This is truly an authentic Italian restaurant. Run by Lino and his wife, which are there every single day. This couple does an amazing job of including authentic and gluten-free Italian food options. The pasta is decolora and fresh... and the service is a highlight!! They have postcards from so many different families around the world which I think really speaks to the personal and authentic touch of Lino! Went here on our last night in London. It was across the street from our hotel. Small cozy space and the owner is very engaging with his patrons. Was very pleased with the olive salad that was extremely fresh. I had the puttanesca. It was very delicious. Great place and great meal. read more

We came to check this place out specifically since they offer such an extensive gluten free menu. The owner has been GF for 35 years and cooks everything here from scratch. He said it's only him and his son that take care of the cooking to make sure everything is done right. The place is relatively casual and they have a lot more tables than I expected for the size of the entrance. They even have space upstairs for overflow or for private events. We came here 2 nights and saw the same servers- everyone seems to work together to help all the tables & everyone was nice. The first night here I had the GF tagliatelle frutti di mare. I have never eaten octopus and there were a lot of baby octopus in the dish that I did not eat but at least they were easy to pick out. It also came with shrimp, clams, and calamari. Good homemade pasta sauce & noodles! The second night here I had the GF margarita pizza. Again good sauce- may have enjoyed more toppings for more flavor but I really enjoyed the crust especially for being gluten free! My favorite thing here had to be the GF bread. It had a little sweetness to it and came out hot and fresh. I wish I could make this at home but probably good I don't have the recipe because I would be eating way too much bread. read more

We came at 8 PM, and we were so tired and hungry. The menu has many gluten free options. The restaurant is family run, and one of the owners came around to chat, find out where each diner was from, and it was evident that the restaurant is a labor of love. Someone came around with bread, and there were excellent olives marinated in oil with other vegetables at the table. We got pizza, grilled salmon, lasagna, and three desserts. Everything was so good. *** AVOID *** Tourist Scammers! *** feeling hunrgy after a long day touring the Roman Baths and The Ancient stonehedge is UK...we wandered off searching for a decent place to eat at 10pm at night... found this place while going to a chicken place...lol. we settled in and immediately i hear italian being spoken inside the restaurant. a good sign since it is being patronized by italian people inside. we quickly ordered some comfort food, spaghetti carbonara with bacon and cheese, cotto( ham) pizza, and chicken risotto with tomato sauce! while waiting for food, the servers and owner came and said hi and made you feel at ease. 30secs later, the servers brings a basket full of sliced bread and butter and asks you: "you want some bread?" take some!! now as a normal italian place does, table bread and butter is always free. i've been to many italian places even in dear Italy and bread is always free. we all took 1 piece each and butter. ( 4 of us) when the bill came, were were charged $1 pound /pax totalling $4 pounds. imagine for 1 sliced stale and cold and yucky pc of baguette. i complained to the manager who said.."oh, its on the menu we always charge!" then i said, no one told us and when the server brought the bread she never said if we take its an extra charge per person. she even justified it as its $1pound per person all you can eat bread!" im like, but i just took 1 slice and its not even good! all manager said was...thats the way it is. anyhow, i said its no use arguing over $4 pounds. if thats the way you guys do business then thats it. you are cheating your customers and specially us coz we are tourists. i say everywhere i go to italian place, bread is always free, even at high end places. she just shrugged us off! they even proudly displayed the YELP sticker on their window. what a shame!! another trick, so we ordered the bacon carbonara, and guess what topping they placed on the pasta...ham!! i said why ham the menu said bacon! the server insisted it was bacon! so again, another cost cutting and dark side tricks they are using. lastly, the risotto was another big joke! they used white rice and just simmered it down to become sauce/soupy like the texture of risotto! only good thing was the most the pizza. my taste. uds and experience dont lie! but the service and scamming that they are running with the bread service, pasta, and God knows what else is shameful. they should take the Yelp sticker out!! We liked it so much - we tried it out twice the week we stayed in London. They bring spicy olives and bread to the table when you sit down. The house wine (red) is absolutely a great choice. We had the carbonara pasta the first time and the bolognese the second time. Very generous portions and it came nice and hot. They offered shredded parmesan for the meal. We have made multiple stops to Cotto over the years. We love this hidden gem! Fair priced, but high quality food. Tonight we enjoyed two glasses of house wine, a bottle of still water, one bowl of pasta e fagoli, and order of tortellini and an order of spaghetti bolognese, we finished the night off with a piece of tiramisu; our total with service charge was £52. The soup was excellent, priced around £6 a bowl, the portion size was generous. A delicious broth with different types of beans and a lovely amount of pasta. The spaghetti was a good portion size as well, good flavor, but I would've appreciated a little more meat in the bolognese sauce. The tortellini was fantastic!! The cream sauce had a few layers of flavor that put the dish on the next level. I'm typically not a huge prosciutto gal, but this was excellent. The star of our meal was the tiramisu. A fair sized slice, £5 a piece, we shared one and it was perfect. Excellent flavor without being overbearing. Cotto is one of my all-time favorite restaurants on either side of the pond. Almost the entire menu can be made gluten-free, so there are SO MANY choices, including pizza, pasta, etc. Not only that, they really understand that GF/coeliac/celiac is not a fad and they go to great lengths to keep everything safe and separate (which is not always something you get at Italian chain restaurants). The place is so welcoming, especially if you are part of the gluten-free tribe. I've had some of the most memorable meals ever here mostly because of the kindness and warmth of the host/owner, Lino. There are garlicky olives to get you started, then bread & butter. I've had the eggplant parm (an appetizer but big enough for a meal), spaghetti bolognese, and gnocchi, all of which were stupendous and all of which are made in-house. The desserts make me weep - gluten free tira misu, panna cotta, or my new true love, the tartufo limoncello, which I will see in my dreams until I come back to London again. If you are gluten free and expecting an amazing feast, please know the following: all of the menu comes gluten free optional, all of the gluten free pastas are corn based- to me, hard to digest.
