So this time I yelped a Church and this church had great reviews. So we decided to attend, and I asked God to give me a sign while I was there that this would be the church for my son, and He did. Several signs. Most importantly, I felt the Holy Spirit there and the people are so loving. Once a month they do a lunch for the newcomers. It's like a meet and greet. So happened to be today while we were visiting. It was such a blessing to us. When I first came, I heard a sermon on the Beatitudes--something I had never heard before--and it was life changing. Not long after, I was baptized there, feeling such a strong presence of love and a clear direction of "Jesus for the People." Sadly, that no longer feels like the reality. When MAGA/politics started surfacing in the pulpit, the church's mission of reaching *all people* seemed to decline. I used to feel safe going to church, but now it feels more like a Christian nationalist rally. At one point, there was even a meeting about who to vote for--which of course leaned MAGA. I personally don't care about someone's individual political views, but I do not believe the pew is the place for politics. There are still amazing pastors here--like Pastor Mark and Pastor Rob--who are not politically driven but faith-driven. They are loving, open, and don't form cliques of popularity. And there are still so many kind and loving people in the church. But sadly, the overall leadership has become more political, cherry-picking scripture and thumping the Bible about pro-life, gender issues, and political affiliations. I want *Jesus* and a community that loves people, *all people*. Instead, it feels less like a relationship with Jesus and more like religious leaders pushing an agenda. My heart is broken because the focus has shifted. They have become no different from many of the churches they once claimed to be different from. They've lost sight of Jesus. They've become modern-day Pharisees.

What's not so good 1) parking tests humanity, 2) MUSIC IS TOO LOUD!!!. They do offer ear plugs at the welcome center, but they shouldn't need to. Is the music bad so you have to crank up the sound to overcome mistakes, or what's the deal? My wife's and my ears have been ringing non-stop this past month after we have been there, and the ear plugs don't really work to stop the damage being done to people's hearing. TURN DOWN THE VOLUME PLEASE!!! We are going on three years at Rock Harbor Church in Meridian, and we love this church, but we may have to watch sermons remotely if not fixed! Real stinking people should still know how to work the soundboard. Note, I'll remove my review if we can actually hear people singing in the next few weeks, instead of a wall of sound coming from the organ, drums and midi-guitars. Update 8/09 Well, I didn't think it was possible, but the music has gotten louder, so I really can't recommend if you don't want to need hearing aids sooner than normal. Also notice less people singing and clapping. Wish the worship team would play sets without their monitor ear plugs since they don't seem to know it's out of hand. Love the church, not the rock concert!
