My return to Covenant was prompted, in part, by the pastoral way in which they reached out to me upon hearing of my wife's illness. Not just the usual "thoughts and prayers" sayings, but with in-person visits for prayer and discussion. Overall this is a great place with Christ-centered preaching and teaching, a welcoming and friendly congregation, and a true gospel presence in the community.

Racism and sexism are being weaponized by the left, created where neither exist, so any reference to them indicates leftist bias. In addition, by perpetuating the left's fallacy of the unfairness of capitalism, when in fact it is the economic system that has done the most to elevate the poor to wealth, lead me to believe there is further leftist bias. When I confronted the pastor after services and asked him to clarify what he meant by these references he just said "in culture" dismissively without any further explanation and thanked me for attending. When evaluating a church be sure to listen closely to sermons for language that indicates the political beliefs of the church.

However,…read morefor some reason, having to believe in the "Pre-tribulation rapture" is in their Statement of Faith right up there with mandatory doctrines such as the Virgin Birth and the Atonement of Christ. Unfortunately, though it's a non-essential doctrine, once it was known that I leaned more towards the belief that Christians may have to go through the tribulation and then are caught up with Christ at His Second Coming, it became a major issue. Because of this one thing, my wife and I would never be eligible to teach there at CCTV or be involved in any meaningful way. We were basically made to feel like lower-class, substandard Christians, though we both have been following our Lord Jesus for over 45 years. Pastor Daryl Zachman of this Calvary Chapel Treasure Valley church had a talk with me, telling me that there are other churches out there and other denominations that my wife and I could leave to. I expressed to him that we really didn't wish to go. However, now we felt so very disposable.....and for such a little thing! We ultimately ended up leaving CCTV to go to Living Hope Bible Church, that thankfully allows each individual of their congregation to have open thought and discussion ("Liberty") in regards to non-essential views, such as many associated with the end times. The LHBC Statement of Faith is worded as follows...... In essentials: unity IN NON-ESSENTIALS: LIBERTY In all things: charity (love) The Pastor of Calvary Chapel Treasure Valley often quotes the likes of Charles Spurgeon and C.S. Lewis, but completely discards the fact that their views about the rapture were also exactly the opposite of his own. It's profound to think that these great Saints, along with Jonathan Edwards, Martin Luther, George Muller, R.C. Sproul, John Piper, Walter Martin and countless others would not be allowed by this man's church to even be home group leaders. I pointed this out to Pastor Zachman and he just smiled. I was told by another person in leadership that there were approximately 40 guys that attended the CCTV Men's Bible Study that was going through the Book of Revelation and that every single one of them believed the same way as the Pastor.......Gee, I wonder why? Another man who has long attended Calvary Chapel Treasure Valley told me that he himself tends to be more Calvinistic and Reformed than the leadership of this church would like, but he "just keeps it to himself". The complete inability to have open discussion about non-essential Christian views at this particular church, without penalty or shame, has become shameful itself. "Iron sharpening iron" isn't allowed to happen here, without risk being taken by those that dare to share. My prayer is that the leadership of Calvary Chapel Treasure Valley would in the future, allow open discussion in non-essential views, without any pressure, penalty or control. As apart from that, CCTV is truly a warm & friendly church that's made up of wonderful people. The Pastor himself, very much included. I can't remember ever writing in a negative review on ANYTHING, so being a church, I didn't take this lightly. I just feel that this type of control taking place isn't right. So, on behalf of those that may have quietly left before me, and those following that may be spared of such, I wrote this review. Bob of Boise

This is a casual church. People are very warm and genuine; no one is pretending when they say "How…read moreare you?" Because if you say something glib like "good." or "things are alright" they'll make sure you know they want to listen if you're truly not and make sure and ask "Really?" They want to be there for you because others have been there for them. Again, genuine and caring. Everyone dresses pretty casual...but its really a tapestry of levels. You'll see some suits, some Hawaiian shirts, jeans, slacks, shorts, t-shirts, dresses, and even a pantsuit or two. Basically, if you want to dress up; you won't stand out as pretentious. Likewise, if you're jeans and t-shirt, you'll blend in. If you have neon pink hair and full Edward Scissorhands leather on; you'll definitely stand out in the crowd. Though I'm guessing that was the point of dressing like that. ;-) The lead pastor is phenomenally straightforward. He has a dry humor, but doesn't try too hard to entertain more than make the sermon applicable in one perspective or another. He's always ready with biblical answers to your questions, as well as deep, intellectual logic. Be prepared to learn, he teaches in outline format. (There's a test at the end...the VERY END!) ;-) This church usually has free snacks after service to encouage people to hang around and chat without a growling stomach. The music style is hymnal and has a very old world country style to it. (Think little house on the prairie) Personally, I'm a Big Daddy Weave fan- lotsa drums and big voices! I do the main of my music worship in the car on the way to church. Its just too hard for me to sing softly out loud about our amazing God in preparation to hear His Word!!

Its location on the…read moreridge between Meridian and Eagle gives it a majestic view, and the way it sits above the city feels both peaceful and powerful. Every time I go, I'm reminded how beautiful and meaningful this temple is. The architecture is stunning, and the interior is absolutely gorgeous. The stained glass work is impeccable, and I especially love how they incorporated local elements like the Syringa flower--Idaho's state flower--into the design. It's those thoughtful details that make this temple feel deeply connected to the area. The Meridian Temple isn't just a place of worship--it's a spiritual landmark and a beautiful addition to the city of Meridian. Whether you see it lit up at night or surrounded by tulips and blossoms in spring, it brings peace, beauty, and purpose to the entire community. I'm truly grateful to have this temple nearby, and I look forward to many more visits. Thank you to everyone who helps keep it such a special place.
