This place is huge! Come when they have a posted sale. Because they deal with such high bulk- deals abound. We came for the Mother's Day Sale and dropped just under $100 on a bunch of annuals for my planters and front garden. I got flats of so many things, but also my favorite purchase was an indoor succulent garden for $8.99 (that had at least 6 different succulents curated together beautifully.) The best part? Free beer. I had Tangerine Space Machine while shopping. It's fun to check out the garden art, waterfalls, dragons, and dinosaurs. There is also a place to get lunch that has Italian sausages and delicious fries starting at $10. This place is HUGE so you may need a nosh at the independent food truck as you leave. Enjoy! I used to love this place. I shopped here for years. It's been going downhill and I was really disappointed to see how bad It's gotten when I was there today. They used to have a lot of help out in the store, most looked like college students and were always really nice and happy to help. Today I had to walk all over trying to find help. Finally found someone, asked her a question and she didn't even stop to speak to me, just walked past saying, "HE works in this department" and was gone. I looked around, and 2 aisles over there appeared to be the "HE" she mentioned, a younger guy watering plants. i walked over there and he didn't even stop watering or look at me, so I said, "Excuse me, do you have organic vegetable plants?" He turned to look at me seemed annoyed I disturbed his plant watering, and said, "No." Then turned away. The store doesn't seem to carry anywhere near the amount of plants they have in previous years, not the selection I expected there at all. Very disappointing. They don't give you plastic sheets to protect your car anymore, which seems like a cheapskate move on their part, and just another drop in customer service like having so few employees on hand to help customers. In past years I've gone back several times and left with my Jeep loaded with plants. I won't bother with a second trip this year and probably won't bother going at all next year or in future years. Rows and rows and thousands and thousands of plants as far as the eye can see!!! They have an outstanding variety of plants and trees, and their prices are really reasonable (we checked out 4 greenhouses over a weekend and they by far had the best pricing). One of the coolest parts is that it's dog friendly! They have a huge parking lot, so there's not an issues. They did have police directing traffic because of traffic along m-45. F Countryside Greenhouse for not having the shoulders cleared in anticipation of the Black Friday Crafts event. The police are out there, and the traffic is stuck headed East on M45 to turn into CG, and the Westbound people are trying to turn left into CG if/when a parking spot opens up. This is madness. It is totally disorganized and it is irresponsible of CG to cause this to happen for people who are trying to traverse this road. I know two people who have landscaped their yards completely through CG, as well as buying plants Spring, Summer, and Fall -- who are NOT going to shop there anymore, just because of this. That may be a drop in the bucket for CG, but they also will be attending holiday parties, who will spread the word on this debacle. read more

I'll start this review by saying I was an annual customer to Countryside for a number of years (except, 2020/covid). I've been to Countryside even when they were off 68th in Eastmanville. I noticed last year (2021) that prices jumped up quite a bit. I figured they were trying to make up for losses due to the covid the previous year. This year (2022)....WOW! I could not believe the price spikes. Hanging baskets, the nice ones I bought $25 in 2019 are now $40! Annuals/flats are $13 ! Don't get me wrong, the selection is great. The prices, not so much anymore. Countryside USED TO BE the cheapest....bar none. On my way home I stopped at another 3-4 of the smaller nurseries along Lake Michigan Drive and Spring Lake. And their prices we so much cheaper! Example: Tomato plants CS: $2.79 Bosch's Bushes: $2. Same product! Coco liner CS: $4.99 Lowes: $3.28 Needless to say, this is my last year I'm going to spend hard-earned dollars at this place. Sorry. I like my money. I'll patronage the smaller places that do not gouge long-time customers. read more

This is the best greenhouse around. Huge beautiful selection of plants and helpful employees. I've brought home too many plants to count over the years and all but one or two have thrived. Feel very satisfied with my experience at Countryside. If you look for things to complain about you will find them everywhere. News flash, prices have gone up EVERYWHERE! Was at the grocery store not too long ago and they were charging $7 for cream cheese. Am I banning that grocery store? No! If you take issue with what Countryside is charging, shop slightly later in the Spring for discounted pricing. Ignore the complainer posts and check out this beautiful place. read more

I visited Countryside last and I was shocked. What happened!!? They only have the tiniest fraction of what they normally have. There were no large planters, the hanging baskets were small. The selection of plants was dismal. They only had a few petunias and the only color was pink. Do NOT expect what you've seen in the past. Any nursery is currently better stocked than Countryside and that is a serious surprise. read more

My neighbor and I went to countryside green house for flowers and tomato plants. Most everything was small and over priced. Baskets at 15.99 were terrible. Had to get a $35-$75 basket. For minimum growth. Tomato plants were returned they were so small. At $2.79 for 4" pots. Even the $17 pots weren't that great. Will look at alternates next year. Countryside Greenhouse is the Walt Disney World of garden centers, right down to the concessions. Spanning multiple football fields in length, and containing more plants than you've ever seen in your life this is the garden mecca of West Mi. It is not for faint of heart though. A few tips: -Come with a list. The more specific the better. If you plan on browsing till you see something you like, you will be overwhelmed and will probably seek refuge under a planter the size of a Prius. Be prepared. - To avoid the crowds, shop early (they open at 6 during peak planting time) or late (close at 9 during peak planting time) and stay away from Mother's Day weekend (unless you like shopping on the Saturday before Christmas, then by all means go gangbuster) - It is NOT a mix & match build your own flat destination. Full flats of annuals or 6 packs. - NO SUNDAYS (save yourself the drive) - They are dog friendly so if you can shop and walk your dog go for it! - When in doubt, ask. The employees are really good at deciphering "I'm looking for a little white plant with purpleish flowers and dark greenish leaves" type questions - Allow a lot of time, this place is huge, really it takes a while. - They deliver within 100 miles for $20 bucks. - Want perennials? Wait till July when they go on super clearance I've been shopping with Countryside for 20 years, since my GVSU days when they were a lot smaller at their old location. I have never had a bad experience and have always found the employees helpful and knowledgeable (this also applies to their Facebook page) and while they don't always have exactly what I need I can get 99.9% of all my annuals in one stop. read more

Clearly, the day of the week you go to this greenhouse will affect your degree of pleasure and satisfaction. We went on a Thursday afternoon and the parking and the crowd were manageable. I can't imagine what kind of chaos awaits someone here on a Saturday. The greenhouse is mind boggling in its hugeness The website says "8 acres.". Find the map the greenhouse supplies so you can find where the annuals, the flowering shrubs, the vegetable plants (or whatever you are searching for) are. As you begin to figure out where stuff is the place becomes less overwhelming. We decided this year to buy everything in one trip, so we chose Countryside. As residents of Kalamazoo, we do not live in an area devoid of greenhouses. There are plenty of choices, particularly in Comstock. But, I would bet that if you add all of the retail space of all of the greenhouses in Kalamazoo, Countryside would still come on top. It's that big. So we bought our bedding plants, our plants for all of the containers, several daylilies we had never seen before, a clematis, and all of the vegetable plants for the garden. As others have said, it's important to have a list. It would have been super easy to get carried away because there is so much to look at. Yellow peonies - we own so many peonies but the recent advent of yellow has so far eluded us - and there they were. Calling my name. I had to resist. Nice place. Staff are plentiful and helpful. The wife went down last Friday to make our yearly trip to purchase her flowers for this year, what a disappointment. We are in our late 70s and early 80s, and like last year there were no places to rest or set down, I'm an 82-year-old disabled vet, I understand last year because of Covid but not this year. I did ask if they had any place I could rest the young lady asked me to go outside to rest, that is really caring about your customers. After setting on a bucket I found by the check-out area, my wife came with two carts of plants, plus mine with 6 boxwood shrubs, we checked out with over $750.00 worth of plants, like always we wanted them delivered, and the cost for the last years (4) was $20.00, what a shock when they charged us over $79.00, we had to pay it, after all, we went through getting down there and picking out everything, and no way to get them back home, AFTER SHOPPING WITH THEM FOR OVER 15 YEARS, AT THIS LOCATION AND THE OLD LOCATION ........NEVER AGAIN, GOODBYE FOREVER. read more

All I can say is STAY AWAY !!! Anyone who likens this place to DISNEY WORLD is a key word for horrible traffic and crowds. I used to visit their smaller store years ago and that started to get crowded. This new store I got as far as Lake Michigan drive and turned around, traffic was backed up bumper to bumper for over a mile. At first I thought it was a traffic accident, then it hit me we weren't moving ,because people were waiting to get into a Green House!!!!! Complete waste of time... I waited for about 3 minutes when I realized my time was more valuable, not to mention I could feel my blood pressure rising.... I have never been back. When I turned around I found a nice little Mom and Pop Greenhouse along the way, with very similar prices, a great selection and personal customer service. I made my yearly stop at Countryside and they never disappoint. For such a large commercial operation, they have it knocked out of the park with their cleanliness, their selections, their signage of how to understand their color marking for shade, sunny or both type of plants, the many systematic check-out registers and the pickup curbside loading zones. There is so much more that I could rave about Countryside Greenhouse, it's that good. Their slogan, you will be amazed, is no joke. I recommend this greenhouse for all of your nursery needs. The quality of the product has dropped in the several years, very unhappy with the greenhouse. We have been coming down for over 10 years and even before they opened the new location, sorry to say that this will be our last year. Not needing anything we decided to check out this place as we kept seeing ads on TV. When you walk in this place is HUGE. They have so many pots, plants, and decorations. I think we spent a good 30 minutes just walking through all the pots that they have. The plants that were being offered are current, in season plants. Stuff that you would plant in the spring were not out...or at least I didn't see any. The layout is pretty straight forward and well organized. I didn't notice any signs or markings as to what was what, but not that huge of a deal...at least for me. I feel that the prices are very reasonable and it is very easy to get anything and everything that you could possibly need to make your yard look amazing. Very BIG Disappointment this year. We normally buy 20 to 25 flats of flowers and 40 some dollar plants each year to do our acre property with window boxes planters and flower beds. This year we could only get 10 flats of begonias no marigolds, no seed geraniums. Guess we will not be wasting our gas money to travel out that way again,. I guess when you expanded as big as they did you will fall much quicker. Don't waste your time. By closer to home worth the other private greenhouses. read more

Good selection, good prices, HORRIBLE customer service! On this particular Saturday, I spent approx $150 which included 2 black hanging baskets (w/ moss-like liners) and 2 hangers ($.99 each). I realized when I got home (3 hrs later) that I didn't have the 2 hangers but they were on my receipt. So, I went back to the store hoping to get replacements. I went to the information desk and explained situation. Experienced in this area myself, I assumed it would be no big deal. I'd show them my receipt and could just get 2 more. Again, only $.99 each. Instead, I was told things like..."Nobody brought anything up here so we need to find your lost merchandise first"..."You are welcome to walk around and look for your cart with it on it" Seriously? It was 3+ hours later on a busy Saturday with hundreds of carts and that cart could have been re-used more than once and left anywhere in the store. Furthermore, if my cart was re-used and another customer found them when checking out (but not theirs), an employee could have put the hangers back in inventory vs the information desk, not knowing they already had been paid for. The woman at information desk didn't want to hear the above possibility and insisted on having to find what I left behind before they would do anything.....basically implying I may be lying. They denied it, of course. So then why could they not believe the possibility and just let me get 2 replacement hangers? Again, only $.99 each. Over the years, I've spent hundreds of dollars in their store but they didn't seem to care. At this point I was quite animated and angry so a man from behind the desk, probably some sort of manager or security comes out and told me to literally "shut up" and "When you leave the store the merchandise is your responsibility." Absolutely true, but to treat a loyal customer like this...not willing to believe a very likely scenario, insisting on finding my left behind merchandise first (insinuating I was lying) ...all over 2 items for $.99 each that I honestly accidentally left behind. When I realized they weren't going to do anything, angrily I said I would re-buy them. However, the guy told me no and that I had to leave and was never welcomed back. He then followed me out to my car. When we got to my car he saw that I had Illinois plates. He immediately made some scoffing remarks to that affect as if to further insinuate that everything I said was a lie, I don't frequent their store and that I wouldn't be back anyway being an out of towner. Unbelievable. People do have summer places in MI. Obviously, it was clear Countryside could care less about customer service or customer satisfaction and would rather lose a customer over $1.98. read more

Frauds. I was there purchased $518 in merchandise, over $300 to be delivered. I tried to add to the order and the manager was exceptionally RUDE, as a result I asked him to cancel my order and refund me he yelled "Already done". I called back 3 days later, no refund. They connect me to the same ultra rude guy "It takes time to get put back on the card its already done". 20 days later, no refund. Guy was too stupid and stubborn to admit he didn't have my card number and couldn't refund me so as a result I have to go through a dispute process with my card company. SKETCHY. NEVER HAD such poor service especially from a company I spent 3k at last year. ID GO TO MENARDS again every time. Cost competitive, better product. read more

Wow this place is big! It explains how they can afford so much advertising on TV. They have a wide selection to meet almost everybody's needs. I did ask a couple employees for information and they provided it but since they weren't real friendly (definitely not rude though) I'm only going to rate it 4 stars.
