Build a bear... now, I know you are wondering, what do they do there? If only they'd give some sort…read moreof hint, a clue even as to what might happen, what might be on offer when you walk through the doors. I had no idea. Luckily I have a well informed four and a half year old who had a very good idea of what might happen and was only too glad to fill me in on the details... in exchange for permitting him to go through the process of getting a bear er.. built. To an adult it all looks a bit contrived.... A cynical person sees all the accessories and extras that are on offer, knows that the process doesn't just involve picking up a suitable/desirable cover/empty bear, getting it stuffed, putting in a heart (a free cloth one or a 6Euro 'beating' one), sewing it up and paying the nice girl at the desk. A child sees it differently, they see: 1. A huge choice of new best friends, just waiting to be filled and named and personalised 2. A chance to actually help in stuffing their own teddy, thereby making it that bit more special 3. An opportunity to put in the teddy's heart before the closing surgery 4. A chance to give the new teddy a big hug to see if it is too hard/too soft.. and have it adjusted accordingly 5. Getting to help make and print the teddy's birth cert 6. The possibility of getting clothes and shoes and all manner of extras for the new best friend And yes, for the most part, they are absolutely correct; my lad loved the whole process and the guys in the shop do their best to make a big deal of each child and their new teddy. They also try to constantly up-sell the extras which is a bit annoying but completely understandable. My lad wasn't getting extras and while not overly happy about this at first, he was made up and extras forgotten about when he saw that the bear came in a cardboard box, shaped like a house that he could colour in... he has spent the last 4 days personalising it. For a cost of 21Euro it is not bad value, sure these aint Steiff Bears, but not bad quality and the kids enjoy the process. So, yeah, I was very sceptical about the whole thing when we went in but actually it was a lovely experience and one I am keen to repeat with one of my many Goddaughters very soon!

I was told on Wednesday the 3rd of April to come back to the store because I was given the wrong set of hair extensions than the ones I had thought I was buying . After being told on Wednesday the 3rd by a very friendly foreign man that once I had the extensions in there originally packaging and box that he could find something to suit my hair in time for my hens night. He said the mix up was an easy mistake and there was no need to worry. So I entered the store today as that sales man had told me he worked on Wednesday's and I wanted to deal with him again, he was lovely the last time. He was speaking with another customer so I spoke to the women behind the counter who I later learned is the store manager. She was blatantly rude, started off by telling me I was wrong, that there is no way she can exchange them. I felt like she was looking down in me the whole way through our conversation. Then when the sales man was finished with his client he joined us, and he explained to the manager that he had previously spoken with me and then she turned from rude to spiteful. She started speaking her own tongue with the sales man, spitting words at him while pointing her finger and furrowing her brow at me. She was very disrespectful and belittling. The sales man then changed his tone and posture when speaking to me, and told me he could no longer help. I am still in shock by the managers utter lack of hospitality and her unmannerly nature. I have been a customer atleast once a month for the past three years, whether I'm buying fake nails, eyelashes, wigs or extensions. I have even come to know most of the girls, and get along with them all. But after that experience, I will never return to the dundrum store again. I'm now stuck with heavy extensions that don't fit my head, and there not even the original set I wanted. Quite frankly I'm upset, disappointed and frustrated as I won't have any extensions for my hens weekend. But the most dissatisfing thing is that a shop I loved to escape to, to treat myself is now ruined because of one offensively impolite store manager.

Doesn't appeal to me at all, but it was quite busy when I popped my head in. Well, maybe not that busy, but the staff at least didn't have time to say hello. Maybe they saw immediately that I would not buy anything, but a "hello, can I help you?" is still always appreciated. Really cheap-looking stuff for steep prices. That just isn't my cup of tea.

That understood I suppose a lot can be said for shops wishing to maintain an element of consistency so not to unsteady the shopper. It is not surprising that their target audience adheres to this steadiness and predictability, 'predictability' being a facet of the clothes the store sells as well as its overall layout. Nothing ever changes, even with the seasons the collection is predominantly made up of black and grey office-wear, uninspiring tunics and fitted dresses deficient in any colour or pioneering style. It's quite funny how it can be so reliably un-daring and lackluster yet still draw a large following. These type of clothes appeal to young professionals who require unexciting yet professional looking clothes for their humdrum clerical jobs who do not have enough money nor the caliber of career to authenticate forking out on designers. Interestingly a lot of young girls also shop here. At this time in their life it's probable that the majority of these young girls have yet to come to ascertain what their own sense of style is and reach a level of development that sees them venture beyond the inexorability of the high street and to more innovative and alternative shops, hence them opting for such humdrum offerings as Warehouse for a short time because they don't know any better at this amateurish stage. The accessories range does little to cheer up the unexciting clothes range with thin-laced scarves, tacky metallic plated belts and black 'embellished' scarves - the 'embellishment' referring to a few sequins sewn on in an erratic fashion, hardly embellished, not even subtly understated, but just hogwash.
