I am always amazed at how dense the population is (455 units) and yet how very quiet it is, especially at night. One side of my place, where my patio is located, is next to Hines Park, which allows me to view wildlife close-up. There are many lovely trees that add to the overall beauty of this co-op. Whenever I complete a work order, it is rare for me not to get service that same day or the day after. The management, the maintenance staff and the board work very hard to keep this residential area top shape!

Many mornings I have seen deer on my walks through the park. All of your gas, water, outside maintenance are taken care of plus complete care of your furnace, hot water heater, smoke alarms, windows and routine maintenance on any plumbing issues. My neighbors are great and there are lots of different ages and interesting folks in the units. The monthly maintenance fee to cover all these amenities is less than $500 per month(based on size of unit--see website for details) and has stayed the same for several years. (Also the wall paper was replaced and the carpet was going to be replaced. But I thought it looked fine and clean.) The clerk/receptionist Rose was nice, and very helpful and friendly. The conference rooms were nice and roomy. However....I did have an issue with thier phone system. Now I was expecting issues; in IT you have to be prepared for speedbumps. Rose called a property manager (didn't catch a name) who came over partly for the phone and partly there was a issue with the partiotion that seperated conference room A and B. My issue was this.....she seemed like she was either really busy or just didn't want to be there. Yes it was close to 5, I understand. But when she was the point of contact for the phone guy, and she was only on site for like 10 minutes.....I guess it would have been nice for her to see if my issue got rectified. So Rose had called a super to come over and help her, which he did. However, I was waiting for her to get down with that (in her defense she did have a meeting scheduled that night) but was told by the other blonde manager that he was going to be done by the end of the night. Dislike. Fortunately, the super knew who I needed to call, and after following his instruction, the phone still didn't work. But thats ok, meeting him in the AM to get it going. (which hopefully gets done in the 30 minute window we are given.) (Shrug) Very clean, kitchen area with vending machines, and clean bathrooms. The place was very nice. Will take pics when I can.

Instead, Northville Square occupies a lovely selection of buildings downtown all focused upon a main interior plaza. The windows fronting the sidewalk really do not hint at how much is buried deep within the recesses of heritage facades preserved charmingly to maintain the air of the historic downtown. I rather love the concept, and it's one way to protect old buildings while repurposing them. Are you paying attention to me, developers of Detroit who so love to rip down the city's magnificent architecture for another bland big box monstrosity? Northville Square contains an eclectic variety of shops and services, restaurants, and an ice creamery I have yet to try due to the cool weather and full tummy when I visited. Popping in really gives an idea how large the complex is, and how many little boutiques and offices are tucked away. There is at least one restaurant in there, but since I wasn't paying close attention while hunting for a gift, I am afraid my awareness was limited at best. Instead, enjoy the bright architecture and the many splendid items all around. All sorts of springtime activities are advertised on posters and flyers, ranging from art classes to yoga and local performances targeting children, teens, and adults. I love the community emphasis and promoting the town and its businesses are well in effect.

The first just to see what the mall was about; the second, for Northville's "First Friday Art Walk" event. It is pretty empty in there, which is really surprising!! It's beautiful in there. They have two sports bars, a Spinergy (spinnig/cycling) class, a Yoga/Pilates business, a dance studio, an Ice Cream shop, a retail boutique (soon to be another one as well) Cari Cash's store, and a wealth management business. I don't think a lot of people know about this place, which is really sad!! I think a coffee shop is about to open there. But they definitely need more business there for the future. Go visit!! :)

My place is spacious, full of light and has plenty of storage space. Any of my friends that visit comment on how much they wish they lived here. The train tracks are very close and yes, you can hear the train, but it's not problematic at all. Utility prices are great. Water is included and the way the units are built, gas is completely reasonable. If you're considering buying a unit here, don't hesitate!

The building is secure from the outside and well maintained. Hallways and stairwells are cleaned frequently. Lofts are are adequately sized and modern with quality appliances. There is an enclosed underground parking garage that they keep heated in the winter. All units have nice sized balconies, from which you can hear music from downtown in the summer or watch the train roll by daily. There is also an in-building dry cleaning pick-up service. Let's not forget that Bode's Corned Beef is just a stone throw away. Keep in mind, Downtown Plymouth is .4 miles, which makes for easy walks between home and the restaurants/bars. It's so convenient to check out the Farmer's Market, Ice Festival, Fall Festival, Art Fair, Summer Concert, or any of the other multitude of events going on downtown. Why didn't I give it 5-Stars? Well, until you get used to it, plan on being woken in the middle of the night by the train. It has no sympathy for sleepers. Even after almost a year the long horn blasts at 4am would jar me from the deepest slumber. Also, the units are loft style. The plus is that it feels very large and open, and airflow is excellent. However, because the walls between rooms don't go all the way to the ceiling sound from one room can be heard in any other room as if it's in the same room. This can be problematic when different TV shows are being watched, one person is studying or trying to sleep while another person is active. In summary, this is what I've found to be the best place in the downtown Plymouth area to live, short of getting a place in Kellogg Park. but for the cost, it's probably better! Have an opportunity to get a unit in this building? Take it.

If you understand A2, you know that housing is frustrating, expensive, and the maintenance of many of the houses and apartments leaves a lot to be desired. HOWEVER, Saga and the staff have been very responsive to maintenance requests, questions about payments, etc. The apartment was in very good condition at the beginning, we did have some maintenance requests, but they were fixed within the first day. Nice and central to campus, lots of amenities nearby (CVS/Target/bus stops/food), easy to get to North Campus.
