We started with the asparagus app. I thought the breading was too thick but my wife liked it. I had a fish stew. It was tomato based and included mussels, shrimp, and fish. The fish were all well cooked and the dish was tasty. My wife had the salmon and béarnaise. The salmon had been hammered and was dry and tough and the béarnaise was thick and separated. Cote did notice that my wife ate almost nothing of her main and comped dessert. Dessert was a strawberry-rhubarb mess. This was very tasty, I took the photo after we were done. read more

Cote's dinner selection was amazing with a perfect mix of higher end meals and comfort food. The desserts were tasty without being too rich. We came for breakfast today and it was perfect! I had the eggs Benedict Florentine and my husband had the fully cooked breakfast special that includes a juice and a hot drink for about 10.95gbp. Both meals were delicious! My eggs Benedict were soft and delicate and the sautéed spinach added the most excellent savory flavor! We also had a mocha and a cafe creme. The mocha was far superior to the cafe creme. Very friendly staff and cozy interior. Great location...perfect way to start a day of sightseeing! read more

Even though this is considered a "chain" it was an amazing meal. We got there before 7om and had there 3 courses for 14 pounds . My appetizer was langoustines popcorn style with a delicious sauce. My friend had the artichoke hearts to die for. For the entrees I had the most delicious sea bass with mash and fennel salad . My friend had a really tasty steak frites . Then the deserts ! During our visit to Edinburgh we had breakfast twice at Cote Brasserie. I had the Crepe Complete both times because it was so delicious. Please do not miss Côte while in Edinburgh. The food was amazing and the staff charming. There with a girlfriend and we can not say enough good things. Started with flatbread and cheese (simplified description), then the risotto and the veal, and DO NOT FORGET the Creme Caramel. Suggested wine selections were fantastic. obviously I haven't been to every breakfast place in the UK but I'd imagine it's hard to beat the service and value at Cote. I've been to many with fancy schmancy ingredients and etc but the service and food you get at Cote for 10 freakin pounds BLOWS me away. also I had no clue till later it was a chain but I dont get that feel at all! you can get a few different breakfasts include a fill e flush breakfast PLUS hot drink, a juice, and filtered water all for €10. however what blows me away is the level of service at the various locations ive been to. its very applicated but approachable. j truly feel the experience and food allow it to charge 1.5x more in my opinion. you may think it's questionable food for that price but it's actually legit. they put chives in the eggs and even the butter is SOFT not frozen. also I get a croissant now and they warm it up which is like crack. it's so good by itself. i love this place and could only imagine a place like the four seasons London could beat but overall value I doubt it can be beat. Okay so this is part of a chain but it at least has a bit of style about it, as well as providing good quality French food with good service. The fact that its three courses for £13.95 menu lasts until 19:00 also makes it worth a visit after work without having to rush to get in before 17:00. read more

Staying on Thistle street and being a total Francophile , we were thrilled to see 4 french restaurants within 1 block. We have now tried two, the others being booked. You can guess from this review that Cote was one of them. I am completely genuine when I say it is one of the best meals I have had. We came two nights in a row. Me: French onion soup. -perfect ; salmon - absolutely perfect (try cooking salmon and avoiding it being completely dry); order of french fries shared with husband - perfect Husband: French onion soup; yesterday - linguini with seafood - perfect consistency ; today - prime rib no bone (perfect). His birthday, so we got crème brule - perfect. Need I say more? I am not sure we can stay away tomorrow - it is that good. Oh, by the way, the service is impeccable. After settling in to our AirBnB on Thistle Street, my wife & I started strolling the neighborhood for a place to eat an early-ish dinner on Saturday night when we came across This restaurant. It was not yet busy, which worked for us since we had no reservations. We were greeted promptly and taken to a table towards the rear of the restaurant. The list of wines revealed nothing that we were familiar with, so our waiter suggested a bottle of Viognier that we took. It was a good wine for us...not too dry. We also ordered bread & butter. The bread was a warm, soft sourdough that was excellent. My wife ordered the chicken with garlic butter and a side of creamed spinach. I had some of the chicken and found it to be quite tasty even without the garlic butter, which added a very good complimentary taste. The creamed spinach was quite different with a bit of Pernod added (if I remember correctly). It was very unique. I had the fish parmentier. It was very good, although the portion seemed to be on the small side. The dish had been baked in the oven to finish it giving the potatoes a nice golden color that was appealing. We had the crepe grand marnier for dessert. It was very good. Our waiter lit the grand marnier when he served it, which was a neat presentation. Overall, the service was good. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing, which enabled us to have some good long conversations. The ambiance was welcoming...soft music in the background, and not too loud. When we left the restaurant, it was very crowded and much louder, but not to the point where we had to shout to hear each other. read more

This would be my third visit to this branch of Cote and, by far and away, the most disappointing. The place, decor and food were top notch as on previous visits. However, on this occasion, the service was a complete letdown. Our server seemed to have very little interest in attending to us. When our main courses arrived, she appeared as we were cleaning our plates, to ask if our food was "ok". We had been trying to hunt her down to order another glass of wine to go with our meal. She then handed us dessert menus, we chose and then she did not return! I eventually went to the front and requested the bill, mentioning that we would have a dessert on our next visit.....totally oblivious to our requests. As I said, everything else was superb but this lassie really did spoil our whole experience. Will I give this restaurant another try? This is a cute little chain place. I had the special August menu consisting cod goujons (croquets), steak frites and a peach crumble dessert. The starter was pretty much tasteless. The steak was thin and tough. I finished only half of it. The fries were very good. Service was a bit slow and confused. The server didn't notice, or didn't care that I ate only half of the steak. He forgot to serve the dessert. By the time we got his attention, we had to leave. It may have been fantastic, but I'll never know.
