The large well-worn wooden doors in the sandstone brick is enticing but might be, for some, sketchy. There's a large sign on the door but no other markings. When I walked in, I was expecting a small space, but to my surprise, the building is far larger than it appears -- like a Tardis, I suppose. Things are sorted -- kind of: the kitchen things are in one spot, the glassware dining and living room accoutrements in another, and then a middle room with old clothing, spurs, saddles, chaps, and the back room with toys, books, vinyl, pictures, tools, knives, and other general things. The owner, a spry older man, tells everyone to come in and browse. If he's not helping a customer, or haggling over pricing, he's quietly sitting in the front reading. There's no air conditioning or water as he explains why he's not open in the winter. It's an old building that in the heat of summer stays cool inside. Owing to his health issues this might be his last year and he'll close when it gets too cold outside. But then again, maybe he won't. He hasn't decided. But for now, make him an offer on whatever you find and he'll work with it. Many of things he has accumulated he found from various road trips in the Dakotas, Wyoming, Nebraska and points west. When he mentioned his age and how long he's had this shop, I suddenly felt as though I have accomplished nothing at a much younger age. What a life he's had. Two visits to this shop already -- not because I need or want anything, but because I enjoy the adventure of the search and the stories. With that said, I did find a couple original craftsman screwdrivers to replace some I lost. I have to work on my haggling skills, though.

There are antique stores with more than you can absorb, mostly of the junky stuff, and then…read morethere are places like this: an antique store with what might be a specifically curated stash of things old, but still in good shape and still useful. Of course, there are still some campy items, but when they're strategically placed and don't become the rule, it makes for an interesting place of exploration. I was for some reason, drawn to all the cast iron pans -- all old, probably seasoned from years of use in nearby ranches and farms. I'm sure they each had a story. Getting the story was the challenge, though. And if a story is what you want, the owners have them, if you have patience. Like some small towns, there's a certain reticence with out of towners. That's easily overcome by either ignoring it, or facing it head on with asking lots of questions. Interest or money or sometimes both, talks -- everywhere. Stop in. Enjoy the nice antiques, and be sure to get the story that goes with them. It'll be worth it.

Right when I walked into the store the employees very hostile towards me! I asked if I could try on a few things in the fitting room , so I did I had opened my purse to grab my phone because someone was calling me . I thought nothing of it , I get out of the fitting room and check out the employee is still being extremely rude towards me . For no reason I was complimenting the store, and how gorgeous it was and I was smiling the whole time and killing her with kindness. I checked out and was heading out of the store ( I have worked retail for years ) . Then the employee starts screaming at me in front of the street with many people watching as I'm getting into my vehicle. She said I was a thief ! At that point I was balling my eyes out and literally poured everything out of purse onto the ground to prove I had not stolen any item. She continued to berate me in front of everyone and her reasoning is because she heard my zipper to my purse in the dressing room. She had short curly and was caucasian and in her 40s . I had no right to be treated that way and won't be coming back! I called the owner and she said she would speak with her employees I hope she did! Other than that it was a cool store . The guy informed my husband they were open that day from 10am - 5pm. So with the roads as nasty as they were, we drove from Great Falls, MT to shop at the store. The best part of it will be knowing these wonderful pieces are not priced outrageously. The owner explained where the pieces came from (all over the country) and what they were used for, and the wood they were made of. If there was a re-creation of an antique, he explained that as well and gave us a few pointers on how to make the distinction. Twice Touched also carries some specialty things -- lamps, vases, wall art and the like. It was a visual and tactile treat from start to finish. We could have spent a lot more time browsing this shop and look forward to a return visit. Someday.
