Firstly it's in Cowbridge which is one of my favourite little places just outside of Cardiff. It's close enough to feel like you're near home but far enough to get a change of scenery entirely. Secondly, the restaurant itself is clean, bright and warm in atmosphere. Lots of pine, white walls and natural lighting. The menu is to be expected, fish fish and more fish. Poached, sashimi style, grilled, in sharing platters, in pasta and with chips. Probably not a good place to bring picky eaters but there is steak on the menu for the red meat lovers and vegetarians can make do with a pasta dish/risotto or a bowl of chips. The service was quick and the staff polite and well informed. They even gave me a pot of delicious smoked salmon pate to take home with me. I've been putting it on bread every half an hour for most of today. The loaf is almost gone. Highly recommended for fish lovers everywhere and if you do go then be sure try the famed oysters that started it all. Delicious.

Apparently it's quite a well known one as our lovely B&B hosts in Llandovery had recommended we come here after seeing the dolphins and we are happy to have followed his advice. The menu isn't huge but the selling point here is fresh seafood and prepared to honour their natural taste. My scampi loving boyfriend ordered the scampi meal and I had the very fresh (caught the same morning we were told but not the one we saw on our dolphin boating trip) New Quay European Lobster linguine and it was incredibly satisfactory. The lobster meat was sweet, bursting with lobster flavour and it was the perfect pasta dish and spicy even - a slight surprise given that my boyfriend told me that we would not find good food in Wales. I could have easily had a second serving of that tasty dish. Scampi was very good but Lobster and in Summer, Mackerel are the seafood choices to go for. On a gloomy rainy day, the delicious food can be enjoyed in their cozy and beautiful pub or on a sunny glorious day, if you're early enough, you can have your meal while overlooking the bay of New Quay which is a treat. At sunset it could easily be very romantic and for a very reasonable price.

At Rockfish they are serious about fresh fish cooked to perfection. When I opted for the lunchtime special we picked two courses for £15 which were absolutely delicious. (My favourite being their house special of grilled seabass).
