I've been here a few times and I remember the days when there was a beautiful rock floor underneath the carpet that is now in the corridor between the banquet rooms and the coffee shop. Rip that carpet up and show off that beautiful floor!!! Rooms are a nice size especially the suites! Nothing too flashy when it comes to amenities, but it works well. Staff is polite and "mid-westy". One of the first "original" motels in Brookings along with the "Brookings Inn" which used to be a Holiday Inn. The Staurolite was once a Best Western as well. Lots of history in that little motel.

First off, shout out to the staff, they are absolutely phenomenal, very friendly and helpful! Both check-in and checkout was a breeze. The inside is super clean, from the lobby, to the pool area to the gym, the hallways and the rooms. The bedding was comfortable and the rooms were spacious. Shower had hot water and the pressure was decent. The complimentary breakfast was not bad at all. I used the pool (& the slide) and the fitness area while I was there. There is a 24 hr C-Store within the hotel, next to the lobby and the hotel is located next to a truck stop/gas station so everything is available. If and when I am back in this area, I will make a point to stay here.

They had a regular tub/shower in the bathroom. The whole hotel was very clean with friendly staff. The bed was very comfortable. Controlling the A/C from a thermostat was nice and it worked well. WiFi was good and breakfast ok. The star for me was the hot tub! I didn't want to get out! We were there for two days, so I made sure I got my money's worth. They had a regular hot tub and indoor pool that looked nice, but we didn't use it. I would highly recommend this place and spending a couple more ponies for the jacuzzi room.

The large refillable containers in the bathroom of various body/hair care items is a nice touch instead of the small travel size. The complimentary breakfast offers a great food selection and the staff is continuously making sure everything is fully stocked and nothing runs out. The front desk staff are always pleasant and greet you with a smile. You will not be disappointed!
