I was contacted very shortly after I sent the email even though it was in the evening. I was very surprised to hear back from somebody even though it was after hours. This is when I met dear Kelsey! She had me come in the next day and was able to fix my hair, even to the point where you couldn't tell how bad it was before! As a matter of fact it was gosh darn cute! I have been going to her ever since and plan to continue! I thoroughly enjoy every visit I have with Kelsey! Not only is she an artist at what she does but she is also quite personable! Immediately upon walking it, there's a station to sanitize and disposable masks provided. All the employees where them 24/7, however clients may need to remove them depending on the service they're getting. However, they make it clear that it's a personal choice. The place is clean and cute. I came in with box dye bleach blonde hair, patchy, and roots showing. Even though it was obvious my stylist was a newer employee, she took every step to make sure I was comfortable. She explained the entire process and her reasoning. Before she moved on to another step in the process, she referred to her manager (maybe owner?) to get a second opinion. I appreciated that considering I was nervous because she was working with newer box dye. Between these two incredible ladies (I can't remember they're names - one had an incredible buzzed pixie cut and the other had think curly hair, who I think was the owner/manager) they transformed my hair. They both told me straight up what would work and what wouldn't, but what I liked was that for every idea I had that they weren't so sure about, they suggest a great alternative and why they think that. They're just so nice and personable! I would recommend to anyone. The prices where more than reasonable for the service and customer care (I was asked if I needed anything at all, down to a hot chocolate multiple times). I believe the service I got was called something like a Color Corrective, which was $64 a hour (if memory serves). When I asked for a trim, this incredible stylist actually listened. She did exactly what I asked. All in all, I had my roots touched up (they weren't bad), shampoo/conditioner wash, toning treatment, blow dry, lowlights foil added, shampooed/conditioner, trim off dead ends, blow dry and light style. All this cost about $180. They offer so many more services too! After being charged full price for a misstep, I will not be going back. When there are over a hundred other salons in the Fox Valley to choose from, why would I put up with that? This will be the thing I remember about Salon Aura. I hope $85 was worth that.

Changing stylists also creates other complications like not having current records of my personal hair care, what was used and the success of each perm or color. Joan and Jackie's record keeping methods help them keep track of what worked well and notes for the future. When I am unsure how to proceed, they are always ready with recommendations. They are not just stylists, they are beauty advisors who offer a number of different services to promote both healthy skin and hair. Joan and Jackie are not just stylists, they have become lifelong friends.

I am a dude with long hair past my shoulders so I didnt want to go to a typical barber shop like I did when my hair was shorter. I called a few days prior and was scheduled for 4pm on a Monday with Kate. I arrived as they were putting up new signage on the front window. I was welcomed by Kate when I arrived as was the only one in the salon besides her. Not sure if everything is done via appointment but it appears that way. I was offered water, coffee, or tea and chose a Chai Tea which turned out to be really good. My hair was washed and it was nice and relaxing. Kate then asked how I wanted it cut, and I told her that I only needed a trim because the ends were a little scraggly. She cut off just what she needed to and most of the length was kept. My hair looks fantastic and I will continue to come here when I need trims/cuts. If you want a great salon that has a high class feel but affordable prices then you want to come here.
