The other half is the true salvage business and it is impressively robust. The folks at the front were friendly and the wood stove was very welcome on this warm day. We planned to arrive early on Sunday afternoon after confirming their hours. The parking lot was large enough to accommodate the number of visitors and we found a spot and began walking around the exterior to check things out. There was a food truck in parking lot which we did not check out because we just had breakfast at Scratch Biscuit Company up the road. They also have a small amphitheater out side where it appears they do events. The entry to the amphitheater has some of their salvage from the Capital Center in Landover, MD. Michael, one of the employees saw us walking toward the back yard and we began to chat. He was friendly and accommodating and told us a few things about some ironwork recently salvaged from the Piedmont Triad which is our home. He also gave us a few tips on navigating the interior. We made our way inside and were blown away by the sheer number of items. The store appears to be very well organized and arranged with designated areas for items such as doors, windows , plumbing, electrical and hardware. Mixed amongst each space are salvaged items from all over the world. We thought the majority of the prices were reasonable considering the amount of time, effort, and money that is required to secure the items. We also learned that a good portion of the building is designated for various people to setup consignment spaces showcasing their treasures for sale. We once again ran into Michael and he asked us if we had a few minutes. We were happy to tag along side him while he pointed out some very cool hand carved pieces from India and Egypt. We really enjoyed our conversation and appreciated Michael's love and enthusiasm for vintage pieces. It was fun to talk with someone who appreciates the craftsmanship and history of pieces. Black Dog also features a good amount of swag items which will be fun to look back and remember our time in Roanoke. Awesome experience!

I found a…read morebeautiful large tote bag/handbag, a set of 4 vintage grape patterned nesting bowls with lids, a gorgeous ceramic bunny rabbit, a vintage tube cake pan like my mother had, three pair of earrings, a lovely cheese dome with a very unusual shape, a stylish and somewhat shabby chic hanging jewelry hanger for earrings and necklaces, a yellowware bowl and a vintage usa bowl, probably circa 1900's. What a haul! and all for less than 100 bucks! I will be returning again soon! Love this place!

Was out if town for an event with my church and stumbled across this market... My mom loved…read moreantiques and she needed to use the bathroom....we stopped in and while she was inside I decided to walking around and stumbled across these Statue of what is depicted as 'Black Sambo' and it's literally put me into a place of complete shock and disappointment....I've seen pictures of things like this...I've read stories about these types of statues and how black people were viewed but never in my life would I have thought I would ever see anything like this is 2018 live and in living color. My children were literally scared to look at them and It was sad that I had to explain to them at such an early age about what the poor mindset of people in America had and maybe even still have towards how other cultures are viewed.
