I went in today to return some minor unused items following the passing of my father which we had purchased for the funeral proceedings. All paid for with my card when accompanied by the member, my mother. Cannot process refund I was told as my mother, an 80-year old grieving widow must come in and return the items herself. I explained that this would be difficult for her as she would be on her own. Doesn't matter, not their problem as they have policies in place. CHAD, the manager and truly an unsympathetic moron, asserted that GDPR is the reason. What on earth does GDPR have to do with returning items in a store? CHAD couldn't even bring himself to mutter a simple "sorry for your loss..." Disgraceful and arrogant conduct. He finished the discussion with a threat to terminate my mother's membership as he found my comment that I would be posting this episode on social media unacceptable. I see many negative comments on Costco Watford associated specifically with CHAD. Please return this guy to stacking shelves where he belongs. read more

Costco. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. Ordered a B M W Watch from this company. After waiting five weeks for my watch to arrive l received an item that was nothing like the the B M W watch that was ordered. What I got was a low value poor quality item,and was not worth anything like the £45.00 + PP I had parted with. Oh god! Shopping at this Costco was such a crazy experience. Firstly, I love Costco, and am used to their stores laid out a certain way, but this one was just crazy different, and so mum and I went around the store trying to figure out where stuff on our shopping list would be located. Luckily we met some lovely staff members who told us which aisles to go to, but still a 45m shopping turned into a 2hr marathon. I also didn't find more than 1/3 of my shopping list (eg, no healthy natural granola, both choices had vegetable oil -yuck!) So while I still love me my Costco shopping, I would avoid this one like the plague. read more

As long as you are prepared to buy in bulk, then you're going to be happy here. Get a membership and reap the rewards. Or go with somebody who has one... Stuff is bought in big packs but at a really good price, meats are of good quality and while they may only carry one brand of each product, they are generally good ones. Kirkland Signature (their own brand) should not be sniffed at as still of good quality. Books are at knockdown prices and they carry clothing, furniture, electronics and jewelry in addition to all of the food that you can carry. No bags at all on offer so bring some with you, have a big car and load up for the future. read more

I like Costco. This is the first one I ever visited, and in my mind is at least as good as the others I've been to, if not better - and that includes the one I went to in Madison, Wisconsin. First off, you have to qualify to be a member so you can buy stuff - thankfully I have that covered due to my day job. It goes like £25 a year, and frankly you might make that back on the first visit. There are some items we always buy (we quite like the meat here) but you get some proper American surprises here - Otis Spunkmeyer frozen cookies once (stop laughing at the brand name), which were awesome and in this particular visit I was over the moon (and still am) that they had a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake in the frozen section. I've still got to eat that, and boy am I looking forward to it!! The own brand is pretty good (Kirkland), so is the meat and the bakery is awesome. Huge birthday cakes for £12 which are astonishingly good. The fruit and veg section isn't anything special, but you can get certain American imports even here - for example the sweetcorn cobs are an American brand which I swear to god is better than British sweetcorn. The downsides is that the store is vast, and set up very much as a warehouse. This does not look like a supermarket and so you need to set aside that expectation immediately. The other thing you'll have to get used to is the queues - people buy a lot of stuff, so checkouts can't process it all quickly. They do their best, but they generally can't keep up. Oh, and make sure you try the cafe afterwards. Footlong beef hotdog in a bun with unlimited soda for £1.50. The chicken bake seems expensive at £3. Never tried the jacket potatoes, but they're very popular and the pizza just flies out (I have tried that, and it's pretty good; it's quite a New York style) - but you can order it both by the slice and an entire pie. read more

She tells me they have the biggest kettle chips in the world (well this side of the Atlantic), and the most delicious chocolate and cream Halloween cake (which feeds 40 people!) for 11 pounds. I hate Costco! Don't get me wrong, there are bargains to be had. But if you are like me and don't like crowded places and people who may lack intellegence, then avoid. I always find that people don't pay attention here and they bang their huge trollies into you. That said, there are some things worthwhile going to Costco for. Such as loo roll and paper towels, when they are on bogof. They have a nice assortment of gifts and books and dvds. They do large slab cakes, which are great for big parties. You can have these personalized. The cafe is good value and has had more tables added over the last few years. We always buy our tyres and get them fitted here as they are always the best prices. Beware that not all buys are the cheapest and it does pay to know your supermarket prices. read more

Costco is a cash and carry and you have to be a member to be able to shop here, or be brought along with a member. Membership is restricted to those self-employed and individuals who work within certain industries, like the NHS, schools, public services. It is a good place to buy in bulk and the meat and fish is very good quality and better than the normal supermarkets. If you have room to stock the bulk items then this is a good way to buy things although will obviously cost in the short term. They do have bargains regularly but these can sell out quickly. It can get very busy also especially at the weekend and during xmas etc and I have regularly had to queue for 20 mins or more to pay. They also don't provide any shopping bags, although there are cardboard boxes at the till points. There is a cafe which serves a limited range of food and drink at very good prices - although the tea isn't great. read more

Costco is a super cash and carry. It is easy to get to just off the M1 and has a large car park. However it can get very crowded at peak times so if possible it is better to go midweek in the morning. The food is superb quality, meat and bakery items are second to none. They stock all sorts of non food related items too, from clothing to kitchen items. They also have a huge seasonal section which at the moment is stocked full of christmas gifts and decorations. During the summer months they sell, pools and garden items. The very best bit about costco is the free samples :) there are always plenty on the go. the cafe is great too a lage hotdog and drink for £1.50 They always have certain items on special offer which really do bring the cost down. often buy one get one free on staple items like toilet rolls and drinks. read more

This is a huge costco with mple parking, very close to the M1. It gets unbelievably busy at weekends with very long queues to pay (about 6 in ech line is not unusual) so it is worth checking what you want and ensuring it is worth the trip. I bought a costco membership via work as I work in the public sector. We hoped that we would find enough savings over one year to warrant the membership fee of about £30, but we didn't. Unless you have specific shopping needs it does not seem to cover itself on regular grocery shopping. The food court is reasonable but again queues can be quite long and the seating area is very basic and uninspiring. I did pick up a lot of items for when I had a baby, but even buying bulk nappies you saved just one or two pence each which can easily be matched by supermarket promotional offers which are always on one brand or another. read more

Costco is a great place. It's a similar set up to Costcos I've been to in the States, but obviously there is a UK slant on the products for sale. Kirkland brand doesn't feature as heavily here as in the US, but there's still lots of it around. You really must go with a list, and an idea of the comparable prices at a 'normal' store for the items you want, or you could easily be paying over the odds for the privilege of buying in bulk. For me personally, we have a set of things that we tend to buy that are either good value, or better quality than at the supermarket, so worth the extra cash. I portion things up with Ziploc bags (bought at Costco, natch) and freeze it, and it works very well. 1) Loo roll - the Kirkland one. When it's on offer, it's a great deal. They also do triple Velvet, which when it's on offer, is a good price 2) Chicken breasts - more expensive than the supermarket, but they're bigger, and there's generally no nasty bits to chop away. They run around £1.50 a breast, but I find one breast feeds 2 of us. 3) Angus mince - definitely more expensive than the supermarket, but so so so much nicer. No grizzle, low in fat, great texture. Their normal mince is cheaper and is fine, but not as nice as the Angus (look for the black foam container) 4) Kirkland hot dogs - in the big chiller section (ie, not by the deli stuff). Same as what they sell in the café. I wrap them up individually in clingfilm and then put them all in a big Ziploc in the freezer. 5) Frozen chicken strips - delicious, great for a quick dinner or snack, last forever 6) Herbs & spices - huge containers that you won't get through before they go out of date, but even if you only use a quarter of it, it's cheaper than the supermarket. Best of you can share with a family member or 10. 7) Kirkland vanilla - great quality, great value, worth getting 8) Kirkland chocolate chips - if you're used to American choc chips, you'll be happy to find this. Huge bag, makes baking cheaper! 9) Two litre bottles of Pepsi - around 80p a bottle. Normally can't get it for cheaper than £1 a bottle even in a sale at the supermarket My father in law likes the danishes, the part baked bread rolls, and cod liver oil. I got some name-brand sunglasses that were £110 at Boots for £70 at Costco. I could easily go here and spend a couple of hundred pounds. 48 packs of Kirkland AA batteries for around £10. A normal trip with the list of things I mentioned above runs us around £100. The downsides? 1) Queuing. You'll be standing around a lot. 2) You have to be eligible to be a member, or know someone who is that will take you along, and it costs £30 a year. 3) Everything is huge. We wanted some pickles, but the only jar wouldn't have fit in my fridge (but was only £3.50). 4) Location - we don't have a car, and it's a trek to get to. We tend to wait until someone else can give us a lift, or we take a minicab home for around £15, which negates some of the savings but still works out for us (you can Uber from Costco Watford). 5) Cash, debit card, cheque, or Amex only. If you're a guest of someone with a card, they technically have to pay for you. In reality, you can pay cash. read more

Thank you for your excellent customer service at your 800 number on your Costco app. Yesterday evening I phoned (blessed to reach Corine) to request help in ordering the Dyson V11 Stick Vacuum that was discounted $130 yet labeled "out of stock" over the weekend. I was frustrated after all the research I had done to make this purchasing decision and went into my local Costco store attempting to pick one up on sale. However, mgmt staff informed me that the store has different sale items than the Costco website and they could not honor the discount even though it was listed as "out of stock" online. Thankfully I phoned, I was in luck by having reached customer service staff by the name of Corine. She was extremely professional, helpful and courteous. We were on the phone for well over a half hour as the Costco computer systems yesterday were experiencing difficulties. Corine was patient and thorough with my order process from start to finish helping me with assisrance needed to get my vacuum purchased for the price offered online. With the illness that I have and the allergies that I experience this vacuum is going to be a great help in my home on a daily basis. Thank you to Corine and Costco! read more

From gigantic chickens and massive pizzas and luxurious cakes and pastries to clothes,gadgets,electrical items there is nothing these guys don't offer. also if anything breaks,fails or is less than satisfying they offer a full refund-what a joy! I urge you all to join! Sells all sorts of good, from foods to non-foods and their branded meats, fish and baked goods is outstanding - and cheap. Really cheap electronics which are all covered by both a manufactures warrenty and Costco's own guarantee too. Really cheap for glasses / contact lenses, car tyres and the restaurant is dirt cheap too. There can be long queues when paying, but that's mainly because everyone is buying so much! read more

Great place to buy in bulk if you can get a card. We buy alot of meat and fish to freeze and is great for partys bbqs etc. Only issue is it can get really busy and things on special offer run out fast read more

My first Costco order online is not going well. Two Michelin tyres ordered and paid for 2/7/2016. Offered fitting date for 6/7/2016, I allowed extra day, so opted for 7/7/2016. On 6th checked the tracking site which had quantity as 3 but I have ordered and paid for 2. So phoned Costco help/complaints who said, no worry, you will only get 2 delivered and by the way, they have them at your Watford Depo. Went to Watford Depo, quess what, they do not have them. They do not know where the Tyres are. Still waiting for delivery and a phone call. DO NOT USE. 8/7/2016 UPDATE. Tyres delivered to Depo. New fitting date made. Could be OK. read more

My dad has a Costco card so I tag along with him if I need anything. These days I don't buy much there as I have no place to store huge boxes of washing poweder or bulk bought bottles of coke or whatever. Costco in Watford is huge and sells everything from clothes and shoes to electricals, books, wine and of course mostly food. I actually think with the electrical goods and the books etc you can find these cheaper if you shop around, especially if you buy online. The food can be good value though but it depends what you buy. Some of their meat is very good but I would avoid the chicken breasts - huge but tasteless and go off quite quickly. The trays of muffins and danish pastries however - loads for about £3 are fantastic to bring to the office or to share with friends. They freeze well too if you have the space in the freezer. The staff I have found on the checkout to be friendly enough but not overley helpful and there is never anyone around to help you lift heavy stuff. It is well worth a look though if you know someone with a card or want to get one yourself as there are some good value items available. read more
