The view was beautiful looking out at the lake. During my stay I had the pickerel cheek appetizer which was phenomenal. I've attached a picture of it. I also had for lunch the fish and chips which is local pickerel battered and cooked to perfection. Another evening I tried the "some like it hot" which is a fettuccine pasta dish with a little bit of heat/spice, It was really good. Highly recommend the cashew and cranberry salad. The potato was good but it could have been warmer. It was a good burger. The bun was grilled in what tasted like garlic butter and was small and soft, which I like. The patty was tasty. Gord is more adventurous than I am and ordered panned fried pickerel, apparently freshly caught in Lake Winnipeg. There was a lot of fish. He liked it and said it was delicious. It's a lovely spot to have lunch. There were a lot of flies, though, that got worse when our food arrived. Isabelle was our server. She was friendly and chatty and took good care of us.

They are sitting where it used to be vast parking spots for Chapters. I suppose that these spots are no longer needed. Yesterday, I visited Chapters and the Plaza at Polo Park with Winners, HomeSense, and Urban Behavior. All four stores do not have public washrooms. Bummer. I left the hotel at 10:45 am. It was now close to 3 pm. My bladder needed attention. I also felt like a strawberry sundae. I ventured into this BK. It was bright and clean inside the eatery. The washrooms were off to the right. There were a couple of single stalls. Perfect! The one that I used was clean. You need to press the large square button to lock the door. When you are ready to exit, you turn the handle to exit. I looked at the menu. I saw milkshakes. I didn't see sundaes listed. I got a helpful young woman at the counter. I asked if she had any sundaes. She did. She listed all the flavours. I went with strawberry, which is my favourite. I tapped my debit card to pay. Done! She went ahead and made me my sundae. She handed it to me, along with a napkin and wooden spoon. I thanked her and headed to my rental car to enjoy it. It was -21°C outside. I felt like a sundae. Some habits don't change over the years. The strawberry sundae hit the spot. I got the perfect combination of strawberry chunks and sauce with the vanilla soft serve. I was happy. I am thankful that this place had a washroom and my strawberry sundae. Then we have the service. Well, the 3 east Indian guys that were arguing about something chose to close up the window and not serve anyone for close to 29 minutes. The food was dry and hard. Fries were dry and hard and cold.. Chicken burgers are not to be deep fried until they are half burned. Loaded means more than one piece of lettuce, with mayo and the rest, and should have a melted piece of cheese on it. A hot dog should be cooked and on a bun that isn't moldy and dry. The works means more than just a hot dog on a bun. Then there are the battered mushrooms. Very very small and very very greasy. We had received 11 tiny mushrooms for 6.50. In years past, this was a great place at which to eat and hang out. Now, it seems to be an excuse to have a business and try to make as much money as possible on bad food, bad service, and bad work ethics. We weren't impressed. We have many friends who live, and visit Winnipeg Beach, Matlock, and Gimli. We won't be recommending this place to any of them. We will definitely not be back either.
