I had a very disappointing experience working with this law office during my home buying process. Unfortunately, the level of service did not meet the standard I expect from an attorney representing a client in a real estate transaction. Communication was consistently slow. Emails often took far too long to receive responses, and throughout the process it felt like things were moving at their pace rather than with any urgency on my behalf. As a client, that left me feeling uncomfortable and unsupported during an already stressful process. Ultimately, the transaction did not move forward, and when it came time to address the return of my security deposit, I was especially disappointed. I did not feel that the firm advocated for me at all. I was essentially told to pursue the matter in small claims court and informed that no further assistance would be provided unless I paid additional fees. At that point, it felt less like legal representation and more like I was on my own. Overall, I did not feel represented, protected, or prioritized. Between the lack of timely communication, the slow handling of matters, and the absence of advocacy when it mattered most, I cannot recommend this firm. This is the most evil law firm in the area and they employ the most evil people in the area. The lies they've responded with on my name are disgusting! You know why they haven't sued me for accusing them of malpractice? Because they committed malpractice and the main attorney that worked for me also committed felonies that he should have been disbarred over like delaying my case for lucre for the benefit of the firm. He also lied about payment norms from the start and manipulated me on a laundry list of medications to sign a bad contract. I would have fired them down the road when I was sober enough to realize I got into a horrifically bad deal, but I couldn't find an attorney to go after them. No attorney in the area is willing to challenge them on malpractice, it's a broken system and they bank on nobody will force them to follow the law. I believed his lies about payment norms because I was on a laundry list of medications that would have made it illegal for me to testify or sign a contract, but they honored it for some reason because it benefited them solely. I was in severe pain only awake 1-2 hours a day and not sober because of the medications I was on and they robbed/manipulated me. My attorney was also evil enough to lie about the story of events that I told him I experienced. He tried painting me in more blame so I'd feel obligated to take the settlement that only benefited this firm! I believe this is a typical strategy used by this firm to coerce victims into settlements that aren't beneficial to them. My attorney was literally showing me I did not have an adequate defense/team on my side because they were lying to benefit themselves. It was absolutely disgusting having someone I paid, try to tell me I knew the driver was drunk. I never once said that and I did not know that! I don't know how you people sleep at night, I will never get over what you did to me. Never!!!! They love to throw the positive review I wrote in my face, but like to neglect mentioning that was after I was bribed about 10,000 dollars to sign it, plus given additional free legal services that was never completed for me. I only wrote that positive review in hopes that the remaining work I had would be handled appropriately, it was not. I'm betting majority of your positive reviews are related to what I just said. It was so cold and calculated of this firm to screenshot my review after the fact, you knew then I was angry and tried to cover it up. I would have never written a review or even though of it, if I wasn't begged to do it directly after receiving a decent sized financial bride. What I experienced was malpractice and I got robbed insanely hard. It's also absolutely disgusting that that attorneys malpractice got me a negative judgment from a judge and this firm thinks it's acceptable to provide me with no form of compensation for something I had a contract with them to complete. I could have bought a decent house for the money you stole from me? I don't see how you think it's justified to take that kind of money from people. That money was literally meant for me! You argued the entire portion was for me! It's messed up you were evil enough to not cap the 1/3 you stole. You only got 1/3 because you lied from the start and never would admit it was possible to pay only for the work that was done. Multiple people deserve to be in prison over my experience with this company. Everything they ever say is nothing but lies. The head attorney here is the most evil person I've ever encountered, I would give that to the attorney I had but he was special Ed (for an attorney) and thought way too highly of himself. It's amazing how much more I knew than he did in a ton of areas. The head attorney wanted to give him credit for how my case was approached in regards to 1 specific piece, not realizing I was the one who gave him the suggestion. He had no clue. I need an attorney for real estate matters and general matters, I have been looking for one since before the pandemic. I am a pre-senior and wanted to relocate out of NYS since June 2023 by selling my garden residential/commercial property but being delayed by an incompetent realtor. So far, I cannot find an attorney in my area of Otsego County, NY as the ones in Otsego County just have their voicemail on and do not return calls, or they are not in business anymore, or they are uncaring. I called Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP in Bainbridge, NY, they have on their website that they handle Otsego County, NY. They were not helpful at all, I spoke with a female real estate attorney, and she had "It is not my job attitude" and did not recommend a Trusts and Estate lawyer. She said I was out of their area. The ABA needs to send attorneys to some areas of Upstate, NY because the ones here do not take all the cases and do not care at all, some cannot do the work because they suffer from botched neck operations and such. Very depressing and annoying, and very scary. read more

This past winter I was hit by a car while I was trying to cross the road at the cross walk and had a severely broken ankle. I was referencing to this establishment by some friends. I am 100% pleased with their work. The people who took on my case were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and unlike the review of the other person here, I would say was NOT out to simply make money. they helped my navigate insurance, temporary unemployment and disability, explaining the whole process to me with phone calls and emails (cause I couldn't make it to their place directly cause of my injury) which were very helpful...and if I didn't understand something I could ask them for clarification and I did not ever feel like I was bugging them. They often checked in on me just to see how my recovery was and if I needed any help with anything. They have really good standing with the insurance companies so it was easy for them to get me the best settlement I could have gotten , in a very short amount of time (2ish months) and it the absolute max amount I could have gotten. All of that process was done quickly without any stress or much work on my part. It was a pleasure (given the circumstances) getting to be guided ,helped, and supported by this company. I would recommend Keith Gorgos and Robert Jones in a heartbeat to anyone who may need their services. The only stressful part I had to deal with in the 3-4 month long recovery process (and still going) was the recovery itself. read more

I had called to request a free initial consultation. I was disappointed and shocked by a few things. First, I was disappointed that the consultation was not clear nor definitive in resolution, and it left me thinking this was not the right place to seek help. I was shocked to get billed for the "free consultation". Although disappointed, I called to get resolution to the bill. I was severely disappointed that Kim, the admin who was managing the attorney consultation appointment setting, was very rude and speaking as if I had not paid attention in our initial discovery call. I know the Binghamton area has a troubled economy, and has been for decades. That doesn't justify such aggressive measures to squeeze money out of people. I will pay the fee to be done with them, but I caution anyone reading this, to be prepared for an experience like this. It became clear in this last call, that the only thing important to this firm was getting a few bucks out of me. Congratulations, you burned me. I had coughlin and gerhart for social security disability and was quite disappointed by their lawyer Scot Miller. We didn't meet to go over things until just before trial. When we hired Scot Miller he said he would come to us but later insisted that we drive to Binghamton. I spent three days with neck pain as a result. I was concerned about the medical records anyway because they were so messed up from careless doctors but Scot blew it off. He said everybody had bad medical. I never saw my record until after the hearing. Thanks for nothing Scot. Thanks for showing up late in a bad suit with your mind somewhere else. (He went out of town right after the hearing). The firm was not responsive to my concerns. I expected Scot Miller to build a case. I felt like he was on the other side at hearing. I did find out that scot worked for the workers comp insurer I fought and won against prior to this. I finally got a diagnosis, but after the hearing. Scot was too lame to get it held open until I saw the rehabilitation specialist two weeks later. That was my one shot at receiving the disability I paid in to while working 32 years. Thanks for nothing Coughlin and gerhart. Thanks for nothing Scot Miller. If there is even a chance of appeal I will hire a competent lawyer this time. I wouldn't hire this firm or Scot Miller to defend me against anything unless I wanted to lose. Scot lost. Nothing has changed, I still cannot work. I'm basically screwed because I hired the wrong lawyer. If you want a lawyer on your case and on your side go somewhere else. read more
