Being that I am from the general area this shop is located in, I cannot believe I have both never visited nor heard of it until recently! I discovered this place from a quick Google search, and am so glad that I did. The shop is situated on a back road, but has plenty of parking and is easy to locate. There is a nice porch with some outdoor seating. We went on a Sunday evening in April, and it was not terribly crowded. The line moved fast and service was prompt. All of the girls working were nice and professional. It seemed like one of the girls was in training, and even with this the service was great. Being that it was my first time visiting, I had a lot of questions about the menu. The girl cashiering was kind and willing to answer all of my questions, as well as give product suggestions. We both opted for parfaits with the vanilla custard - the Apple Pie and the Strawberry Pretzel. They were huge and so delicious!!! We also got a pup cup to-go for our dog, and he loved that as well. I thought the prices of everything were very fair, and it is a fantastic value for the quality of product received. In addition to the custard offerings, there is a gift shop to patronize. There is a lot of country-themed gift and novelty items, and it was fun to peruse while waiting in line to order. There also were various other types desserts (pies, cookies, cupcakes, and more), as well as pepperoni rolls, for purchase. I believe these are all homemade by the business! This place takes the top of my hidden gem list! It's absolutely in the middle of nowhere but well worth the trip. I ordered a Reese's Cup sundae and my boyfriend order the banana split. There were tons of options to choose from as far as toppings and flavors. We also snagged the last peanut butter gob. Everything that we ordered was delicious and huge! We both ordered size small for our custards and could barely finish half of it. I should mention that there's also a cute little gift shop section with tons of candles and knickknacks. The employees there were friendly and had our order ready for us fairly quickly. There's available tables outside on the porch that you can help yourself too. This place is the best ice cream joint in Westmoreland County, and that beats out Kerbers who has great hard ice cream. Check my review for that place if you prefer hard ice cream. The difference really is the volume you get for the price, and I would think with Biden, and the mighty inflation we are seeing right now this should have been a much more expensive visit, but even if they increased the price it's still worth it. Soft Serve Warm Peach Sundae with Walnuts This peach dessert is about as rich as Elon Musk, and comes with pie crust at the bottom, canned peaches, vanilla ice cream and you have to ask for the walnuts and whipped cream, but for $6 it can feed at least 3 people. After three bites I had my full of the delicious dessert, but it had nothing to do with the flavor. That was our realization after happening upon this place because we went the wrong way, and found it on our travels, trying to find the "right way". This place was amazing. Over 24 different flavors of great REAL custard, tons of other options, and a bakery full of great, amazing pies and other goods. To top it off, all inside of a gorgeous little country store full of beautiful candles, artwork, and other awesome stuff. I cannot speak higher of the staff and owners of the place. I've been driving past the Country Custard Cottage during my work commute for the past few months now, and I finally had the time to stop on my way home one day. I'm so glad I did! This business is quaint and has an excellent array of baked goods and ice cream to choose from! I particularly like the small country shop located inside the building that offered country/primitive-themed items for sale, such as candles, pictures, wind chimes, and other fun finds. The ice cream menu is huge; there's something for every ice cream connoisseur to enjoy! There are picnic tables and benches on the covered porch so you can sit with friends or family and enjoy your tasty treats. There's a small pasture with goats in it nearby which adds to the fun! There's plenty of parking, and its located near the Youghogheny Rails to Trails route, so it would be a great stop for travelers in the Sutersville area. Great custard...had the orange cream custard and prior had the mint chocolate shake....also bought the blackberry tart and coconut cream tart on prior occasions which were mouth watering to eat...able to enjoy the cones and shake while rocking on the patio in the rocking chairs while gazing out across the way in the fields ...definitely will be back ... read more

Ice cream was decent but my wife ordered a cone the girl gave her it in a cup. My wife said "I ordered it in a cone" in a very polite tone. The girl then proceeded to give my wife Attitude and say "can I just put a cone on top" my wife replied "no I'd rather have it in a cone since I paid for it in a cone" the girl rolled her eyes and stomped away with horrible attitude. If she worked for me she'd be fired on the spot. Terrible way to run a business. That young lady is a threat to this business. read more

Whenever I am back in Pennsylvania, I always like to visit here, especially in the summer. They have some of the best ice cream around and offer a lot of variety in ice cream flavors, banana splits, clusters, and even Milkbone ice cream sandwiches for dogs. The Banana Cream Pie, S'mores, and Turtle Clusters are so good. Portion sizes of everything are always generous. Everyone who works here is always friendly, and it's nice to sit on the porch and enjoy ice cream as a nice summer treat. read more
