Very charming! Beautiful little bed and breakfast, exquisitely decorated. Surprised by the other review, because we found it to be very clean and nice. The man who owns the place is very nice, and will take you for a carriage ride. We fed some deer marshmallows, watched the sunset in the carriage, and had a nice evening. He is a chatty man and makes for good conversation- lots of stories. The rooms were very nicely decorated, and while they were admittedly a tad "musky," the antique charm makes up for it. There were also fans in the rooms to help. Additionally, there was a very cool copper bathtub in our room. The location is great, right by the main stretch near a restaurant and antique shop. Additionally, there is a stash of board games and puzzles for guest use. The breakfast was nice, and included a lot of options. It was a very "country" meal, and pleasantly tasted hearty. We spent the Easter weekend and Jamesport hunting for antiques to stage a cabin which is in the area. We had a successful stay in the beautiful civil War themed country Colonial bed and breakfast. everything was clean and bright and the breakfast was so delightful and absolutely too much however the six of us sure enjoyed everything. read more

This place needs cleaning (very musty and dusty), bed sheets and blankets are not washed; there were 8 adults and 1 child; I brought 6 bedsheets just in case their sheets were not new (WASHED). Several of us use the bedsheet to cover our bottom half, and got skin breakouts!!! Breakfast was very disappointed, 8 adults and the owner(Nina) only cooked enough for 3 adults to eat (6 toasts--cut into halves, one medium size plate of watery scrambled eggs, a plate of watermelon, and around 8 slices of some type of blueberry bread. We were still so hungry; on top of that the dishes was pre-washed in a small plastic container with little dish liquip and the dishes were already dried with a towel - very unsanitary!!!! This historic bed and breakfast is decorated in civil war era with all the compliments of the time period. A baby grand piano in the parlor, over 1000 of books in their library, a secluded garden out back. However the best part is the rooms, each with their own "private bathroom" to include sink, toliet and shower or 1800's copper bathtub. Our room was the veranda room and had access to the private balcony which overlooked the Amish countryside and a small Methodist church. The Inn keepers Myrick and Nina are very pleasant and the breakfast fit for an army, there was so much food and a wide assortment. Everything was served in "formal" china, silver or silverplate serving dishes and the food, pastries were out of this world a delight! The Inn keepers live on premise, behind a secret bookshelf which made the stay even more an experience. They may not be the biggest b&b in town, however we stayed previously at a "motel" type in the town months prior and found that they might as well be a motel 6! Country Colonial doesn't offer any pre packaged foods, yet they offer the towns' best meat, farm fresh eggs and pastries. While anyone may find a complaint here and there about their experience, I still say 5 stars! We brought a Pastoral retreat here and all couples were delighted the same as us and we especially enjoyed the midnight carriage ride. It is just about $25 more on top of your stay, but no other service like this in the town. in fact we inquired if Myrick and Nina could consign their carriage ride out for a fund raiser for our ministry which is a little over 2 hours away and they were thrilled with the idea. I especially like the Amish farmers stopping in to say hello during breakfast, delivering eggs and goods. What an authentic way to spend a weekend! read more
