to getting a little peace, I learned a bit as well.

The farm has a visitor center, stable, and chicken feeding at 10 am daily. Rangers provide an overview of the farm. The farm is free of charge and parking is free as well. Kids should definitely check out the Jr. Ranger program at this location. It is not super hard and they have a great version for toddlers to do! Overall it is a beautiful farm that you should check out!

This was one of the Jr Ranger stations on the map, so while we were closer to the city, we choose to come here as they open fairly early compared to the others. We were the only people there other than the rangers. It is quiet the walk from the parking lot, but scenic with farm animals on the way to the station. The inside area was amazing, with facts, books, coloring station, a map of local stations and examples of badges from there (super cool), interactive cow milking station (with water), a play farm stand, etc. We got to learn about the site, and had an opportunity to learn about the five different animals they keep, see the feed for each of them and helped feed the chickens. Was a great experience for all of us. Thank you!

We encountered several sprinklers there when walking through this park. We saw a lot of ducks and birds at this park. In the middle of the park is a circular area with a paved circular pathway around it. The park was clean and well maintained like the other parks in Old Town. Oronoco Park was the largest and most open park we encountered in Old Town. It had one of the most quiet and calming ambience among all the parks as well. Trying to evade the sprinklers was a small distraction in our walk through this park. Avoid the pathway areas if you don't want to get watered down by the sprinklers there.

I can't speak for the whole park as I have only really seen one area of the park on each visit. Picnic area B and I are very familiar, and I have come to like this part of the park. Maybe one day I will make it back out here and explore more, but this review at this time is for what I have experienced thus far. Picnic area B is a set of areas sandwiched between Battery Meigs and Battery Humphreys. A great area to have a big gathering as both ends have bathroom facilities for use and those can be very useful. The one thing that you do not realize is how close you are to the water. No matter where you are in this park you are a very short walk to the water. Picnic area B is fairly close to both the Potomac River and Piscataway Creek. There are also trails that will connect areas and take you along the waterways. Specifically for Area B, there is ample parking for any amount of people you may invite to an event. It is shaded, but not as shaded as you would think. Throughout the day, if you want to be in the shade you will either have to move or bring a way to keep the sun away. If you do plan an event here, be sure to clean up after yourself. Do not leave anything behind as this is a park that is patrolled and it is your duty to pick up after yourself.

It's one of those hidden gems!…read more Great place to walk / hang out Great place to walk around, play basketball, chalk art the sidewalks, have a picnic. Located below the I-495 -Woodrow Wilson Bridge, the park is right at the southernmost point and great water views of Virginia and sites within Maryland like the National Harbor across the Potomac River. There is a walking trail along the river with informational signs and displays that describe the really cool, informative information markers of sights and the past history of the area along the trail. A 10-minute walk on the trail will bring you to other parks (Ford's Landing, Shipyard, and Roberdeaux) and eventually to Old Town Alexandria with its many shops and restaurants --situated along the water. Another added plus is that the park offers a place for fishing, playgrounds, basketball courts, and multi-use fields. I came here with some friends for the first time and had a relaxing time just being outdoors and enjoying this great space in nature. We grabbed a picnic table....while having lunch and taking in the weather. Between the space and multi-use areas, it is the perfect spot to for walks along the river, running, exercising or simply....raking time to put things on pause and enjoy the outdoors. ELITE TIP: It is a good place to park if you are planning to visit Old Town Alexandria and want an easy place to park.....without having to deal with the limited street parking, risk of parking meter tickets or the high price garage parking. and enjoy a walk along the river.

It's best to go early. Plenty of benches and covered areas for comfort while in the sun. Great place to walk with your dog or go on a date. There were also other places you could park further down the walk if you don't want to start at the end near the bridge. Lovely walk that I would enjoy doing again.
