Covenant Roofing, -- - roofing when they shouldn't because of on/off rain. They removed 3 skylights. It began to rain, they did cover the roof area with tarps. However, I had water running down the walls, the skylight wells were soaking wet as was my flooring. Rain was coming in around roof vents... I spent over an hour using towels to dry walls which will be water stained, - the skylight wells look really bad. ...I am 83 years old, the hub is 85 and we don't need to have this kind of negligence. Covenant said they would send a painter and correct the damage. They will not get paid until the damage is fixed to our approval. read more

After hiring Covenant seven (7) years ago to replace the asphalt shingles on my roof and add vents, their office has been contacted twice for additional repairs because of shoddy workmanship. In response to the first issue, a rep from Covenant did resolve that problem at no additional cost to me--because the problem was from shoddy workmanship back in 2017. In response to the second issue, no reasonable remedy has been offered by Covenant. Again, the problem was from shoddy workmanship back in 2017, according to the assessment by a competitor of Covenant that resolved the issue for me for a nominal fee. Additionally, by contrast and comparison, my neighbor had asphalt shingles for his entire roof replaced by a competitor of Covenant at the same time mine were replaced seven years (7) ago and his roof appears in much better condition than mine, although an employee of Covenant claimed the materials for my roof were high quality and the guys performing the labor were professionals. Before submitting this review, the decision-maker at Covenant was contacted multiple times over a period of a month with multiple opportunities to resolve this most recent problem, to no avail. As a result of these issues, Covenant has betrayed my trust and cannot be considered for future hire unless and until my trust is regained. Like Ronnies' review, our decision was based on the "included" warranty and also the time frame they could do the job in. After all was said and done we received our warranty paper which states starting year 6 we must pay $150 a year to have our roof inspected or the warranty will be void. Bottom line our "included" 15 yr warranty will cost us another $1500. Covenant was at the higher end of the cost for the 3 companies I talked to but the salesman, Jordan Egner, really sold it. When I received the warranty info I called and asked Jordan about the additional cost. He said..."oh, if I forgot to tell you about that then that's on me, but it is $150 a year ". As I had reason to be greatly concerned about a recently developed dip in the roof over the garage, I was most eager to get the roof replaced without delay, before hurricane season, and before actually having saved up enough to avoid financing. With those concerns in mind I had to utilize the Florida PACE program. I found Covenant Roofing to be the ONLY available contractor within the program. The initial quoted cost was given as $ 19,000 and seemingly clearly demonstrated that as the only contractor in the program that there was a premium to be paid. I presented 2 written comparable estimates from local roofers, each over $ 4,800 less (!), Covenants sales rep reduced their quote to a still whopping $ 17,000 plus $ 200 permit & $ 240 plywood for total $ 17,440. The sales pitch placed emphasis on a Covenant Roofing claim to be unmatched in workmanship & detail. As part of the superior roofing that Covenant promised to provide I was told that the company insisted that all the gutters would have to be removed in order to properly install the drip edge, and that the gutters would later be reinstalled. I was also assured that the dip over the garage would be taken care of and new plywood would be installed in that area along with any possible other area that the roofers would find a need to replace. Although not itemized, I am sure that the cost of removing and reinstalling the gutters, a tedious, time consuming process, was added into the overall cost. I questioned not only the salesman, but later also another Covenant rep if there would possibly be enough time to paint the gutters while they are down, however that ended up a mute issue, as the gutters were never removed ! When I later questioned how the drip edge could have been properly installed without the " so important removal of the gutters that set's us apart from other roofers", I was told that "they somehow managed to slip those under"...(a number of gutter spacers were found on the ground after the project, the latest one just days ago in a bush.). Note that the claim was made : " NO, WE HAVE OUR OWN CREW, WE DO ALL THE WORK OURSELVES" That turned out to be very questionable to say the least, as the crew that showed up consisted of 6 very young, underage looking Hispanics, all absolutely non English speaking. They were supervised by a 'foreman' who was able to converse somewhat in English. I suspect that the crew were in the country illegally. Installation of a roof is noisy, however this noise level was absurd ! A great amount of time it sounded as though sledge hammers were used ! Decoration that was hanging quite securely on specialty hooks in the upper part of the window frames fell down. I was truly worried that the roof rafters would be split, that's how severe the pounding was. The end result was that the attic insulation, along with the top of the air conditioning ducts, is left absolutely littered in a field of, quite impressive in size, plywood sliver pieces. It's those very same plywood pieces that cause concern and make me wonder if the plywood roofing structure has now effectively been compromised, leaving the roof subject to problems in years ahead. As to the dip in the roof over the garage, the very reason why I did not hold off with the installation of a new roof: THE DIP IS STILL THERE ! Initially Covenant Roofing explained the showing of the remaining dip by saying that " it happens that way sometimes....could be the plywood, or something structural" Interestingly I was told that a new piece of plywood was installed precisely in the dip location. My complaints were ignored, no follow up. That is, until I left feedback on the FL PACE program pointing out the ongoing problem. Eventually a Covenant rep came out, acknowledged seeing the dip, climbed on the roof & into the attic. After calling his supervisor, back into the attic to take pictures. Without providing any details whatsoever about the ongoing dip problem the rep advised that I would be contacted in a couple of days. I was indeed contacted & told that the the dip supposedly is 'structural', again no additional details. Asked & received receive a copy of the pictures taken, again without an explanation of what could possibly be viewed as a problem. As I do not see any issue I draw a COMPARISON TO THE PICTURES PROVIDNG IMAGES OF A CLEAR SKY WHILE BEING TOLD THAT ITS PROOF THAT A STORM IS SHOWING. I asked for clarification from Covenant as to what they see in any and/or all of the pictures that would indicate a 'structural problem'. My request has been ignored. As you have read my experience I hope you chose wisely, find a trustworthy roofer for your project, which most certainly should exclude Covenant Roofing. read more

I would never use this company. The sales person tried his best to manipulate me with the sales crap. When he finally gave the cost of the new roof, it was 7k higher than 2 other companies. When I told him it was not going to happen, they miraculously came down 6k. This is not abnormal for a company to try and rip the customer off. Even coming down they were still at least 3k higher. What really pissed me off (and why I felt it was necessary to write this) is when I told him I was going to be on the roof and check the work to make sure it was done right, that elicited some snotty remarks and a decisive, we are not interested in the job. On Saturday a woman called to confirm about my needs for a roof. she then tells me Kevin will call me shortly after we hang up to talk about details. sure enough he called a few minutes later and we discussed that I travel and I am only home weekends. I only have my parents home and they don't make decisions. we also discussed the following weekend as this Sunday we were expecting a storm. he mentioned he will call after he goes to Church. I told him no rush as with the weather everyone should stay safe and he agreed. . He was pretty pushy but the way we left is he will.come one only of the weather allows. this morning I received a call around 11:00 which i was in Church and did not hear the phone. I also decided to stay with friends after as the weather was going to be bad. I did not catch his message until later around 2 pm. I texted him back that I am in Orlando. He then text me back that he cut his vacation short to come see, ( never talked about his vacation yesterday nor it is any of my business), and he says he is on his way. I HAD A NEW ROOF INSTALLED AND A LEAK SHOW UP. A man came out to inspect the roof and found a clip had been bent which pushed thru new shingles. He used a sealant to cover the hole and told me they would be back to replace two shingles and paint the damage inside my garage. That was over two months ago. It would probably take one man maybe 1 hour to fix the problem. Have called twice and was told it takes six to eight weeks to get the work done. I GUESS ITS TIME TO GO TO COURT, I have never had to do this before. Small job to fix, I guess once they get your money they don't care. What a shame. Review is based solely on salesman experience , not workmanship. Covenant sales staff was very responsive and was able to provide a fast quote. That's the only positive takeaway from this review. The salesman showed up and used every unscrupulous sales tactic in the book to pressure an elderly widow into a bad deal...from "just trying to help" to "rainy season is coming and scheduling will be difficult" to "other contractors will put a lien on your property or sue you if they hurt themselves" to "what'll it take to get this job today". Truly an awful experience. Cap it off with a 30% higher price than the next highest estimate and high cost/margin finance options and you can see why we went elsewhere. To covenant, you can do better. Train sales staff to be professional and offer quality work at a competitive price. Encourage instead of discourage homeowners to get competitive quotes so they can make an informed decision and use your company based on its merits. 100% do not recommend. * I almost forgot the bogus work reference. Salesman made a phone call to provide a reference while he was standing in front of me. He called, said "hey, I need a reference" and handed me his phone. I noticed a leak in my roof at the same time I received notice from my insurance company that it was time to replace the roof. I have never had to deal with roof repair nor replacement but Covenant made the process very easy for me. Chris came out to look at the roof in a day. He thoroughly inspected the roof and came to me with photos and more information than I could possibly remember. He advised me of all my options from color of shingles to type underlayment to financing options. Allan and his crew were at the house before the week was out an the roof was completed the same day. I was kept updated throughout the process with calls, emails and photos. I am more than pleased with Covenant's work and would recommend them to everyone. read more

I wish the review went to zero, had a roof installed in March, was very happy with project, people were friendly courteous and helpful. Although I was concerned about the speed of the job, 6 hours, it looked good and I was happy to have it done. In July after a few good rains I noticed water running down my kitchen window, upon investigation I found that they had removed every support strut that holds my gutters up to the house and replace them with long screws right through the face of my smooth gutters! No mention of altering gutters in consultation, contract, or from the workers, when asked why response was "its the only way we could get the new dripedge on!"even though it was exactly like the old dripedge. They've suddenly become rude inconsiderate and disrespectful. There's been five people come out to look at the project two of them twice but the only tools I've seen are the people that came out to look at it! If you had a roof done by this company and you later had to pay for gutter repair or replacement they may owe you money, how many other people has this happened to that didn't realize! Covenant sent Paul to go over every step from products to start date to various machines and why that will arrive when the office will contact us. He had three prices and explained the difference in product and how the difference effects and protects the roof and pricing. We never felt pressured or conned. Since we had three other estimates of 14,000, 17,000, 33,000 we decided to go with Covenant because the price was 28,000 with much better product and warranties. We liked the crew is vetted, trained, and stay with the company. In addition, they are not subcontracted or picked up at a local need work site. As an elderly couple we are not comfortable with nonvetted individuals on our property. My husband never goes with the cheapest or the most expensive. Covenant made the process easy, but most importantly they were insured and carry workman's comp which should be important to every homeowner due to liability insurance. I contacted this agency to come inspect our roof for a potential leak and to see what steps they suggested we take afterwards. They were quick to send someone out to inspect our roof and stated that they would send their review to someone within their team and that someone will contact me within a couple days for next steps. Well, over 3 weeks had passed without hearing back from the agency. I contacted the agency via phone and the woman that picked up stated that there weren't any notes in the system, explaining what the man had found or not found. A contractor contacted me via cell phone a couple days in a row, stating he was going to correct this mistake and apologized heavily. He stayed in contact for a couple days, then stopped communicating. I'm hiring someone else to address our roofing concerns and I'll be sure to NOT recommend Covenant Roofing to any of my friends, co workers, business professionals or people in passing . Brian came out for an inspection since we had noticed a leak around our chimney. Two other roofing companies told us after a 2 minute inspection it must be the chimney flashing and it would cost thousands of dollars. Brian took his time actually inspecting the roof and was able to determine that the leak was not caused by poor flashing but by a hole in the stone chimney grout. Fortunately for us this is a relatively cheap fix a stone mason can perform. So even though this ended up not being a roofing problem, Brian was very thorough and honest in helping us diagnose the problem. He was very knowledgeable and friendly as well. We really appreciate his help! If we have roofing issues in the future we will definitely call Covenant! read more

The roof construction itself is quality work. The roofing crew arrived on the time and date specified and cleaned up after their job. My roof passed county inspection. My issue with the company is not with the roof itself, but with their warranty. The salesman advised me this company has a 15 year workmanship warranty on the roofs they install. This was a key determination to choosing this company over its many competitors in the area. The salesman even showed me examples of competing roofing company's sales contracts which indicate only a 5 year standard warranty for work done. The salesman confirmed the cost with Covenant to be higher because of this 15 year warranty. I signed a sales contract which states "12. ALL WORK COVERED BY A 5 YEAR WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY. CRC upgrade_warranty applies." The salesman confirmed that their CRC (Covenant Roofing Company) upgrade warranty was to total the roof under a 15 year warranty. He stated I would receive the warranty at the completion of the roof. I was sold. The roof was built. The final CRC inspection was completed by a project manager. I asked about the warranty paperwork. He stated I would receive the papers upon payment. I asked specifically if there were any out of pocket costs. He said he did not know, but that the paperwork would indicate such terms. At a later time, this is the warranty coverage I received: "Covenant Roofing & Construction, Inc. warrants to you an extended warranty of __15___ years. This warranty is transferable to one new owner. This warranty includes 5 years of unconditional workmanship. An officer of the company will need to perform a maintenance inspection of the roof starting on the 6th year and every year thereafter for the life of the warranty. There will be a fee of $150.00 per inspection for the recertification of the roof. If an inspection is missed the warranty will become void. This warranty does not cover product defects, extreme weather conditions or acts of God. This warranty does not cover any additional cost to remove and/or reinstall any roof peripherals to complete repair." Needless to say I was distraught over the additional costs to maintaining this warranty and the indication that it would become null and void if I was non-compliant. After several in person and phone conversations, there was no remedy to the fact that I would need to make additional payment beyond that of the sales contract, if I desired to continue my warranty coverage after 5 years. They did, however, gift me 2 separate VISA gifts cards in the amount of $50 and $150 for my inconvenience. The office was pleasant and apologetic in listening to my concern, but apologies will not cover my cost after the initial limitations. I advised them not to sell customers on what they are not actually offering in their agreement and without making such knowledge available to the consumer. read more

I admit it was a big expense, but I was very impressed with the quality of their work, the speed at which they worked, and the overall professionalism. I have no doubt, with what I've seen going on after the hurricane, that this company is far superior to the mass majority. I've watched how others use cheap material and looked at the end product and have to say I am really glad I went with this company. If you can, don't miss out and go with some cheap company. This company cut no corners and my roof will last. My next-door neighbor needed a roof and other contractors, while giving him an estimate, commented on the quality of the roof on my house. Do not hire these people. They are dishonest, they are very happy to take your money. They didn`t complete the work they were hired to do. My roof solar ventilator and front gutter ended up in the trash without telling us what was going on. When I went outside to inspect the finished work, I complained about the solar ventilator and front gutter. Their answer was that the solar ventilator was broken and instead they put a larger exhaust which will do a better job. $600 dollars went to the trash, we still had a year left in the warranty, we could had a new solar ventilator installed by the vendor. We had been calling many times about the front gutter. We always got the same song and dance. "Someone will call you later" After a few weeks waiting and several phone calls, we finally we had a HONEST answer. We misunderstood and people were telling us the wrong thing. We are very disgusted with these people and their dishonest way of doing business. Once they get your money, you are on your own. I wouldn't trust anyone else to put a roof over my head. After I called them they were out for an estimate the next day. They provided amazing 0% interest financing. They also completed my roof a week ahead of schedule. The workers were respectful and cleaned up after themselves, they saw that my dryer vent was broken so they replaced it and hooked it back up no questions asked.
