I've never stayed here this is my first and last time. I'm going to read the reviews after I lose my review because I feel like that is fair and honest. The beds are not that comfortable the linens the sheets the pillows they're just very mediocre. Everything is very outdated. The price is way too much this hotel is over $200 a night and should not cost more than $80 a night. I'm so mad and frustrated right now and I don't want to forget not one single thing. There is a very weird smell it smells like someone has burned something in a microwave or a kitchen or something it is very pungent and I have really bad asthma. This is such an inconvenience all of my bags are in my room and I don't want to move rooms even though they offered. My throat is sore from this and I'm coughing up a lot of bad stuff it literally smells like burnt plastic. There's no ventilation there's no way to open the windows nothing. I'm so disappointed and I will never stay here ever again the staff was very nice and helpful as much as they could be but this is just unacceptable read more

I arrived at 6pm to find no one at the front desk. No bell to ring or sign anything. Luckily I had dinner in my hands so I sat down to eat and thought by the time I was done, the front desk person would be back. NOPE! I had to call the damn hotel to ask for the front desk person. That call got him out from the back real quick. Even though I had arrived about 30 minutes prior. The guy wasn't inviting at all. After checking me in, he disappeared again to the back and I saw other customers show up waiting like I did. Weird. This hotel is loud. The doors to the rooms shake the place. Shower stuff is just held on by tape and it fell off the wall into the tub. The hot tub outside doesn't work properly. The price you pay to stay here doesn't match up with the service. Yikes! This is an interesting Courtyard in that it's not the typical "cookie cutter" Courtyard -- it's a Courtyard that has been Charleston-ized with lots of special touches. The lobby is more upscale, with Charleston-inspired decor, and a "real" bar, separate from the cafe area. The rooms are designed a little differently, too, with traditional Charleston decor versus the usual Courtyard decor. I liked the little touches, like lanterns outside that had the flickering flame (a shoutout to old-school downtown Charleston). Customer service at the front desk was great. Didn't eat breakfast there so can't comment on that. Saw the pool in the courtyard -- looked nice, but I didn't go there (I had limited time at the hotel). The location in Mt. Pleasant is a little further away from downtown than I usually like to be, but I would definitely stay here again when in that area if the price is right. The is one of the best options I've found outside of the downtown Charleston area. read more

Our room had a small oval couch with large seating area. Bathroom is stocked with Paul Mitchell Products ! Super convenient and close to downtown Charleston and surrounding local breweries. What a difference between Rock Hill and Mount Pleasant. This Courtyard is very nice. And the Bistro (same menu as Rock Hill) actually is serving the ambiance when you walk into the Courtyard makes you feel luxurious. The lady at the check in desk has to be one of the nicest people I've come across in customer service. I had spoken to her earlier in the day expecting a late check in and I even told my wife after I got off the phone that she was one of the most pleasant people to talk to. I had a great nights sleep in the comfortable bed. The room is set up a bit weird. There was very little room between the wall and the right side of the bed. The bathroom could stand a new toilet seat. It has old cleaning streaks and some of the paint has come off the wooden seat. Also the door handle to our room should be replaced. It has significant wear . Kinda odd since the rest of the place looks amazing. read more

Located right in the heart of Mount Pleasant close enough to hop on either highway with many food and shopping plazas writhing 5 minutes driving distance. The hotel room was clean organized ! Also, staff here is amazing and willing to do whatever you request of them! Unfortunately I left my sunglasses in my bedroom and the staff was willing to grab them shop them to my home! read more

I have stayed here multiple times. The price is right and location is perfect for what I have to do. There are plenty of amenities, much are closed currently due to covid. The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. I will continue to stay here in my futures travels. read more

Why 4 stars? Because this was an inexpensive alternative to staying in Charleston. --- --- --- While planning my first visit to Charleston, I was quickly made aware that hotels do not come cheap on the peninsula. And when I say "they don't come cheap," I mean that they are all basically only affordable by the 1%. All of us common folk need to stay in Mt. Pleasant! So for being a short drive away from the city, this was not a bad stay! Nothing really stood out as super amazing or subpar. Just a solid hotel at a good price, and one I'd patronize again in the future. The only mild annoyance I had was the fact that it was located on a road that seemed to have an endless line of cars traveling on it. Traffic was ever-present. Fortunately, this property is located far off the main road, so if you're a light sleeper, you have no road noise to worry about. read more

Back to Charleston for the same customer as before, I spent three weeks here this time. The first night, there was a problem with my room on the top floor. Some sort of mechanical equipment (water condenser? air conditioner?) was causing a massive vibration and loud noise all night. I woke up in the morning exhausted, having dreamed that I had spent the night chasing a vacuum cleaner that I couldn't turn off no matter what. Disturbing. I complained to the clerk at the check-in desk and she said that they would have a new room for me that night. So I popped back to the hotel in the afternoon and moved my stuff from the old noisy room to the new one. All good. What disappointed me is that there was no follow up or contact from anyone. I'm a Marriott Platinum level elite - as a valued customer, I should have at least gotten an email or a message asking me if everything was okay. Disappointing. Its been a great stay. The rooms are spacious and updated. The beds are comfortable as expedted. The staff was very accommodating bringing us a crib for our 9month old son. Would give 5 stars though thr pool was pretty small considering how large the courtyard is. I think they have tried focusing on more events and large groups than family vacations and so on. Staying at the hotel while my son, a Cadet at The Citadel, recovers from foot surgery. My daughter, who attends CofC also joined us for four nights if the time. The total length of our stay will be seven nights when all is said and done. Not only is the hotel fantastic (clean facilities, comfortable beds, additional amenities), we love Marilyn and Zack at the front desk. They are personable, helpful and available. While we originally leaned towards staying at a hotel in the Patriots Point area, my kids and I agree that we all love this hotel so much better. It is also very convenient to shopping and dining. This hotel is now our first choice when coming the the area! read more

Gave it five to balance out what seem like unfairly low reviews. This hotel is extremely nice for the price. The lobby and courtyard design are very authentic in being like something you would see in downtown Charleston. The lobby is spacious with very comfortable furniture. There is a bistro for meals all day that are fairly convenience based foods (sandwiches, salads, etc) but the ingredients are fresh and the service personal and friendly. The courtyard itself has a massive fire pit with furniture that is made for relaxing after a long day. Our room on the third floor (302) had a very comfortable king bed and a huge oval sofa. Nice work area and rest room. The room is not huge but has a very efficient layout. The hotel is very convenient to Charleston and the value for the price is extremely good. I highly recommend this Courtyard hotel. read more

I arrived at the Courtyard and was impressed with how nice I thought this location was. The restaurant and lounge area are nice and select members of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I checked in promptly and headed to my room on the first floor located near the elevator where you hear everything. If you intend on getting any rest the first floor isn't for you. Upon entering my room everything looked tidy until I pull back the bed sheets and saw OLD BLOOD STAINS. It was to late to change my room so I slept on the couch. The next morning I reported the issue to the front desk, the young lady left a note for housekeeping and sent me on my way. If I were a representative of the hotel I would've done everything to accommodate the guest needless to say this wasn't done. I will NEVER stay at another Courtyard and everyone around me will hear about my experience. read more

Apparently the courtyard by Marriott DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT! - they are happy to get your business but don't even acknowledge their lack of concern in the very spot (mount pleasant sc ) that welcomes tourist to their beautiful ecological area. The lobby is really nice. Check in was quick. My husband is raving about the breakfast there. Ample food and cooked really well. Service is friendly and quick. Breakfast ends promptly at 9:30. The lobby bar is nice. The bartender is so friendly and attentive. The downside - the rooms need renovating a la The Hampton Inn. My recent Courtyard stays indicate time for refresh and renovation. Rooms are kind of dark and bathrooms are old. The Hampton Inns have done a really nice job of renovating old properties. But, yes, we would stay here again. My brother's baseball team played in a week-long tournament in the Charleston area, and so my family, along with most of the other team's families, spent a week at this hotel. I'm happy to say we had a lovely time, and I think we all treated the hotel well enough that they had a lovely time with us as well. The staff was very friendly! There is a man at the front desk, I believe his name is James, who is ridiculously helpful and always went well out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, be it material or information. He gave us tons of excellent restaurant suggestions, from small diners to real BBQ joints to fancier fare, throughout the week.The other front desk staff were equally as helpful, and hooked us up with trolley/shuttle schedules and coupons, among other things. The housekeeping staff did a great job as well, save one day when they seemingly decided not to show up to our room. A quick call to the front desk solved the problem, though they were slow in getting up to us even after that as well. The rooms were clean and spacious with all the right amenities. It was really great to have a refrigerator, but ours made a lot of really strange sounds, especially at night, so it was sometimes difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. We were also missing a lightbulb in one of the nooks, and even though we put in a maintenance order, no one ever showed up to fix it. It wasn't a huge deal, though, as it wasn't a bulb in one of the main lamps. Every morning, there is an absolutely fantastic breakfast available from 6am to 10am (these hours may be a little different on the weekend, I'm not sure). Depending on your room package, this breakfast is either complimentary or available for a price (which is about $10 for the buffet/already prepared bit and per item for the menu options). I believe that those with the complimentary option can order items from the menu and have them also be included, but I'm not sure on that one. Either way, it's the best complimentary breakfast I've ever had. I think I spent an hour in the dining area every day, reading and eating as much as I possibly could. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, make-your-own-waffles, fruit salads, cottage cheese, several flavors of yogurt, grits, hard boiled eggs, bagels, pastries, juices, coffee, tea, and... my favorite... always two different kinds of quiche! Pour gravy on that and you'll have to roll yourself out of there at the end of your stay. The lobby area had a very spacious library/living room/bar thing going on. There was a large tv on one end, along with a couple of public use computers, and a bar (open everyday from like 4p-10 or 11p) on the other end, with tons of armchairs and couches in between. Tea was available 24/7, and I believe there were happy hour times during which food such as cheese platters were out. The bartenders were nice, and we were allowed to sit along the bar while it was closed. There are quite a few outlets down in this area, though they can be difficult to locate. The pool was nice, as was the hot tub, and there were always plenty of towels available poolside. I spent a lot of time reading by the pool (compared to the time I spent in it), and found it to be a nice place to just chill and relax, with plenty of options for sitting in the shade. There are often children playing, so it's not necessarily the quietest area in the hotel. And if you're looking to use your electronic devices outdoors, be sure to come fully charged as most of the poolside outlets do not work! The rest of the outdoor areas were also very nice. Lots of comfy chairs and coffee tables in covered areas, along with a firepit that was popular among our group. There was always somebody around the firepit, even though it was a bit warm for that. I just checked out of my room today. I staid here for two nights during my recent interview trip to SC. The location is superb, located right off the highway, and just minutes from the Charleston airport, with plenty of free parking. There are several stores and restaurants located just down the street a couple of minutes drive away. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The large lobby area is one of the most cosy and inviting I have seen, with a large fireplace, comfy chairs, and a small bar on the far right side. There is also a computer with a printer should you want to check in ahead of time and print your boarding passes. In the afternoon they offer a free coffee service and fresh baked cookies. They have a happy hour at the bar until 7pm. This is a "small bar" with limited selection. The breakfast is an additional charge depending on the type of booking you made with the hotel. They also have a small fitness room to use. The rooms were clean, comfortable, quiet, and spacious. There was a small refrigerator, and coffee pot in the room. Overall no complaints and very happy with my stay here. read more

I think I paid to sleep in the noisiest hotel room in the country. Aside from the fact that I noticed too late (read: after we'd unpacked) we were stationed across from the fitness center and all of its comings and goings, all of the lobby noise bounced through the walls, into my ears and boiled my brain. How ridiculous to even rent out a room in this location! I don't know if all the 1st floor rooms have such high ceilings but it seemed like there was literally a plank between us an the 2nd floor; I could hear a great deal of upstairs movement. That aside, the hotel was very clean which is why this gets two stars instead of one. Being able to walk across the room in my bare feet without feeling as if I've contracted a disease is my first priority in a hotel. The staff was friendly...when they were actually at the desk. There is a little pantry near the entrance where they sell sodas and light snacks, our room had a clean fridge, and the wi-fi is free if memory serves (my friends and I visited in Oct 2011). Didn't dine in the hotel facilities, but we did utilize the free tea/coffee station located just off the lobby near the bar. I would consider returning if there weren't any other viable options in the area and I was on a higher floor. read more

Cozy little hotel tucked away right outside of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant. Reasonable nightly fee for staying here makes it a sweet deal. And once you walk in the lobby as well as take part in the daily happy hour, inclusive of chicken wings and BBQ, you will definitely be in positive territory for getting your money's worth! My mother and I recently stayed at this Courtyard while in Charleston for a long weekend visiting family. I very much enjoyed the hotel; I found it quite comfortable and felt very safe. It is close to a major Chas freeway (which is convenient), but I did not overhear any freeway noise and slept very soundly. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the lobby area was lovely (pool appeared to be quite nice as well, although it wasn't warm enough outside to swim). Our room/bathroom was spacious and updated. The mattress was nice and firm (perfect for me - HATE overly soft beds). Would definitely stay here again. read more

As other reviews note, the lobby is beautiful and spacious. The rooms are a decent size and clean. The beds are just okay. Good pillows though. The bathroom had some issues. The blowdryer was really old and there was no outlet in the bathroom. There was one near the floor by a mirror, but this isn't comfortable/logical if you are tall. We also had serious hot water issues. The shower was either ice cold or scalding hot, with no in between. We reported the issue... Nothing was done. Only other complaint is that we could hear... Activities... In other rooms. I'll let you use your imagination. Overall, if you can priceline for a good deal like we did it is serviceable, but I wouldn't pay top dollar for this place. read more

I imagine this place could get loud as the doors and walls are a bit thin. We didn't have any issues but I would hate to have loud neighbors here. I thought this place was great for basically a place to crash when in Charleston and you don't feel like driving home. We prefer Marriot hotels and collect their points. So we've been in quite a few of them. This is probably nicer than most Courtyards. But I think the next time we stay in Charleston my wife will want to try someplace different and closer to downtown. It took us about 10-15 min to get downtown. Then a half hour to find a place to park! read more

The location is in a good spot for anyone visit Charleston. The hotel is clean and the staff are very nice and did a great job. The room was spacious and comfortable.
