The experience was nice. Everyone was mostly friendly. The prices were ridiculous. I wanted to wait to leave a review to see how my hair held up. I spent $450 on matching my ends to my roots so I wouldn't have to maintain my color anymore. I now have a strip across my head showing my roots, my previous blonde, & the color the stylist put on. I can't gush enough about Steph, Raven, and Coven Salon! Not going to lie, I generally have fairly low expectations when I get my hair done. I've only had one other stylist that "got" my hair where I didn't have to immediately go home and redo my hair after a cut. Not only do I not have to do that today, I've already FaceTimed with friends to show off my new found curls!! I knew I had some curls and waves. I had no idea I had this many curls. Not only did Steph bring out the best in my hair, she walked me step-by-step though what she was doing so I can recreate it myself later. In full disclosure, I did give her full rein to do whatever she felt would work best. I showed her a few pics of the types of styles I tend to gravitate to, but told her to show me what works best. And she totally did!!! Raven's scalp massage was amazing!! I could have easily just fallen asleep if the conversations throughout the room weren't so fun and entertaining!! And people stopping by to say hello to the staff...that speaks volumes to their character in my book! What may be just as important though was how inclusive, kind, and friendly the folks here are! It would be easy to literally just stop by and chat with these amazing humans! It is easily one of the most comfortable places I have been in a very long time!! Even though I tend to hate scheduling time to deal with my hair (it's a decently long drive...), I look forward to going in again when it's time to refresh this amazing cut!! A friend of mine gifted me an appointment at Coven and I'm not gonna lie- I was nervous. It had been over a year since my hair was cut by a professional and going to a new salon gives me the worst anxiety. Well.... Not at Coven. I was greeted by the sweet Meg and immediately felt at home. Seriously- I've never been more comfortable at a salon (honestly, I could have stayed all day! These people are so much fun!). Ciera was my stylist and she knocked it out of the park. I went from long, stringy hair to an adorable pixie cut with Tons of volume. We also laughed the entire time! Steph is the only stylist from here to New York that is qualified to do a Ouidad curly cut and it was amazing. Then after a year of thinking I finally trusted in her to dye my hair blonde and when I say she got the shade perfect she got it PERFECT. I then wanted to go back to my natural color due to personal preference and she helped me out yet again to the EXACT color I asked for and did not charge. It is so hard to find someone you trust to do your hair. Since moving to Winchester 2 years ago I have never settled with any stylist or salon-- I just was not satisfied 100% with my hair. After my appointment with Stephanie (the owner) at CopperTop Salon, I was sold. She did an AMAZING job on my hair; it hasn't looked this good in YEARS! I trust her 110% with my hair. I have never been so happy with my experience. The staff are so friendly! It's not just your average experience at the salon, they have conversations with you. At other salons, the staff would talk with one another and it would be more of an awkward experience, which made me a bit hesitant to return. I like that Stephanie focused on me, as her client. The people were extremely rude. They clearly had almost no one in the salon, and were going to be open for another 4 hours, not to mention they do allow walk-ins. They, in so many words, told my friend and I that we wouldn't be able to be seen and gave a bunch of lame excuses. It was definitely discrimination over the way we looked, since we don't look or dress super girly - or perhaps they thought we couldn't afford it. Well, they just missed earning some of the biggest tipping customers in this whole city. Don't set foot in this store if you don't look 100% like a "normal" person, or unfortunately it will be quite embarrassing.. It took me several months of mourning after moving here knowing that I couldn't see my lash girl anymore, after 2 years of beautiful lashes with her! I couldn't find anyone in the area with great reviews or good pictures of their lash work, I guess the trend hasn't caught on here as fast as at home. I decided to try Coppertop since it was close and they had a few pictures on their facebook. My first visit, Megan did a great job!! They went on without a hitch and lasted a while since I started a new job and couldn't get back in right away. They were a little different than what I had been getting for so long so I mentioned this to Megan and she went out of her way to see if she could find something a little closer to what I had been wearing (not many places in VA do volume lashes at all). My 2nd appt she removed the previous set and placed the new lashes she had for me to try. Much closer to what I had before, I love them! They have great retention so I know she uses good glue. The lashes are soft and don't stick/clump together, they're easy to brush if I sleep weird or my allergies get them sticky. She does great work, I am glad I decided to try her out. Now I need to get my hair done with her and get back to being pretty again! read more
