First time I've felt it necessary to leave a negative review for the Country Road Barn. Our other visits have all been excellent. Party of four on a Friday night, arriving at 5:05. Many parties already seated, and many open tables remaining. Told 20 minute wait, waited 35 and taken to a table that had been vacant the entire time. Waitress was very good- up until the end and service was very quick. Two of us ordered the Chislic- about 10 pieces of well done fatty steak and a side. The side was fine. The others had Ribs and Chicken. The Ribs were on the small side, very little meat. Chicken was dry. Every one of us noted that the food, with the exception of the sides was cold. I understand the ribs and other meat items are cooked ahead of time, but they should still be at least warm. End of the meal, we were very surprised when the waitress that had been so good, walked up, almost slammed the bills down and walked away. Hope this visit isn't the new norm here. read more

My family celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary here as a private event two weekends ago. I planned the event from a different state and Brenda was so helpful and responsive in answering my questions and preparing me for what to expect. We had the pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and spring pasta salad. The food was all delicious! This is a beautiful and clean venue that allowed for children to play while the party was taking place. All I have to say is OMG!! yummmm. the meats are super moist and tender, the potato salad is yummy and homemade, I am not a huge bean fan but they make some darn good beans, the mac and cheese is super good also homemade and (I usually will not eat mac and cheese in a restaurant I make my own) the corn bread is also good and moist. TRY THE BREAD PUDDING... it's the best I have ever had especially in a restaurant!!!! I have to say this is the best place I have eaten since I moved here a year ago. This place will now become a regular for my family. Brooklyn is a great waitress and made the experience pleasant (good service is rare) The owner is a very sweet lady and a dang good cook, my hat is off to you, Thank you! My wife and 2 friends walked in and was promptly seated, at the very back of the dining room. We joked with the server that seated us about this. We never had her or anyone else return to our table. A group of 14 came in and was seated about 10 feet away from us. Then a table of 4 was seated past them. The server came over to the table of 14 and took their drink order and proceeded to the table of 4 and took their drink orders. With us still sitting and waiting. A different server did approach our table after a while but turned around and walked away. We got up and left. As we were leaving one of the servers approached and we told her about what happened. She said she could seat us in another area and we would be served right away. I told her they already lost our business. read more

The food, the service, the atmosphere! All 5 stars!! We went for my husband's birthday. We each ordered the 2 meat platter with all different items so we could try more! I had ribs, pulled pork, beans and sweet potato fries. My husband had hot links, brisket, potato salad and side winder fries. Try the mustard based sauce! I am not usually into those kinds of sauces but this was on point. Each bite better then the last! Brisket can be done so wrong but in their case it was so right!! Rarely do you get a mouthwatering juicy brisket! Then for my husbands birthday they brought out bread pudding! It was the perfect amount of sweet! And the candied nuts were on point! Have the beans. You won't regret it! Super helpful and knowledgeable staff! Go early as they fill up fast!! A wonderful facility if you are looking to hold an event!! read more

We heard about this new BBQ place just north of Watertown SD so we decided to check it out. I had the 2 meat platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs tasted great and didn't need any sauce for a great flavor. The brisket had a great smoke ring pull apart tender, however they were just a little dry. I used the hot sauce, which can only be called that in the Midwest, it wasn't very hot. The white cheddar Mac and cheese was great, I only wish you could get the side order with brisket like the entree. The sidewinder potatoes were fun and tasty. We will definitely venture here again. read more

We had our wedding here a few weeks ago, we could not recommend the Country Road Barn more!!! Brenda and Jake were AMAZING! Through out the whole process they explained, provided advice, and helped! The staff kept the drinks coming, cleared off tables fast, and kept the night flowing! Everyone raved and loved the food!!! read more

I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was exquisite. The place was completely full, yet I didn't wait more than 20 minutes for my food. The waiter was extremely helpful and always offering refills and any other services. If u are a lover of great food and even better scenery I would 100% recommend. read more

First time into this business. Coming in we were told they are very busy tonight. Totally booked with reservations. Ok. She took us to a table for two towards the back of the place. No one came for us to order drinks, so after 15 minutes, my husband went to the bar and got us our drinks. We are still ok. The waiter took our order shortly after that. After waiting 45 minutes and all the other tables around us were getting their order, we decided to leave. Went to the bar to pay for the drinks and explained what had happened. Didn't get anyone that seemed to care. Evidently they have enough business and don't need more. Will NEVER go back. Very humiliating! read more
