Here I am writing a review of Costco. I go here for almost everything. The optical department is great, I have been going here since they opened four (?) years ago. It is fast, reasonably priced, and has a good selection. I had tires installed here on two vehicles. They do a good job, tires are not cheaper anywhere else near here, and they have a great selection. Installation could be faster. Even with an appointment it takes nearly two hours. But I will still go back. In many ways the state of Georgia is filled with stupid people, nowhere more so than the state legislature. My specific complaint here is that in Georgia one may only own two liquor stores. So the Athens Costco cannot sell hard liquor. If you want Kirkland liquor (and you should) you need to go to Costco at Perimeter or Alpharetta. Do not blame Costco for this. If you want to eat lunch like a real CEO go to the foodcourt for the delicious $1.50 hot dog and coke. It's good. The other things at the foodcourt that have me addicted are the iced coffee and the ice cream sundae. Both are great depending on my mood, but I don't like the brownie bites because there are the soft kind which are not my style. Be careful when you buy glasses at Costco in Athens, Ga. Little to no Help after you buy them. I will not be back.

I had seen a rotating vanity that would be perfect for my bedroom. But I had to measure the space. Came back the next day to purchase. Couldn't find anyone to help in the area. So I found a red vested employee in clothing. She said that the red vest person in computers handled that area. No red vested person in computer area so I went to customer service..yes, I should know better. I was told that there was a person at the cash register area with a black vest. Looked all over for this invisible person!! So I walked around the perimeter checking out aisles for a red vest! ZERO!! So I thought I would call the front desk for help rather than walk around the entire store again. The totally unhelpful person who answered the phone said that I could get someone from the cash register register area. REALLY???? read more

I took a prescription to the optical store and the customer service was outstanding!! However, I chose to keep my frames to save money & I like them better than any of the new ones. I was charged $25 for using my old frames!! I have never had that happen at any other places I have been. Because of that, I will not return! read more

PHARMACY review- What a find! Very knowledgeable staff that works hard to know their customers. Patrick, the lead pharmacist is very personable and takes great care of his customers. Truly the best pharmacy I have ever been too on the past 40 years. read more

The people who work at this location are outstanding and let you know they care about your business and are extremely Customer friendly! Minus one star for insufficient inventory of many items. I wish I did not need to drive to Gwinnett or Brookhaven to experience a larger variety of food products read more

I am satasified with the shopping experience, however we have not been able to do any shopping recently. The Athens store only has 6 motorized carts for those what Are unable to shop without one. The last three times we visited the store there were no carts available, even After waiting over 30 minutes, our most recent visit I did run in for the one item needed while leaving the grandmother in the car. There were 5 members sitting outside waiting over 30 minutes for MOTORZIED cart and we're still waiting when I left. 6 motorsized carts and not what is required, especially when there are over 25 handicapped parking spaces. At this point you can Expect to start loosing some of your older and special needed members unless you add atleast 10-12 more motorized carts. read more

If you're a college student with parents who don't use their Costco membership, just tell them to cancel it! My dad gave me his Costco card since he doesn't use it (they still pay for it) and they told me I couldn't come in. I told them the situation and their words were "we don't care." Clearly they don't care about keeping members! Just go to Sam's Club. It's much better, and the employees are nicer. read more

Finally a Costco closer to home! Stopped by around just before lunch thinking it wouldn't be as busy but boy were we wrong. Was lucky to find parking and went in for lunch before shopping. Walked through the exit side as we always do and was stopped right before reaching the food court by an associate at returns. She told us the door was only for returns and if we didn't have any we were to go through the other side (with a big superiority attitude) She literally stopped helping the customer she was with just to yell out at us.. Made us walk back out and in and then have to explain to cashiers that we had to go through them to get to the food court because we all know Coscto blocks all their lines that aren't in use. That first impression was pretty upsetting because we have always gone through the exit side to get to the food court. It's just practical. And if we are wrong for it, it should have been addressed to us in a different manner. We're not new.. Besides all that, we ordered our regulars at the food court. Pretty much one of everything. LOL The whole warehouse is smaller than your typical Costco, I feel like, so the food court made up for the lack of space. A lot of people were sharing tables with strangers which was actually nice to witness. Once we finished our lunch we walked back out to get a buggy and walked back in to do our shopping. Spent $500 and pressured to upgrade our membership. Just the usual Costco experience. LOL read more

So happy to have a "local" Costco without having to drive 15 miles to another one. This location is definitely busy! - plan your day. The parking is ample, but the parking lot can be messy to get in/out. The gas pumps are enough, but could be better located to allow the flow of traffic in/out to be easier. Overall, I am still giving FIVE STARS because the staff are amazing and the location is well designed and local. read more

Phenomenal environment to shop or work in. I was a sams club member until they built a location in town and I've since discontinued my sam's membership because Costco can't be beat. Knowledgeable staff that can help me find what I came for, cleaner facilities, better prices, and my shopping cart wasn't rusty and squeaky to boot.
