Clicking on the apartments on the image map would bring up the floor plan of each apartment. Adal not only created the web app per our specifications, he created a gorgeous design and added additional productivity features that would make navigation simpler for our Sales staff. One such feature was adding navigation buttons on the lower right or left hand corner depending on where the Sales Counselor was standing (we project on a 60-inch screen while demoing to prospects). I hired Adal to do some SEO work for me based on the many positive reviews here...it has been a very disappointing experience. It makes me curious about the legitimacy of the other reviews for him. They do not represent the experience I had with him at all. This is the story: I hired Adal to help me optimize the visibility of my website. The first project was for a natural search. He charged me $2,000. That seemed like a lot, but he lead me to believe that he would get great results. We talked about maximizing the most valuable keywords that related to my business. He made a list of 1st and 2nd tier keywords. I assumed he would work on the first tier keywords. He did not. instead he focused all his energy on one obscure keyword out of list #2. Yes, he raised my visibility for that keyword, but it was rarely used by consumers. He still wanted full payment of 2K. I had already paid 1K and that was far too much for what he had accomplished. Before I realized that something was going wrong, I started another project with him. That project was to optimize my visibility on my Google Adwords account. It was already working well, but I desired a little more visibility. I had assumed, he would fine tune the keywords in my Adwords campaign. Though, he went off on an obscure tangent again. He wanted to funnel all of my ad money towards a large banner ad that would follow people around once they visited my site. I didn't see the value in that, but he had already spent several hours on the project and would be billing me for those. The cost of the Adwords Campaign was $1600. The kicker was, I ended up calling Google myself. They were able to walk me through the adjustments I needed to make in an hour. At that point, I expressed my unhappiness with his work. He didn't attempt to make anything right. He just said that I didn't appreciate his work. Therefore, there was no point in continuing. I was so surprised by his lack of accountability. I run my own business. it is very successful. I don't think I've ever let a client walk away feeling like they didn't get what they paid for. It's really bad business. While I don't doubt that he spent many hours working on my project, there was a ridiculously poor result. I am a wardrobe stylist. This would be like me taking payment for a 20-hr job to build a client's wardrobe and coming back to them with only one dress. I had put all my faith in Adal to handle this for me because I was intimidated by the process. Adal did not have my best interest in mind, but rather was most interested in billing for more time to increase his profits. This has been a very disappointing experience. Anyone who has and/or is currently operating their own start-up venture will tell you, getting started can be overwhelming and quite intimidating. It's easy to get lost in the myriad of considerations, e.g. media, strategy, finance, distribution. But it seems as though these days the most critical component to your business' survival is actually your presence on the web. When I approached Adal about my magazine, he was genuinely interested in understanding the purpose and content of what we are trying to convey to our readers. Adal was sophisticated in his line of questioning, and poignant in his explanations. He communicated clearly all the necessary steps that would take place during the development process, and even generously offered tips that he felt were most accommodating for our target audience. To be honest, I was sold on Adal's reviews alone, but after meeting him in person, I actually felt a little more structured and the task of getting the magazine site up and running just felt less daunting. The whole development process was exactly as he described in the initial consultation, and the dialog was very open and clear. Adal was soo organized about revisions, timelines, etc. I always felt at ease. He took all my feedback into consideration and offered some amazing theme options for a proper magazine! It's silly now to think that I even toyed with the idea of creating a website on my own, spending time and money on classes, trying to learn programming, etc. It's just easier to put the project in the hands of a wordpress expert like Adal, and have him build something you can drive on your own. I was given the task of finding a web designer for my company. Of course, I immediately went onto Yelp to find candidates. Anyone with 4+ stars, I looked at their previous projects to narrow the list down and ended up reaching out to about 10 designers. My experience was vastly different from designer to designer. I had people asking me simple questions about our product that they could've easily looked up themselves or was already outlined in my original inquiry, asking me about my budget before asking about ANYTHING else, and I even had a designer tell me that if I wanted a quote, I need to complete an RFP online, not email them directly. Out of all of the web designers, Adal was definitely the most thorough & enthusiastic about the project and the only one that suggested that he come see me in person for our initial consultation. In this digital world and in his industry, I appreciated that he took the time to do this. He wanted to have a dialogue about our goals, see the product and discuss ideas. He did his homework on our product before this meeting also, which made our conversation easier. He had good questions that showed that he was really trying to understand and work towards our goal. He was honest from the beginning too and let me know that if we're looking for the cheapest option, he may not be it but if we're looking for thorough work, he'll deliver, which I appreciated. After this initial meeting, he followed up several times (but not in an annoying way, if you know what I mean) and whenever I had questions, he responded very quickly, even when he was out of office and on vacation. He never made me feel like I was bothering him or make me feel like he was doing me a favor if I booked him (which many of the designers did). After all of that hard work, I do have to mention that unfortunately, due to our company changing directions, we ended up not hiring Adal (or any of the other designers at this point). But the "buying process" alone was by far the best from my experience and thought it was worth a review. read more
