Hola!! This is a cool and hipster local cafe, in the center of Barcelona and right next to the University. Their espresso and cappuccino here was fantastic. If you're a coffee connoisseur, you will love it here. They also serve light snacks, and great selections of local beers and desserts. There are seating outside for dining al fresco. After a 6am flight from Dublin, arriving in Barcelona was a breath of fresh air. It was sunny, electric and ready for the taking. I can't think of a more appropriate first stop than Cosmo, a trendy cafe near university. Cosmo was SLAMMED when we arrived around 2pm. There's lots of seating indoors and out, with nooks and crannies all around. Ordering at the counter is encouraged, however there were ample servers bussing tables/taking orders right at the table. Although we weren't hungry, we camped out for about two hours drinking beers and coffees (with our luggage mind you). We nearly lost track of time, because Cosmo was ideal for people watching. An energetic crowd of college students made for a fun experience. Before we left, we chatted with one of the baristas who was curious to hear about our European travels. The sense of community here is strong. Cosmo might be overwhelming and often times hectic for some, but they've found their place in the cosmos. read more

Cosmo is so amazing! One of my favorite places in Barcelona for numerous reasons. The atmosphere is great, it gives of a really nice cosy feeling and it is also just a really cool looking space. The service has always been wonderful, the food is also amazing- delicious carrot cake and probably the best bikini I have had ( but its made slightly differently than the classic bikini). What really gets me is the iced latte, coming from the states this is a real treat- they make it slightly differently, but it does the job. Please please please if you are in Barcelona visit this cafe. The only downside, like others have said, is no wifi. However, for me that makes it more of place to come and relax. read more

This is such a cool restaurant to vist while in Barcelona. The menu is nothing close to what I would call "typical catalan or Spanish food", but the environment is very artistic and relaxed. There is a lounge section, with a black leather sofa to sit and read and there are also casual tables around the restaurant to grab a coffee or a meal. The hubby and I like to come here to chit-chat with friends or to get some reading done. The setting is cozy and hip. The drinks are nothing to write home about, but I like the fruit juice selection. A great way to get some vitamins after long hours under the sun. And amazingly one of the few places with soy milk. I quite like the art that they have on display. Cute and quirky street art style. Cosmo is an absolute gem for lunch. You come for the food, and end up staying hours for the atmosphere. The interior is fun and lively, an urban outfitters meets anthropologie with mismatched fabrics and colorful wall art. I've tried almost all of their salads and they're always presented well, fresh and reasonably priced. I recommend the Ariel salad if you're a fan of salmon. Their chai lattes and house lemonade are also worth a try. If your looking for somewhere casual to have lunch with friends or have some solo time reading a book, this is it. The atmosphere and chai latte that I had were both great. Staff was very nice. I also got a bikini which was extremely underwhelming. The bread wasn't good and it just had a glob of ricotta cheese on it with (what seemed to be) some low quality jamón. I would go back for coffee and cake, just not a lunch sandwich (they only had one on the menu so it's obviously not their speciality which is fine). I have to forward this review with a disclaimer: We tried to eat at another nearby restaurant but the wait was too long. We finally ended up at that restaurant the next day and didn't have nearly as good of an experience as at Cosmo. Cosmo was fantastic; on point! The atmosphere is nice and open, able to be patroned by people of all ages; there was even a table with Lego blocks on top for kids! Loved the inclusivity. Our food was excellent--a great surprise! The bread was nice and crispy-crunchy, yet fresh when you bit into it, and the breads seem to be dictated by the sandwich: We were given 2 different kinds of bread for our sandwiches, based on the sandwich ingredients. Very thoughtful. The flavor combinations were excellent, as were the fresh juices (very reasonably priced and EXCELLENT as well!). We chose a carrot, apple, and ginger juice along with a minty lemonade. We didn't participate in any dessert-eating--but probably should have--they looked awesome! It looked like they had great looking brownies, pies, and cakes when we were there. All the flavors were there and the service was fantastic, but being an American, I've got certain expectations when I hear the words "pastrami sandwich" put together. I'm right there with the rest of the reviews-cozy and unpretentious. Great place to hang out and grab a cafe con leche on your break. It beats to its own drum, but in the best way. The art changes, they have live music, it's thematic without being too much. Something is always changing here, giving Cosmo a dynamic that other cafes around Plaça Universitat lack. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's clean and cute and easily lovable-if you can find a place to sit. Lots of students, good music, easy-going vibe about the place. Also, good carrot cake! Came strictly for coffee and finally I am content. Out of the 10 other coffee shops I have tried so far, this one was actually good, making it the best coffee I have had in Barcelona. Keep in mind that the bar is set very low here. The only problems I have with this place are: 1) there is no WiFi, which any good coffee shop should have. Come on guys, don't be so cheap. 2) it's hotter than hell inside this place. I think if you sit toward the front of the restaurant, there is some sort of breeze that comes in and hits you, but if you sit in the back, bring a gym towel and an ice bucket and enjoy the sauna. Next time I come, I'll sit in the front, have a quick espresso and then go have some bomb gelato next door. If you're on a quest for good/decent coffee, come here. The Cosmo is next to a quite street without traffic - just behind the university. It's ambiance is hipster, with funny hidden things like the restrooms sign which actually works. Really excellent. My "oink" panini (jamón sorrento with cheese, lettuce and tomato) was so tasty, and I also really enjoyed the carrot cake. I had a bite of my friend's "veggie" (mozzarella, lettuce, tomato and avocado and pesto), and it was also terrific! Choose sofas in the back or in the front, intimate tables throughout, or on the terrace, perfectly situated on the beautiful Enric Granados street. The art gallery changes often so there's always something new for the eyes and they provide newspapers,magazines,etc. for reading. The Veggie sandwich is scrumptious but there are lots of simple yet good food options to choose from and the fresh squeezed juices are delicious!
