She had cancer in her ears and her nose :( Yes it was sad and she needed her ears taking off, but the help Mr Jennings gave was brill. So when I moved out, even before I had a kettle, I went down to the cats home and rescued my new best friend Phoebe and registered her at Manchester Street Vets. Every year she has her booster and wormer and I buy the anti- flea treatment from here too. Luckily we have never had any problems with Phoebe, other than a slight weight problem. So since Christmas we visited once every two weeks, now once a month, for Fat Club as I like to call it. It's really called Weight Clinic but since I do Weight Watchers, our Mondays are now Fat Club Day! Fat Club is a free service to all pet owners, where the vet nurse offers advice and help on overweight/ underweight animals and so far it is working. Debbie is our personal vet nurse and she is lovely. At first Phoebe hated getting in her carry case even though its a luxurious leather one with a luxuriously soft blanket inside, but now we don;t have a problem and when we arrive she strolls out and gets herself comfy on the scales! Debbie's help has helped me help Phoebe loose approx 500g - doesn't sound much but it's 10% off her total weight. The only downside to the surgery that I have found is the lady on the reception desk, she seems quite tactless. Whilst waiting to book another appointment, there was an elderly couple who had obviously just been told their precious dog was going to be put to sleep. They wanted to know how much it cost but couldn't say the words out of fear of crying, and the lady behind the desk was just being a bit insensitive. However, this doesn't bring down the services which the trained vets and vet nurses provide here.

Even though Sir Dobbie was a street cat, Andrew did his up most to save him, the day Sir Dobbie had a massive seizure, I rang Briar and they didn't hesitate to say bring him straight in, the way James apologised to Sir Dobbie when he was helping him cross over was heart warming. They all go to the moon and back to help save those poor cats. The whole team helped Moshi Marshall , who came in with a horrendous wound, even though Mosh was a nightmare customer, they never have up on him. The team treat all of Bart's waif and strays as if they are a well loved pet cat, no matter how feisty or scared the cat may be. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for everything they have done. They have also been amazing with my own gang too, when it came to losing my dog Rosie, they gave me as much time as I needed. When I took my Sally in as she wasn't well, they made me a cup of tea while I waited, when Sally took a turn, they rushed her straight into the back, with no hesitation. I could go on and on about this amazing team.

As I write this review I feel very emotional…read more We have had the worst week of our lives since our dog Loui who means the world to us became critically ill after I gave him a bone which got stuck in his abdomen and chest. In just 6 days Jocelyn has performed 3 operations on him with the help of Jacqui who is a wonderful nurse. One to remove bones from his abdomen, life saving open chest surgery which she had never performed before and is usually done by a specialist surgeon and another life saving emergency operation as his organs had stuck together. The love and care that Jocelyn, Jacqui the nurse, Becky the vet, the nurses and reception staff at Briar Dawn have given him over the last week is exceptional. Loui had his Open Chest Surgery on the Saturday so had to spend the weekend in the Bury Vet/Hospital who also did a wonderful job. On Monday Jocelyn arranged for Loui to spend each day with her at the vets so her and her staff could look after him their selves and he could come home with us at night. There have been times this week when we have turned up to the vets in tears when we thought we were going to lose him, but each time Jocelyn has had another option to try. Jocelyn and the staff have reassured us and done wonders to make him well again. This Thursday when he had another emergency operation he was very ill afterwards. On Friday and Saturday Jocelyn gave us a care plan with enough medicines to see him through the weekend as she knew how much we wanted him home. Thankfully, he has improved over weekend but we have a long way to go. There are not enough words to say how grateful me and my family are to Jocelyn the Vet/Owner of this practice and Jacqui the nurse [who has nursed Loui from the beginning] for saving Loui's life and we are so grateful to them both and Becky the vet, and all the lovely, caring nurses and reception staff who have been so caring towards us during our difficult time. Jenny one of the nurses even groomed loui one day to give him a bit of a pampering so he would feel better. I would not hesitate in recommending Briar Dawn to anyone. They aren't just a vet practice they are people who genuinly care about their pets and clients. Jocelyn and the nurses are lovely and the reception staff are so friendly and can't do enough to help you. Their website is very informative, and it was there that I found their Pet Plan where for £10.99 a month my kitten could get all the required injections, worming, flea treatment, microchipping, and a free months insurance. Before collecting my kitten from the breeder I phoned thet vet to book an appointment and to query about how to go about changing the kittens food over. The receptionist/vet was so friendly and helpful.!! On the day the vets were genuine and set both me and my cat at ease. At the time my furry friend had fleas ( a present from the breeder) but the vet soon remedied this. I have been back since, and have built a nice rapport with the vets and they greet us by name when we come in. I would strongly recommend this vets , it can get busy though which reflects its popularity .

Last year, I moved into my first flat alone in Withington. Solo. No flatmates. I decided that the only thing for it was to get a cat and thus cement myself in my friends' collective consciousness as their gin-soaked mad aunt. The first place I went was the Yew Tree vet surgery, as I knew they'd have a list of rescue centres, and they did. I made plans to visit one or two, but then by chance found Alan (nee 'Taz') going free to a good home, from a good home. Instantly, I loved him. Instantly, he loved getting under my feet. It was truly special. Then I noticed that Alan wasn't eating much and seemed pretty sluggish. Obviously I did what any normal cat owner would do. I cried, I panicked, I lambasted myself for being a rubbish cat parent. I went to the vets. The service we got at Yew Tree was fantastic. I burst in with my cat carrier and lay prostrate at the receptionist's feet "I am awful!" I wailed "my cat is ILL!" James the vet was lovely and calmed Alan down instantly, with some sort of vet magic, did a thorough once over and pinpointed the problem instantly. 20 minutes later, with a prescription, all of Alan's vaccines etc, a charity catnip toy and the advice "Do not feed your cat Go-Cat, it is MacDonalds for cats!!!" ringing in my ears, I was off home, happy again, and not crying. I know that it doesn't seem much; cat ill, vet see cat, cat get better, but as pet owners know, it is so important to know that there's a vet you can trust. The Yew Tree vet surgery is a great place to go. As well as saving your fluffy friend's life, they sell a great range of healthy vet-approved pet foods, and animal toys, a lot of which are charity affiliated. Even now that we've moved into the city centre, we still make the journey into Withington when Alan needs a check up, because we know we can trust them to be thorough and professional, and nice to the cat.

What if I've been a really bad owner and not known it? All these things were running through my head when young three month old Phoebe was popped in her pet carrier and taken to Withington's Yew Tree vet today. First of all, I love dogs and I love cats. But good lord, this is where dogs have the advantage. Most travel so well, and they're usually keen to meet new people so the strange man with the big needle doesn't seem in the least bit threatening. Cats, well, they're the misanthrope of the animal world. They adore a few select people but it takes a while to make friends with them. Now, Phoebe likes her cat carrier, for sure, which is a huge positive for a kitten... but she doesn't like being contained and she does NOT like engine noise. So here we were, taking what is normally rather a nervous, skittish and anxious kitten to an unfamiliar place in a now more heightened state of nervousness, skittishness and anxiety. Great. Just what on earth was going to happen on that table. I needn't have worried. Not only do you get a warm, lovely, friendly welcome at the reception desk, you get James. He's amazing. He's seen it all - nervous cats, cats who are phobic of everything from bins to bags to binbags to doors to shoes... like mine, angry cats, evil cats... he has one of his own. Our kitten was very healthy, he checked her over 100% and asked lots of questions about her behaviour and diet. We got tons of great advice about cat food and what little Phoebe would be needing in terms of shots and whatnot over the coming weeks. You can't put a price on a good vet, and now that there's a feline in our lives we're even happier we're moving closer to this establishment. Yay to the Yew Tree vets!

They provided round the clock care for the remaining 3 pups who are now doing very well. Provided timely updates on the pups who were in critical condition when they went into their inpatient care. I was devastated to find a new born kitten left on my doorway. It was clearly dying and I had no…read moreclue what to do. I put it in a basket and covered it up and took it to Park Veterinary Clinic. As an animal lover I was completely devastated and in an emotional state when I arrived. The staff were absolutely amazing to me and they took the kitten off me to put it to sleep. I cannot praise this clinic and their staff enough.
