I brought my 1995 Chevrolet Silverado truck into the service department at Country Chevrolet because it was overheating when I was driving it. I didn't have an appointment so I didn't exect them to fix it that day, but it has been 5 days and it still isn't repaired. I told the service writer that I thought it was the thermostat causing the problem but that I did want him to check the whole cooling system and make sure that it was working correctly. He said he would be able to look at it the next day and he would call me with an estimate of the needed repairs. After 3 days I still hadn't heard back from Country Chevrolet so I went back in to check on the truck. The service writer was working alone when I got there and I must have stood there for 10 minutes before anyone noticed me. He sent me to the service manager's office and the manager pulled out a several page report of what they had found wrong with my truck. He proceded to read down the whole list of parts that were worn and parts that looked old and parts that GM recommended that I replace at 30,000 miles. After all that, he told me the estimate to get my truck to stop overheating would be close to $850 U.S. Dollars!!! For an 18 year old truck? lol I stood there in disbelief for a minute from the sticker shock...and I asked him what it would cost to replace the part that was leaking, and the thermostat and that brought the bill down to $350 U.S. Dollars. I should have taken the truck out of there, but I decided to just let them fix it since it was there. Now I know car dealers get a bad rap for overcharging people and selling you parts that you really can do without, but for some reason, I thought the good ol' boys at Country Chevrolet would be different. But I was wrong. They tryed to sell me a ton of stuff that I will be able to live without...and to think, I just asked them to check the cooling system....and told them what I thought was wrong with the truck! I was right about the thermostat, and wrong about Country Chevrolet. I know that service writers and service managers make commission on the parts that they sell. That is why they try to sell us those extra parts....so they can make more money. I just need to find an honest mechanic to work on my cars and trucks so that I won't have to be a victim of shady businesses like Country Chevrolet. They have gotten my last dollar. read more

Drove 30 miles to bring my 2013 Chevy here after taking it to two other places, one of which was another dealer. My first diagnosis with a dealer seemed nonchalant and there was just something that told me that I needed a 2nd opinion. My 2nd opinion was more comprehensive, identifying a potentially more drastic issue plus another big issue, of which it was recommended that I call GM headquarters for financial assistance because I only had 87K miles and my vehicle was well maintained. Also, to get GM assistance, I had to take it back to a certified dealer and I just didn't feel comfortable going back to the first dealer. Upon my arrival at Country Chevrolet, my first surprise, there was no diagnosis fee. I've been to places where the diagnosis fee is applied to the repair, but never a flat fee. My second surprise was that they had a diagnosis within 1.5 hours for three pretty big issues, of which one matched the other dealer, another matched the second opinion, and the third was for a special repair that GM had released 2 years before, but had expired. Even though I understand the mechanics of my vehicle, there's still a lot I don't know and the Service Rep took the time to explain what was identified with all the issues. Also, knowing my concern over the quality of GM vehicles, the Service Rep contacted GM for assistance. The quote for these three repairs resulted in only $300 more than the initial quote from the first dealer for one repair. Then, during the repair process, two other issues were identified that could only be found as they started their work. While the price did increase, the additional costs were reasonable; I wasn't nickeled & dimed for labor. A few days later, I returned to Country Chevrolet with an intermittent battery service error. My gut told me something was loose. They got me in the same day I called, pulled my car in immediately, checked all the cables and tightened, and I was back on the road 15 minutes later, all free of charge; my gut was right. While I'm not happy with the hefty price tag (GM's fault), I'm pleased with the service received and that everything is fixed. read more

Like the first review, Country Chevrolet has gotten my last dollar. I took my vehicle there today for an oil change and tire rotation. I walked out $151 later! Yes, you read that correctly, $151! The service writer recommended I purchase a cabin filter and an air filter. He said that my total bill, including my oil change and tire rotation, would be around $101. I thought that was expensive, but I was on another call at the time so I told him to go ahead. That part was my mistake, and I take responsibility. I should've taken the time to get clarification and I didn't. The point is, like the first review written, I thought the good ol' boys at Country Chevrolet would be different than the big city guys. I didn't think that they would be guilty of trying to sell me things that I could do without. They charged $13.00 to replace the filter. I watched them, it took them a total of 60 seconds to change the cabin filter. Let's see...that is $780/hour labor. Not too shabby, eh? It took them another 60 seconds to change the air filter, for which I was charged another $13 - wish I could make $780/hour. Guess I must be in the wrong business. I returned to the dealership to complain about my bill. I had been overcharged by $18, which I had questioned when I was checking out with their cashier initially. She assured me that the billing was correct and it wasn't. I respectfully complained to the service writer about my bill. He had the nerve to tell me that their management had reviewed their charges and determined "that they were not making enough money." Yes, he said those words exactly. Well, Country Chevrolet, you stung me once but you will NEVER get me again, and I will make sure that I tell everyone I know about how overpriced Country Chevrolet is. read more

I would strongly recommend Country Chevrolet/Buick in North Vernon. I did a plethora of research online and in person prior to purchasing my 2013 Buick Regal. This was the ONLY dealership that communicated with me in a non-biased manner based on my gender/age, answered my many questions in a straight forward, effective, and efficient manner, offered great prices and everyone was pleasant - not pressuring. They went above and beyond in offering great customer service. I drove from Indianapolis to North Vernon and the technician knew I had a few questions so he stayed later than usual, putting his own life on hold, to ensure I had the information I required. He and another staff member took time to introduce me to some of the less obvious fun bells and whistles in my fabulous new ride. I will certainly be a return customer. read more

I am definitely another unhappy customer country Chevrolet. They charged me $2,500 for repairs to my 96 Chevy diesel. The repairs were done by trial and error method. I really thought that a dealership would be able to diagnose the problem correctly the first time and do the repairs in a timely manner. They obviously do not have a reliable service department. After the money I'd spent on repairs the truck still does not run right. I would definitely never take any vehicle to their service department for repairs. Not to mention the fact that they grossly over charge me for the repairs that they did, the fact that they used remanufactured parts instead of new parts is another thing that has really upset me. My truck was in their service department for over a week. After I took it in and had them do the repairs, when I brought the truck home the check engine light was on. The check engine light did not been on when I took it to them. That makes me wonder what they do to your vehicle to make you c** back 4 more repairs. read more
