Dealing with this office has been the worst medical experience I've ever had. 2 years ago, I saw Dr Rupp for vision that had suddenly worsened. In total, I had 3 appointments and many tests. When all was said and done, I was told that my prescription was only slightly different. When I told them that my vision was still extremely blurry, and that I was still struggling to drive and work, I was told that my eyes were fine and sent on my way. In March of this year, I made another appointment because my vision was getting even worse. The tech who was testing my eyes again commented that my vision was only slightly changed from my last appointment. When I expressed that I didn't understand how that could be because I was struggling to do even basic things, she mentioned that maybe it was because of my cataracts. I responded that we should check to make sure that she had the correct patient file, because I did not in fact have cataracts, she corrected me and told me that I did. She then didn't have much to say (understandably) until the doctor came in. This time, I saw doctor Church. When I expressed dismay that I wasn't told that I had cataracts, and that I had no idea of what was going on, Dr. Church looked at me and told me that all he could speak to was the here and now and that my eyes were fine and my cataracts were "mild". Shortly afterward, I was ushered out of the office- with zero information about what cataracts meant for future health and what my care plan would be. After I returned home, I called back and spoke with the office manager Jeremy. I expressed concern about the breakdown in communication and stressed that more than anything, I needed some education and information about what this diagnosis would mean for me moving forward. Jeremy promised he'd call back the next day. He called back 2 days later to advise that he wanted to talk to Dr. Rupp and would call me the following Monday. After 2 weeks, I called and left a voicemail for him and asked for a callback. It's now been 3 weeks and I have never heard from him again. I was frustrated initially with the lapse in communication, but my bigger frustration and concern is that clearly, they don't care at all. A simple call back from a doctor (or anyone) would have fixed everything. More than anything, I just needed patient counseling. Apparently, they don't have any duty of care standards. The lack of professionalism is astonishing. I've since seen another doctor and will be getting surgery soon. I would never recommend this office for their appalling lack of communication, absence of customer service, and lack of care of their patients. I've had many health issues and procedures and this is the only negative review I've ever written. I understand that a breakdown in communication can occur, but the fact that I got zero acknowledgement (let alone any kind of apology)or even any information about what was going on with my own health is unacceptable. read more

I'll keep this as short as possible. Dr's are not friendly. In fact they're not very personable at all. Front desk gals have been friendly but when I call in for something, not so much. Not sure if it's different employees. Needed a Prescription and my only two options were fax or mail. No option to text or email. Had to go in and pick up. Lastly the eye glass center is waaay over priced. Even the employees tell you to go somewhere else to get lenses and frames. Need to find a new provider for eye care. read more

We had a good experience with County hills eye center. They were great getting our appointment set up in a short amount of time. Doctor Rupp and his team were awesome! I would recommend to anyone that needs a good ophthalmologist. After reading other reviews that complained about wait times. We never waited more than 15 minutes. Swift is my doctor and he is awesome. Great doctor. All the staff were amazing. My issue is with the staff at the check in desk. I went in and showed them my insurance cards because it's new. I asked her if I was covered in the optical section as well and she said'yes'. So after my appointment I go to optical department and they tell me I am not covered. So I wasted an afternoon. The two departments are separate BUT MY HELL they need to coordinate with each other a lot better. Because they obviously don't. I am pretty upset !!!!! read more

My first visit was amazing. The staff was friendly and the eye doctor fid a great exam. Now 2 years later the office staff sucks. They chewed me out for not leaving a message to schedule an appointment. The doctor is just grumpy. He got frustrated when I chose a different type of contacts. The person that was supposed to help select new frames refused to let me look at the selection and only brought over what she thought looked okay. DONT COME THERE! read more

Took a 90 year old relative in to see Dr. The appointment was at 2pm. We arrived at 155pm. After 10-15 minutes we were taken back by a technician for a test. Test took 5 minutes. We were taken to a waiting room, waited there for 1 hour. We were taken back to by a tech to an exam room where she did preliminary exam. She was very brusque and rushed my relative through the exam too quickly to give the patient time to respond to. questions. This took about 15 minutes. We waited 15 minutes for the Dr. He came in and took 5 minutes and suggested a follow up with another specialist not in the practice. We were taken to another waiting room to wait for the scheduler, the office couldn't find her and told us they would call later. By now it's 410pm and the patient is exhausted and frustrated, and doesn't want to come back to CHEC. In previous visits the wait times were long but not this bad. read more

I have been a client of Country Hills For 30 years. My kids all grew up going here. BUT, they have changed so much. I called for an appointment to get my annual eye appointment, ok I not great at yearly, and the get my drooping eyelid fixed. YOU CAN"T HAVE TWO APPOINTMENTS THE SAME DAY. I called my insurance and spoke with them. No problem they said, I called back to get them both the same day. NOPE they can't do that, billing said so. I'm done. My real rating is a negative 5. If you want to be treated like a human go to lens crafters, shopko, Walmart, literally ANYWHERE but here. Do you like resolving easy issues over the phone, such as getting a copy of your prescription emailed to you? Do you like to be treated like a human who doesn't have time to waste? Then this is not the place for you. All I want is a copy of my prescription for glasses, easy right? Nope! Not here. You are nothing but a pain to them and they let you know all they are interested in is taking your money without giving you much of a product. A technician (not a doctor) determined my prescription and I was with an actual doctor for less than 5 minutes. They heard you through different rooms like cattle being processed. I had a small surgery on my eyelid, which involved several appointments. Each visit I was very impressed with the courteous business staff as I checked in, checked out and had a pre op discussion about costs and insurance. Dr. Lever was great as a surgeon and so pleasant at all of my visits. I saw a different tech each visit and all were very friendly and upbeat. Great experience all around. read more

I have been going to Country Hills Eye Center for years and have always had a good experience there. The doctors and nurses are great! They focus on your needs and give you their attention. My only complaint is the wait time. I just plan on having to wait forever at the office. I wish they would schedule the doctor out a little better so you're not sitting in his office for hours on end. ***UPDATE*** I just had another appointment here recently, and was treated well by the staff. However the wait times are getting RIDICULOUS! I mentioned in my first post that you have to plan on waiting there, but it's getting worse. I watched my eye doctor walk past my exam room three times to go see other people before coming to see me. I only see him for less than 5 minutes, does it really have to take over 2 hours to see him?? Super frustrating. read more

I am so ANGRY. They got my prescription wrong. So I try to schedule and am told I have to wait a year because of my insurance. So a year later I finally get an appointment. (It took 3 months to get me in). I drive all the way into Ogden. Pulling over once for Emergency vehicle. I get there 10 minutes late. Wait in line to check in and now I'm 16 minutes late! I was disappointed. I chose Country Hills because i have double vision and one of their doctors is a specialist. I had what i feel was a short exam by the doctor who had marginal bedside manners. I got the new glasses, the prescription was wrong. I went back, I was checked again by a staff member (a nurse or technician) and it was still wrong for the lower trifocal part. I told the helper at the optical shop and said that I liked my older glasses for that part so she said she would use that prescription. Did not work. I feel that a doctor should have seen me for any corrections. I've struggled with those glasses for 11 months now and am now going to my old ophthalmologist who I felt did a much better job in the first place. Dr. Richards literally saved the life of my daughter. We saw him for possible lazy eye, but he went beyond a regular exam and realized that everything didn't add up. He had her seen immediately at the hospital and down to Primary Childrens for a brain tumor. She coded just as they took her to surgery. Another day, another hour more, and she would not have survived. Dr. Lever also is awesome and has helped my wife resolve her watery painful eyes of over a years duration. read more

They're competent and provide adequate care -- when you can finally be seen. They are masters of wasting your time as the wait times are unacceptable and ridiculous. My first visit took 90 minutes just to get in the back room. They claimed they were short staffed that day, which I would accept... HOWEVER, I've been seen a couple times since and the average wait time after check-in is 45 minutes. I won't be returning, since I expect to be seen at my appointment time, not nearly an hour later sitting in a waiting room. If I'm on time to my appointment, I expect the same courtesy in return. As I sit here, I am in their office waiting for my elderly mother to be seen. It took 42 minutes to be taken out of the waiting room. I'd give only one star except that they do seem talented. It's frustrating, however, that they waste my time every time I'm here. If you decide to come here, expect an appointment to take half a day. I won't be coming back. read more

My son started going to Dr. Lever when he was just 2 weeks old and Dr. Lever was always so kind, patient and helpful. This review pertains to the Optical Center only. As another reviewer stated that he wished he could designate a negative 5 rating, so do I. We had purchased the replacement insurance for each of our children's glasses. My son had broken the arm on his frame and the arm was lost. We waited over three weeks for the replacement frame and did not possess the arm that was broken. They would not provide the replacement frame unless all parts were returned. So, we walked out with no replacement frame. I asked for the return of my insurance payment along with the $25 dollar fee which we paid for the replacement frame. The employee who assisted me stated that the manager would have to do that. As she sat there silently I asked her when he was going to come out and do that. She responded that the manager was not on site and she would talk to him. This was on Thursday. I had not received a call back; so, on Monday I called the optical office and asked to speak to the manager. He was not on site. He did call back and informed me that he had processed the refund. I asked how he had done that and he said he sent it back to the card we had used to make the purchase. I stated that my family members (husband and children) would no longer purchase their eye glasses from their store. He replied, "I heard that, that's fine." I'm glad that business is so good that you can write off five customers in one day. No option or solution was provided to us. Both the employee who assisted us and manager only answer questions curtly and without qualification. I would have been willing to purchase the replacement frame at their cost. I abhor businesses that are simply transactional in their sales. Excellent customer service, sometimes give and take, building a relational sales model is more productive and satisfying to both the customer and the business. I just moved to Utah from the east coast and needed a new eye doctor as I wear contacts. I experienced a new "floater" in my vision and was given a prompt appointment even though I had not started as a patient at Country Hills Eye Center. They were compassionate and thorough. My eighty-nine year old father had an exam at Country Hills Eye Center. They had him alone in an exam room for three hours. The doctor would do some small thing and leave him for up to a half hour, then do a few minutes exam and leave again. He had no place to lie down and was so exausted it took him two days to recover. I tried three times to go back to check on him, but the staff insisted I needed an escort, but would not find someone to help. When I tried to talk to the doctor after they did finish with him, the staff told me he was gone, and my father was so tired and confused, that he hadn't understood his diagnosis. I am so concerned that they treat such fragile, elderly people that way. read more

I have never come across such a rude, ignorant receptionist before this! I called to set up an appointment for a spanish-speaking friend's child (who does speak english) and right off the receptionist was very hesitant to set up an appointment. I explained that the child is very fluent in english and that he would not need any type of translator & that his mother did not speak english but she trusted the doctor enough to put her son in his hands in regards to the child needing glasses or not- but the receptionist said that the mom needed to bring an interpreter with her. At this point I was getting frustrated with the receptionist so I bluntly asked her if they only saw english speaking poeple and she answered YES. She was very short with me & I just don't understand how when it comes to a child being able to see or not should come down to whether his parent speaks english or not. I understand how this could be a problem if the patient didn't speak english, but at the same time I know that eye exams can be done on deaf people and infants who don't speak. Needless to say that we will find a business who is more interested in helping people see. read more

Reception was horrible. The exam took about four hours even though I had an appointment. I had an appointment at 8:00, I came in at 7:40 to check in and I didn't leave that place until 12. After two hours of waiting, I decided to ask if they had forgotten me, I was then told to go back to my room and wait. The doctor finally came to the exam room two hours later and he was rude. Overall, it was a bad experience and don't get me started on the part where they did the insurance paperwork wrong. I would recommend you find another place because this place is bad and it wasn't just a bad day thing because I've given this place multiple chances to improve. read more

If you like a factory setting, this is the place for you. Lots of departments, lots and lots of exam rooms, lots of people in scrubs doing very specialized things. My basic, introductory eye exam took 2 hours. And at the end, I had to schedule a second appointment on a separate day and additional time off work to go back to be fitted for contacts. They asked and asked and basically demanded I give them my health insurance card, even though I kept telling them that my insurance doesn't cover eye exams. The happy person checking me out said "This is submitted as a co-pay, you don't owe anything." Hmmm, yes I do! I have a high deductible, I'm definitely about to get a bill from my insurance company. Now I feel like a walking-talking insurance claim. Their price for this 2-hour exam? $220. The price to the extra contact lens fitting? $75. I feel ripped off. There has to be some place better. read more
