landed in calgary and first stop after touchdown was costco. only one tax in alberta, and yes, alcohol is available in store here, which still feels like a notable difference compared to bc where it's typically sold through separate liquor stores due to provincial rules. barely any lineup at the cashier since it was still early. we go to costco wholesale pretty often whenever there's one nearby. it's just one of those places you end up wandering into without much planning. someone once joked you could do all your christmas shopping there, and honestly, they're not wrong. the roast chicken alone makes it worth a visit but we usually leave with way more than just the kirkland rotisserie chicken. iykyk. somehow that's turned into a few too many questionable squishmallows collected over time, plus a soft spot for sweet maui onion kettle chips and fever tree ginger beer. and of course the soft serve, chocolate and vanilla twisted high on a waffle cone, never misses. and it's hard to say no to a polish dog and a drink for $1.50. also, their return policy is basically unmatched, which is part of what makes the whole experience feel so effortless. read more

Attached to this Costco is a Costco Liquor store. Has some great collection of booze at an incredible price! Decided to stop in after last minute Christmas shopping. We needed Christmas Cheer for the holidays. There is absolutely no way I'm shopping the week of Christmas!!! It's crazy crazy busy from the time it opens to the time It closes no thank you. The cashier was very helpful and friendly, was quick getting in and out with our Christmas cheer! Even was able to snap a quick pic!! read more

My partner and I just moved here from the states. We have been to a few different Costco's in the area and this location is by far our favorite. There is a lot of differences between what Costco sells in Canada verses the states. So it's just different. So my rating is for this Costco in general and not Costco as a whole. Costco as a whole in Canada would get 2 stars because they don't accept VISA which is ludicrous. As a business owner, it's silly that Costco out in Canada doesn't accept visa. But to each its own. That's my only complaint as the establishment as a whole. But this location is our favorite! It's always clean and the staff is super friendly. I love getting to see new products that I can't get in the states. But on the flip side I miss some of the products that I used to be able to get. I've tried the poutine and it's a HIT. I love how we can order it separate and not all mixed together. No one wants soggy fries! Their pizza is good just like in the states. Out of the 5 Costco's we have tried, this is our favorite and we will continue to shop here. Thank you to the staff who have always been super friendly and super helpful. You guys rock! read more

This is a good location for a faster Costco experience, smaller lines, lots of stock, plenty of food sampling and overall great staff. It's worth the extra drive to this location even if you live closer to another because you'll most likely get in and out much quicker and you'll find what you need. Over the holidays I was surprised how smaller the lines were compared to the other Costcos. And the best part, lots and lots of parking... You won't need to drive up and down aisles looking for parking. read more

Called Costco to complain about the overreaching mask obsession and manager Brenda MacMaster hung up on me as I was telling my experience. I took my mask off 10 metres from exit while leaving and was told to put it back on. Brenda MacMaster is so rude. Costco pushes the Fear, paranoia and pro lock down narrative because they are the beneficiary when small businesses are forced to close by non elected Alberta Health. Even if Brenda MacMaster does not acknowledge the COSTCO policy is harming the community, half of her customers have this opinion. She should respect comments of members and hear them out. COSTCO is not the lowest price option any more. read more

The new kid on the block! Why is it when I go to Costco for chicken I leave with the most random stuff I didn't know I needed and I'm 400$ lighter? Sheesh. This is Calgary's newest Costco and it's in the new mall central area of Balzac (or as us inner city folk call it - Timbuktu). The handy thing to notice is that it's not yet as busy as the other zoos (I mean Costcos), so that's my sales point for this one. Like all Costco locations it's very tidy, organized, amazing looking meat (who said that?), great produce and busy cash tills. There is lots of parking and the access is far better than the other locations. A bonus was the new liquor store which has some great wines that are definitely cheaper than local stores. I tried three that I have never had before which were all very good choices leaving me to believe they have picked specific varietals for their selection. April challenge 15/30 - half way. read more

Have you heard of Costco....? Of course you have! It's the place where you get bulk food in massive portions, with amazing prices right! But guess what...to all you die hard Costco fans...not everything at Costco is a good price. You still have to use your brain and think about what you're actually getting. Example, I had a friend that bought a huge tub of mustard because...well...it was huge and a great deal....but guess what... He barely used much and ended up throwing it away because it took too much space in the fridge. Now that's an extreme example but unless your family or kids like to eat the same snacks or cans of soups for the month, it's really just wasteful. Don't get me wrong, costco has some great things and I love shopping there, but some times you can get carried away if you don't think about it and your bill will be $300-$400. Costco sells the name brand products so it's not going it be cheap. Tip: Using Costco for things like Window Coverings will cost you more then a Window Coverings storefront like Sheila's Window Toppers as it's not really Costco that's selling the product, it's a 3rd party company, with sales commissions and contractors. Additionally, it takes 2-3 times longer to get the product too...6-8 weeks by the time it's in your home. read more

Yowzers ! Do not make the mistake of expecting this Costco to not be too busy since it isn't right in Calgary. At 8:00pm in Friday the lineups to the checkout were way down the aisles. Probably 10-15 people in line down the aisle. I decided to forego the 20 minute line and leave. 3 stars since this location has the typical Costco selection of merchandise, a liquor store and ample parking. read more

Costco is Costco. You have to expect to be in a long lineup at checkout especially during the weekend when it is simply ridiculous. I guess this is how they keep cost down. The checkout lines, big portions/packages, and lack of selection are the main reasons that I try to stay away from Costcos at all cost. Most items are NOT priced cheaper than Superstore for instance, so I really do not get the allure of coming here. read more

Got my tires ordered online and an appointment was confirmed as well. I needed my tires to be installed sooner. Costco brings in a crew as early as 5:00AM to start working on vehicles starting at 6:00AM. I have to say that I am impressed. I came in at 5 and my vehicle was done just after 7:00AM. The Costco staff made us coffee and handed out cookies and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Costco gets it right again. read more

Would not buy tires from Costco again. Good tires, good price, lousy service. Service department too busy, so they do not answer phone. IF they call you back they do not try more than 1 phone number. Evening appointments were booked for 10 days. They do not do daytime appointments so you wait in line to get a number to wait again. It took 4 trips to finally get tires. PS, If you have a flat, hope you are near a Costco so you can get it fixed. Next time I will go with a tire shop with better service. read more

Last weekend a family member celebrated his 40th birthday and unfortunately we ordered the cake fro Costco. It was extremely dry and even the kids would not eat it We also bought a veg try in which the peas were not at their best and underneath the carrots were white. Who doesn't like Costco?! I recently took out a membership with them again and am scratching my head why I didn't have a membership for years. Now that I have a teenager who's eating my out of house and home it only makes sense for me now to bulk lots of food for him in bulk! I love the extra spacing parking spots - no more door dents! I love the packages of pre-cooked bacon where my son can take a bunch of strips & nuke them for 30 seconds and it's a great snack for him after school, I love the bakery, the bakery, meats (deli & fresh) & produce section. I recently bought a package of 4 pork tenderloins that I would have paid $40 at my regular grocery store I bought here for half that price. I love the cheese trays I can buy here and the variety that's always available. I recently bought a work printer here for about $80 less than it would have been any place else in the city, that alone more than paid for the membership. I recently bought a couple mondetta hoodies for $25 each?! They would have been $60-$75 anyplace else!? Love Costco! read more
