There was a time when I didn't hesitate when booking a room through Marriott's chain of hotels and lodging locations. I believed the experience would be excellent as usual; however, that all changed during and after the 4th of July holiday. Upon the initial check-in, everything seemed good. I was surprised when the reception desk said that room clean-up would be every other day. I thought I had misheard, and she clarified. So, I continued with check-in, and once I entered the room, I did a brief look over. Everything looked okay except for the lack of an in-room safe; therefore, I took everything of value with me when I left the room each day. As I checked out the television, I noticed that not every channel displayed a program or an out-of-service display. I figured it was just because it was late and there weren't many channels available after a certain time at night. The hotel didn't provide room service, so you either had something delivered or could place an order from the kitchen before they closed. I ordered a Bistro burger and was looking forward to a fresh, grilled burger after a long travel day, but that was not the case; I got a pre-grilled burger that was fully cooked but had been warmed in the microwave. The bed was comfortable, so I slept well. When I took a shower, I discovered the shower wash container had enough body wash for one shower. I figured the television channels should all work since it was early morning and a sunny day, but some channels worked, and I ended up listening to music on my iPhone. It was the day before the 4th of July, and I didn't have service, so I left the sign on my doorknob. Since the Bistro burger didn't leave me with a positive experience, I checked other eateries in the area and picked up body wash while I was out. The water pressure and the shower design left a positive note for future mornings. I would suggest (to the hotel) not to provide a microwave in the room if the mini-fridge is only designed as a mini-cooler, since you risk getting food poisoning. You can only use the chiller for water and drinks, as well as to keep your candy bars cold and other non-perishables. The morning of the 4th of July proved to be a day of no channels working on the TV. You definitely want to have your devices charged so you can watch some form of entertainment. I give high marks to the AC working in the room due to humid days. The evening of the 5th was when the deadbolt on the entry door started giving me problems. I had to fiddle with the doorknob to get the deadbolt to retract. The following morning, I took off the sign on my door handle since the maid service was active. I also wanted to see if the room would get service. I reported the doorknob and deadbolt issue to reception. When I got back to the room, I discovered no maid service, trash still in the room, the body wash was not filled, and the door's deadbolt had not been fixed. So, the next day, I spoke to reception about the deadbolt issue, and I inquired about the location of the hotel dumpster. I got all of my trash and headed to the dumpster. I spoke to the cleanup person, and he told me to just drop the bag in the trash can, and he would take care of it. I left my room, and when I returned, it was cleaned; the recyclable bottles were gone; the body wash container was filled; and the deadbolt was still broken. Based on this hotel, I was ready to go and not planning on coming in the future. I've had better experiences at other Marriott Courtyard hotels; therefore, this is the first one to leave me with a non-positive experience. As Marriott Titanium, with an average of 120 nights at Marriott brand properties a year , this is the worst! The room rate is not close to the quality expected. The building outside needs a major update and the ground kept. The rooms were dirty and had dead bugs in the bathroom - when I informed them, I didn't even get an apology, I was told, "we will call the bug guy." We stayed one night and left. I'm a business traveler and therefore in a lot of hotels. My profile preferences are set at No Down Pillows due to allergies. Rarely is this noticed. During my visit to this hotel this week, I asked at check in for No Down Pillows. Pottia who was working the front desk search for a room. She found one and off I went. Unfortunately, it was labeled incorrect and yep... down pillows. What makes this "negative" experience into a positive one is that Pottia went over and beyond to find me 3 non allergic pillows. Only 17500 points which was way cheaper than anything in Hilton's portfolio so booked it for the one night. I arrived at 8pm. A friendly and efficient desk clerk checked me in, thanked me for my Titanium status, handed me a bottle of cold water, provided some information about the hotel (the Bistro is open) and gave me my key. This is the "new" lobby with seating areas, a small restaurant and the big television with computers and printers. The first room was clean, comfortable and then I noticed that the sliding door to the balcony did not lock and there was no bar. So I returned to the front desk and was given another key to a different room. Always check your security, kids. The second room was also clean, comfortable and while I did not have a balcony this time, the room was acceptable. I did not turn on the television, but I did use the free wifi at the work desk. The room has plenty of electrical outlets and there is a coffee machine. Plenty of parking, though perhaps a bit dark in some areas. I would stay at this hotel again if they keep this price point. I have stayed at plenty of Courtyards, and while they're not top of the Marriott line, most have been true 3 star hotels. This one is an exception. I can only give two stars for the entire experience. Check in was ok, the reception area has received updates, but once to our room (walked past housekeeping who was listening to music at outdoor volume, I was unpleasantly surprised. It has a sincere 1970 feel. The bathroom was dirty, I'm a big fan of the installed shampoo/conditioner/body wash, but not a fan of assorted scents and one being completely out. I frequently visit Valdosta And always stay here. I never had any issues until this most recent stay. 1. Did not get a welcome gift for being Titanium Elite, instead it was left at the door. 2. Stayed on 2nd floor, 3rd floor tenants had kids and it was noisy, sounded like the people above me wanted to make my life miserable by running and stomping on the floor from 0600-0100. 3. Room didn't have luggage holder, did not get one until I asked again on the 3rd day. 4. High speed internet did not work. 5. Asked to move rooms, no one contacted me. 6. Asked for welcome gift, it was left at the door. 7. Asked about the internet, was told that's how it is. I need to accept it. read more

The stay was fine. The beds were comfortable. Little things were missing. A little bit goes a long way. We dealt with the bare minimum. No shower caps or make up remover for the wife. Quite literally the worst Marriott I have ever visited. I can't believe corporate hasn't closed them down. When I first entered my room I could smell an old wet mustiness. The next morning I woke up and could barely breathe. A brief inspection of the room revealed its little shop of horrors. Clogged AC filters, dust everywhere, and even black mold on the bathroom walls. I really should report them to the health department. It's obvious the maids aren't cleaning, maintenance probably got lost somewhere, and management just doesn't care. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation elsewhere. We generally stay at Marriott properties and have positive experiences. However, this place missed the brand mark in the most important places. When we got to the room, we were exhausted and ready for bed. When I went to take a shower, a washcloth from the prior guest was still hanging on the shower curtain rod. The shower head was disgusting and the top bedding was soiled. To top it all off, this was a SUITE. Very disappointed. read more

I recently needed a place to crash for 8 hours during a road trip and this is where I regretfully chose. I'm giving this two stars, but not because I have stayed at a place way worse than this. It wasn't terrible, but the entire place just felt really old and outdated. They desperately need to remodel this location, but I don't think they really care, judging by the-worn down area. The room looked clean, but felt dirty if that makes sense. Again, just outdated and old looking. A few stains on curtains and above average water residue in the bathroom. First time stopping in Valdosta/staying here and it will hopefully be my last. read more

I tried to evacuate my family from Hurricane Ian and saw that Valdosta might get hit. I tried to cancel as a Titanium Elite Mbr, calling around 6:30am the day of our stay, telling the property I thought they would also be getting hit by the storm and didn't feel it was safe to leave my family there. I'm a retired U.S. Army veteran and booked the government rate. I also told them I was evacuating so I can deploy down to wherever the storm hits as a first responder. None of that mattered to Alec Edward, the General Manager. Alec refused to listen to Marriott Corporate and said no refund back in Sep 24-25, 2022. Fast forward, today (Jan 5, 2023 - 103 days after I tried to cancel) I get a random charge for the room rate at Courtyard Valdosta. I tried to speak to the manager, but he refused and wrote back to corporate that he will not refund. No explanation to them either - he just said no. Sounds like Alec Edward is on some sort of power trip. 103 days later. Random charge. If you want to stay here, beware, they'll take your money months later. We enjoyed a night's stay at this hotel on our way to Florida! Our 2 queen bed room was lovely: very clean room and comfortable beds. The front desk staff was excellent and extremely accommodating. Worst Courtyard Marriott had musty order upon checking into the room, reported problem to front desk. Front desk clerk said he could spray something in the room to make it smell better. Bathroom had broken fixtures and mold on the tub and tile area behind the door. Great from mid stop to Florida from Atlanta. I stayed in a king room it was only me and plenty big enough. Microwave empty refrigerator Paul Mitchell products typical 3 resort by Marriott. They did have breakfast coffee and I think a bar however in hotels this small I usually never eat at the hotel. There are plenty of places to eat if you're into chain fast food and restaurants around. I went to the mellow mushroom and got a meatball sub cuz I could count on mellow mushrooms food. If you don't want to eat there there are plenty of places to eat. It's 3 hours from Orlando so I don't know how useful this place would be if you're traveling further south in Florida but it is one of the last stops for a while where there seems as if there's some civilization. read more

My best friend and I went down to Valdosta to attend her class reunion and the Winnersville Classic. I booked the hotel so that we didn't have to stay at her parent's house and got a good deal at this hotel. The hotel has gone through some renovating, but still some aspects of this place shows its age. There is one elevator and it is very slow. The bathroom in the room has a very low toilet, so you're darn near doing squats to use it. The tub had a slow leak, so it seemed like my feet were taking a bath while I was showering. I told the front desk upon checking out. The location was very good. It was close to everywhere we needed/wanted to be. It's right across the street from the Valdosta Mall and is easy to get in and out of the parking. Overall, i'm glad we stayed here since the price was on point. It was just what we needed. read more

The Courtyard is a pet friendly establishment with some of the most friendly staff I have encountered in a hotel chain. Our stays were short, one night on our way to the mountains and one night on the way back home and each time we were greeted warmly and our pups felt welcomed as well. We opted for the 2 queen beds because we were traveling with our grandson and the rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. There is a restaurant on property who cooked sides of bacon on demand for our little guy. Check in and check out were very easy and I can easily say we would stay here again when traveling with pets! read more

I stayed at Courtyard at Valdosta for about 4 days during my business trip! I would say I'm pretty satisfied. The manager offered us a convenient nightly rate when we called her to reserve our rooms! The room was always clean by the time we got back to our rooms in the evening. The house keeping personnel did a great job! They have a small bistro down near the reception and it offers a few of the Starbucks Coffee as well. I should say they're pretty expensive on food/drinks prices but they also suggest you to go outside and buy! But even then, a bottle of coke can't be $3 and a small bag of nuts can't be $6. But this is the case in all the hotels so I shouldn't complain. I had no issues checking in and out. It was smooth. Overall, I am more than satisfied with my stay and I will go here on my next trip! read more

Great stay, the hotel is not new but is fully renovated. Everything was what you would expect of a Courtyard- clean, friendly and spacious with modern accents. It is off the highway enough to keep the creepy people and loud noises at bay, but not so far that you wish you would have stayed somewhere else. Pretty pricey for an average motel, in the dead season, and breakfast isn't even included. The fenced area for dogs was nice and the pet fee was the typical $50. We had an extraneous restaurant charge on our bill so we had to stop by the desk to have it removed. Also the pet charge wasn't included and wasn't processed until a few days later. Had we been traveling without pets, I'd probably choose a competitor next time. read more

So, stayed in this hotel for over a week. Had plans to stay longer but decided an air B and B was a better option, after they claimed to run out of shampoo, weren't able to even break a dollar bill so I could use the washing machine, and had cleaning people playing loud hip hop music in each room they cleaned. Not to mention, the doors to the rooms didn't lock when you left the room. You had to use the key to lock the room when you left. Front Desk clerk no help. I booked a room a week in advance. Had to add another room to reservation. When I did, the Marriott app added another room but changed date to same day. I'm 1500 miles away and in 4 different Marriotts this week. I didn't notice the date changed until I woke up with 2 invoices in my in box. I called corporate and was told the app is "notorious" for doing that and they would try and fix it. The property said too bad it's "policy". I got charged for the 2 unused rooms even though anyone with 1/2 a brain could see what happened. Because of this I cancelled the rooms I needed and told the 7 other members joining us on this trip to book elsewhere. Nice "policy" this property has. Glad another property will get the 9 room revenue instead of this place. Also look at some of the other reviews on how gross the property is. Probably avoided a disaster anyway. read more

Not what I expected! Lobby is clean and front desk staff all very nice. I picked this hotel because it was a little farther from the interstate but the traffic noise was just as bad! We visit Valdosta at least twice a year! Our room wasn't clean- hair and dirty washcloth in bathroom- thankfully I always carry cleaning supplies! The bed and pillows were horrible and the sheets didn't fit correctly so I woke up a few times to remake the bed. The cafe serves Starbucks brand but it's not a Starbucks! I will not be staying here again since the budget hotels are nicer down by the interstate! Also the parking lot is very small. read more

Our room was clean and well appointed for our 1 night stay. The check in / lounge areas were not up to typical Marriott standards - we waited a good 5-10 minutes before being greeted for check in (there was no line, just no one around in the desk area except for a friendly housekeeper who was trying to get us some service). The coffee/bar area was an interesting experience - the staff person there didn't seem to have much experience making coffee drinks and once I finally was handed something fairly close to the simple iced coffee I had asked for, I was told there were no straws. Also this is not a big deal but usually Marriotts have that great ambient music piped in to their common areas - none to be found in this place. read more
